“Spent the afternoon up in Ojai, and my friend suggested we try Yume. We ordered at a counter, was greeted and any questions we had were answered. Thought about one of their burgers but they looked too big to fit in my mouth so I opted for a bowl. I had the Wagyu Loco Moco bowl and my friend had the Wagyu BBQ bowl. It was nice so we opted to sit in the back patio area. Food came in a reasonable time. We both really liked our meals, the miso and edamame were great sides. Need to go back and try other items in the menu. Owner and other workers checked on us to see how things were and we told them the food was great, and we definitely need to go back.“

“This is a sweet restaurant with a compelling story of the owner's journey from Tibet to America. And the food is delicious! We were a little skeptical walking up but are so glad we came in. We had boiled chicken dumplings and they were flavorful and juicy and had the goodness of being homemade. We also had the chicken tikka masala and it was tasty and perfect with onions and potatoes over rice. Warming and hit the spot on a grey and chilly day.“

“This place was well recommended by a trustworthy local and delivered far beyond expectations. The sushi was exceptional but they also have an extensive menu with a little bit of something for everyone. Considering the coziness of the space and the friendly staff, you will feel at home here. Would come back in an instant.“

“Not really a fault of theirs, as our party of 2 arrived 55 mins before closing. The food is ALWAYS good here! It had been a slow night we overheard; only 2 other tables still occupied, but our service, although charming & sweet, was terrible! Young servers need to be trained, maybe, not to lose focus, on how the owners want the service to be presented. There was plenty of staff, yet it took forever to accomplish each step, ie., silverware...menus......,water, etc. I started to feel anxious because I knew we were running against closing time. We ordered a lot...special birthday. The food was great, but again, slow to be delivered, & not in congruous order. We got to-go -boxes, but some of our food got whisked a away without asking if we were done! Not good. But the food is always worth it!“

“I've lived in Ojai for over 50 years, been eating sushi for at least 40 years- not sure how long Sakura has been open but I've never tried it since my favorite sushi restaurant is I Love Sushi in Ventura. Needed my sushi fix, didn't feel like driving to Ventura so thought I'd give Sakura a chance. It was still early on a Sunday evening and my wife and I were seated right away, the waitress took our food and drink orders shortly after and the food came after just a short wait. The salmon sashimi was cheaper than other sushi restaurants although you only get 5 pieces. The price per ounce is probably about comparable to other places. The pieces were a healthy size - they tasted fresh and delicious. The yellowtail sushi was also of good quality. We also ordered 3 rolls - the red dragon was good although the shrimp tempura inside the roll was not as noticeable as it should be. The albacore miso roll was also good but be careful - my wife and I are used to spicy food but this was on the high end of the spicy scale. Another roll with tuna inside and scallops on top was pretty bland and the cold scallops offered little help. All the rolls were presented nicely and all were healthy as in full of ingredients- not skimpy at all. As with just about any restaurant it takes a few visits to discover what your favorites are. All prices were within range of most local sushi restaurants so no surprises there. One downside- with a concrete floor and hard ceiling as the restaurant became more crowded it became almost unbearably noisy. I would definitely try it again although my wife said she knows what she likes and it happens to be at I Love Sushi in Ventura.“
