“Whenever we are in Monterey this is a must stop. We really enjoy the outside patio, it’s always a thrill when a jet landing at the nearby airport buzzes the parking lot. This time for lunch I had a fried chicken sandwich and my wife had fish and chips. We started out with calamari but there was a mixup with the timing and the plates came out before the app. The manager came out and said they would re-make the plates when we were ready rather than park them under a heat lamp. That was really a nice touch.“

“After navigating to the side door to get in, all was fantastic. I feel lucky to have found an off night at this amazing place. Crispy potatoes and polenta was outstanding. Torn between a handful of great steak picks, I opted for the filet with blue cheese, grilled to medium rare perfection. Very nice server and friendly bartender. A truly great dining experience. The only suggestion would be to dim the light for the back room behind the bar. It is quite blaring when someone goes in/out. Otherwise, would have enjoyed a gelato or something cinnamon as a light treat after.“

“My husband and I stopped in here after a hike around Point Lobos on our wedding anniversary which also happened to fall this year on Easter and spring break, so things were busy at The Tap Room. We were seated right away, and the room was beautiful. I got a Reuben sandwich (I always like to order this if it's on the menu) and it was so delicious with the corned beef sliced thin as it out to be, and my perfect ratio of sauce and sauerkraut to Corned beef on beautiful swirled rye/pumpernickel bread. What I'm really here to tell you about though is my server, Nick. He was so friendly - but not intrusive, conversational - but not too chatty. Just a top notch server. I've had lots of good service before at restaurants, but Nick will be remembered by me even after I've forgotten about the food. I also got the impression from the other staff that checked on us during the meal, that the level of care was shared by the whole staff. World class service!“

“Made a reservation for an outside table but they sat us inside because it was potentially going to rain. We also selected that we were celebrating a birthday on the reservation and they didn't acknowledge this so we didn't say anything. You're gunna have to let them know in person. The playlist here it was IMPECCABLE!!! Lots of great vibey music. I started off with a Virgin Margarita which was very tasty and delightful. Hubby ordered a smoked old fashioned which came out in a glass cover that when removed it was quite literally smoking! He said he liked it. We tried the pan seared Octopus in a coconut curry sauce which was a great consistency but a bit in the salty side. I still enjoyed it. I ordered the Bone-In Rib Eye which was a LOT of meat but also a LOT of fat. Very flavorful. Cooked perfectly (asked for medium rare) not too salty. The side I paired it with was the mushrooms and pear onions. I can't recommend this enough! And if you're not into mushrooms you've got to try the Brussels Sprouts in a miso sauce! They're to die for. Everything had a nice little char to it. Took a while but that is how you know it's good. All good things take time. We were a bit full so we did not order desserts but if you come here on your birthday you get a cool firework candle. The bill ended up being about $400 but honestly it was all worth it because the ingredients were high quality and our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu making it a really memorable experience here. Next time I want to splurge I will most likely return“
