“shing and a little tart! I also got the crispy plantain taco which was amazing! As someone who just came back from Panama this was on par with the plantains out there! The crispness and saltiness from the taco paired with the sweetness of the cranberries and plantain was just perfect! The only problem was that it was a little bit dry so if there was a sauce to go with it?! The elote were really cool with an amazing shape almost curled up like ribs! They were tasty and had crema and tajin on them! However for their price I would have wanted a little more! I also got the churrasco steak! The steak itself was well cooked and flavorful with a little bit of tomato sauce! The charred vegetables were also amazing! Overall it was really an authentic dish with even the rice being unique with a completely different taste than normal! However I also wished they had some kind of sauce to go with the dish which would have made it just supreme! We ended off with a churro which was warm and gooey with a vanilla center which I loved! Overall the food here is authentic and unique, but it is on the pricier end. However for the amazing service and ambiance paired with the good food I would definitely give this place a try!“
“We booked a cooking class through Classpop and had such a great time learning to cook! The place had a parking lot so parking wasn’t a problem. We loved that after the cooking class, we were giving enough time to enjoy our food and even had leftovers to bring home. 10/10 recommend! Thanks for making my partner’s birthday so memorable!“
“There’s a lot of people buying food here. Many of them are only picking up food. The place is on the small side. There are about five booth tables, each can accommodate six people total. There are five more tables that fit three to four people. The food is really good. The prices are good too (everything is expensive everywhere because inflation). It could be noisy but you’re there for the yummy food. They have a few tables outside, which would be great for a late afternoon when the weather is not cold and having a refreshing drink.Parking: Never had issues in finding parking“
“We had a phenomenal waiter. I asked about gluten free options since the menu was not marked, and he took me through the menu to explain what could and could not be safely prepared without cross contamination. Unfortunately, not many safe options! There are very few gluten-containing items, but they spoil most of the menu for me due to a shared fryer - so no homemade tortilla chips for me! The cocktails were great, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the staff were friendly. I just wish they would modify kitchen practices to be more celiac friendly.Dietary restrictions: Minimal truly gluten free items due to cross contamination“
“I got the Deluxious mocha and a tofu arepa and my date got the spicy Maya cocoa and the plantain arepa. The drinks and food were exceptional and came fast. The service was warm and attentive, and the place looked beautiful, clean, open, and inviting.Vegetarian options: Lots of the food is traditionally vegetarian and even more is made vegetarian with the use of tofu.“
“One of the best places for outdoor brunch on the peninsula. Their champagne mimosas are good with generous portions. I wish they offered more for vegetarians with some Beyond burger or Impossible meat-based dishes. I do really miss their scones which they stopped serving some years ago. They were just such a delight and they are sadly missed.“
“We wandered in to Milagros for lunch and were soon greeted and taken to the cute patio area. We ordered chips and salsa, and got three delicious salsas and a bucket of fantastic tortilla chips. My niece had a fish taco and I had the chicken taquitos. She loved her taco, and the taquitos were absolutely perfect. Jose 'el diablo', ? was our waiter. He was entertaining and likeable, very sweet and funny. The service was beyond reproach.“
“When I used to work in RWC I ate at their original location just outside of downtown. They've opened a second locale in Menlo and has been quietly opened for a year and I hadnt realized it. Especially because it is in the same strip mall as one of my fave Mexican places, El Fogon, which strangely had an Atherton Mom and her teenage daughter going to. this would never happen pre covid. Speaking of when they opened apparently most folks wanted the original location which is more Panaderia than Restaurant back then to have a bar. So they built this one with a nice bar and now post covid the demand for a bar isnt as strong. I hope that changes because I think their food is quite good. Also this locale brings in the bakery products from the other location so it is a small case. I had a conversation with a server a while back at a sushi restaurant of all places and found out they were from Guatemala. We got to talking about where all the Guatemlan food was and they said El Pollo Campero was basically the only one around. So when I told them about the original location of Guatemalteca we googled it and this one showed up. So during my errands I met a friend here for a meal. We had to go for the stuff we'd never heard of and that paid dividends. The Hilachas is a beef stew that texturally like ropa vieja with the protein being beef being in a thick gravy like stew of tomato and other aromatics. This was served with a salad, pureed black beans and rice. The churrasco was grilled beef similar to carne asada but spiced differently. it had similar components to the Hilachas but also came with a chili and some crema. We also got a Gutemalan Tamal of pork to share and they included the last of their Gutemalan style chile relleno which is smaller but amazingly tasty. The bonus here are the hand made tortillas! Food was a big win and since you're surrounded in a neighborhood of great Mexican food, Id stick to the Gutemalan fare to broaden your horizons. THe brother and sister which run this locale speak really good ENglish but they still helped me practice my Spanish which was nice. A great new add to the neighborhood and now it's going to be hard because I have to choose this or EL Fogon in the same block“
“Solid fish burrito in a neighborhood taqueria. Lots of neighbors hang out in it his place where there is a very decent menu of tacos burritos enchiladas etc. chips and a salsa bar is on the house - fresh and delicious. The service is good too.We have been going here for 17 years and glad that it is in our neighborhood. Even after changing owners recently- the food and service remains great.“
“We love eating out. Last night we found this excellent restaurant which we didn’t know before. We spent a lovely time there with delicious food and a nice stuff and a great cook. We put this place in our phone list and we shall definitely visit again very soon. We highly recommend.“
