“I was driving through the area to check out some camping and I spoke to Abby on the phone for further information. I stopped here and had breakfast. The people were very nice. It wasn't terribly busy at 10 o'clock on a Sunday morning. They had a nice little garden area out back, where I sat and ate and drank some, great coffee. Breakfast items come à la cart so you can taylor your meal to your liking. I had ham and scrambled eggs with potatoes. Food was good and it came out quickly.”

“Wow as a chef I will say the food is great the guy really knows his food. I saw some people complain about small stuff like the bathroom not being updated its not about a fancy restroom it's all about the food and they do a great job. It took us a while to get food but it is fine dinning so don't expect it to be quick the steaks a thick also so it's not like cooking a buger so please be patient and have a drink and injoy.”

“I had a lovely meal at the bar. I kept it simple and just had the seafood chowder, which was delicious. The bar was fully packed and the restaurant was busy too, but the bartender did a great job keeping up with everyone. The wine list was great, too!”

The service was good, and I really appreciate that taxes are included in the price makes it easier to split the bill! The orange juice is delicious! “I tried the tacos. $3 each. Good price. Garnished with radish and carrot and some type of cooked pepper. came with the standard cilantro onion and hot sauce. The only thing striking me as odd, i asked about Asada and the guy said beef? sure we have meat from the cows head and neck, also tongue. I assumed chopped up steak? ok. I survived it! 4 tacos and a bottle of water. Cheers!”

“There have been multiple Mexican restaurants in this location and this is my favorite so far. Their el-pastor is delicious and the polo asado street tacos are great! Make sure you try the spicy sour cream sauce on whatever you order.P.S. try the flan !”

“Loved our visit here earlier this year. We are from out of town and are so happy we came across this spot. Delicious drinks (my London fog latte was wonderful) and very tasty scones! It was around my birthday and the owner made me feel right at home! Will be back for sure on our next visit.”

“Stopped by this local favorite for lunch today...Roast Beef (aka Roast Beast) was spot on and solid, the French onion soup was a warm welcome after a long rainy week. I also left with a tub of the Kansas City BBQ sauce to augment some brined and smoked baby back ribs at home for dinner...also well worth the money at a price point equivalent to grocery store gourmet BBQ sauce. As the grandson of a professional meat cutter (40+ years), that cures meats on a hobby/craft level, and prepares about 1500 lbs of meat and over 100 gallons of BBQ sauce for public consumption every year, The Ham Stand is 100% what I'd expect and a lot of extra nuances that are well worth the money for local craftsmanship and attention to detail.”

“This is my favorite restaurant in Nevada City. The food is really excellent, the atmosphere, feels like a special occasion, every time, and the staff and owner are the *best part*. We feel very nurtured, and taken care of when we go to this café. Recommending everything five stars. They have a big salsa bar with plenty of options such as: tangy guacamole, chunky Pico de Gallo, medium green salsa and a red 'Brother Salsa' that has more texture and flavor than the green.We enjoyed a Lengua Taco, a crispy Asada Taco (my favorite!!) and and AL Pastor California burrito - it was a hard choice so, the AL Pastor and Asada are both #1 choice so far. ?”

“Went in for the 1st time on a stormy Saturday. Restaurant was mostly empty. Ordered the cheeseburger they had on special and it was delicious. 1/2 lb Patty, thousand island style sauce was great I went with everything but the onions. Service was prompt and friendly. Price for burger and a very generous amount of homemade fries was about $15. Well worth the visit. I will return and try out the Brats. ? Definitely a sports bar vibe with multiple TV's. Might be a good place to watch the 49ers whip the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII?”

“I was dying for a steak while working up in Grass Valley. I asked Siri to find me the closest steakhouse, and The Willow was definitely the closest. I read a few of the reviews and I would agree with many of them. First of all, Tyler appears to run a tight ship and customer service is A plus! On Friday and Saturday night they serve ribeye but the cuts were 14 ounces and I was looking for 6 to 8 ounces, so I went with the New York. I asked for medium rare on the medium side. The waitress commented I fully understand that and delivered a perfectly cooked and seasoned New York strip. Salad, barbecued beans and garlic bread come standard with the steak and that's how I placed my order. They make several of their salad dressings in the house and I chose the blue cheese. It was very good but with the amount of iceberg lettuce that was "the salad", I would've liked a little more. The barbecue beans were OK, nothing special. One of the remarkable things I experienced, was when asking about a couple of their Zinfandel's that were on the menu compared to the Rodney Strong Cabernet, Tyler brought me three tastings of all three wines to make a choice. I find this to be exceptional service typically not found at some of the highest end steakhouses. Bottom line is if you're in the Grass Valley, Nevada City area and would like a reasonably priced steak at one of the local restaurants with a wonderful history, I certainly would direct you to The Willo! “My buddy and I woke up hungry and ready for coffee, so we looked up good coffee places in the Grass Valley area and this place popped up! What a great place for a fun and unique coffee shop in this area! Food and drinks were great and the staff was very friendly. They definitely had their regulars who came in! “This is a classic old timey Asian restaurant in a classic old timey location. At 5:30 we had the place to ourselves and were served promptly. The service was excellent as was the food. They do a lot of take out so don't get discouraged if the lobby is jammed. We got the classic dinner for two and it was just that. The soup and spring rolls were excellent. We ate heartily but still could not finish the main plates. It was about half the price of other "sit down" dining options.”
