The people there are also extremely friendly! However I don't like how they got rid of the candles and how dim the lights are. The inside of the restaurant is also really dark I almost tripped and f#cking died!!! When I was done with my food, I ordered mochi. I recommend the strawberry, mango, and vanilla mochi. Some of the employees are not super smart and not experienced. Most of them are experienced though!“

Being our first time, we didn’t know there were no menus and it was the chef’s selection. “I ventured with my wife for a very early Valentine's dinner recently. This sushi speak easy has been on my to do list for a long time and I'm pleased we were able to visit this location. The entire staff was amazing, you're definitely here to drop some bills but have a great time. You immediately feel welcomed in this cozy setting , there were only 6 of us for our seating and the staff knew all our names and the reason why we decided to spend the night for dinner to treat ourselves for omakase. We were invited to partake in some pre-dinner cocktails and canapes. The reservations will note this is optional. I strongly suggest attending this and mingling with the staff and your guests because you're going to spend probably at least 2 hours with these folks experiencing top quality sushi. I really enjoyed their spin on omakase and sushi. Of course you're getting really high quality ingredients here but the intentionality in every bite, the pacing of the night, and at least during our visit the banter between everyone made this experience extremely memorable. The flow of food is so well thought out and the chefs work as a team to tee up each bite. You can see them set up nigiri, 2-3 rounds ahead, and watching the process is absolutely mesmerizing. Each bite is well explained along with the ingredients, origin and processes of how each nigiri is built. The drinks options are also very appetizing they have options for whiskey flights, sake flights and can craft up some delicious cocktails and non alcoholic options. They also are very considerate of any dietary constraints. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience and would come back for a future special occasion.“

“Nozawa Bar was a great experience and we left very very very full. We booked a month ahead by phone and paid upfront. It's about $225 per person, and with drinks and tax, the bill totaled around $600. There were around 22 courses including dessert. The dishes were incredibly fresh and tasty. The most memorable courses were the Hokkaido Octopus, New Zeland Pink Lobster, Bluefin Tuna Akami, Santa Barbara Uni, Japanese Kinmedai, and the 3 different type of oysters (Kumiai, Kumamoto, Kusshi). There were however a few courses towards the end of the whole dinner that felt like filler pieces such as the Tamago, Maine Lobster, and Japanese Anago (sea eel) nigiri. I could have gone without those courses and felt the menu was a little overpacked. At then end, they gave us a passion fruit sorbet and hojicha tea which was the perfect way to end the dinner. Chef Fujita, his sous chefs, and the staff were very kind and lively. Dinner was very interactive because Chef Fujita made a lot of jokes and interacted with everyone. Dinner setting is also intimate as it is only 10 seats. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back!“

“This place from the moment you walk in the front door is beyond amazing! They’ve done an amazing job of setting one heck of secluded Tulum vibe but while being in the thick of it all. No detail was left out from the lush landscaping and impeccable design throughout to the delicious food and cocktail menu topped off with incredible service. We had the Crispy Rice with yellowtail and shishito peppers for starters both were some of the best we’ve had. We also had the sun fire roll and short ribs and all I can say is yum! For a party of two, we each walked away with eating $190 each which is a lot for how much we ordered truthfully but because the quality of the food was better that majority of the places we had, it was worth it and can’t wait to go back. Interior of the restaurant has a nice vibe, and friendly folks work there. Pricewise this might be slightly higher (for some of the rolls) than other places, but you can taste the difference. “Chicken katsu was great, big portion, tender chicken, came with a pretty and delicious salad and the curry was also very good. It was totally worth the price. Takoyaki was one of the best I've eaten. The portion is also generous and there were definitely big chunks of Tako inside the balls. Presentation was very pretty too. However my lemon roll was not as good as the other dishes. The spicy tuna was overly spicy and it took away the flavor of the entire dish. The size surprised me positively though, it was much bigger than rolls in other places. The fish was fresh and the proportion with rice was good too. I would definitely come back.“

For the price of the dish, I understand since it tasted pretty fresh and the presentation was visible. “Can't believe this has been around the corner for years and we didn't know. Neighborhood spot, quirky but unpretentious, friendly waiter Daniel and the food was great. Fish was all quality, the karaage was flavorful, and the shrimp tempura in the bento set came out of left field as some of the best I've had between sawtelle and gardena/torrance. Have not been when it's slammed, but this will easily replace our go to's in Manhattan Beach.“

We got the Nozie, you can ask the server what it includes because it might vary, but ours included eel, yamaimo, uni, salmon, and a couple of others. They were all solid, my one critique would be that there could be more of the fillings to really get more of a taste of them.The rice and seaweed were great, they make each hand roll fresh after you eat the previous one so the seaweed doesn't get soggy which is really considerate for a consistent experience.“
