“If you like ceviche and you like sushi, this is the place for you! The aguachile role was a great fusion of mariscos and sushi. This roll is very acidic if you like those flavors. The salmon delight role was my favorite, it was more classic type sushi role. The el gallo roll was smoky and earthy and definitely packed a punch with flavors. The food was brought out to our table in a timely manner and the service was pretty great. Not to mention the restaurant was playing music and made the dining experience more enjoyable. Lastly, the margaritas we ordered were pretty strong and were 2 for 1 on happy hour!! I would definitely recommend this place if you like ceviche and sushi.“

“The Best Restaurant Ever.... Michael C. hands down is the best waiter one could ask for. Management is the best, my family and I felt so welcomed. We can't wait to visit again. By the way, that was my first time ever having Sushi Roll, (sweet & spicy crab), roll. And God be with me on the butter cake, the beeeeest eveeeer. Okay, the Brussel Sprout Chips, Tempura Cauliflower, and Shrimp Fried Rice... I mean I can't stop thinking about my meal........ The Ambiance, the best .... That's everything in a nutshell They deserve a 10 Reshelle & Rico“
“I ventured with my wife for a very early Valentine's dinner recently. This sushi speak easy has been on my to do list for a long time and I'm pleased we were able to visit this location. The entire staff was amazing, you're definitely here to drop some bills but have a great time. You immediately feel welcomed in this cozy setting , there were only 6 of us for our seating and the staff knew all our names and the reason why we decided to spend the night for dinner to treat ourselves for omakase. We were invited to partake in some pre-dinner cocktails and canapes. The reservations will note this is optional. I strongly suggest attending this and mingling with the staff and your guests because you're going to spend probably at least 2 hours with these folks experiencing top quality sushi. I really enjoyed their spin on omakase and sushi. Of course you're getting really high quality ingredients here but the intentionality in every bite, the pacing of the night, and at least during our visit the banter between everyone made this experience extremely memorable. The flow of food is so well thought out and the chefs work as a team to tee up each bite. You can see them set up nigiri, 2-3 rounds ahead, and watching the process is absolutely mesmerizing. Each bite is well explained along with the ingredients, origin and processes of how each nigiri is built. The drinks options are also very appetizing they have options for whiskey flights, sake flights and can craft up some delicious cocktails and non alcoholic options. They also are very considerate of any dietary constraints. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience and would come back for a future special occasion.“

“Probably my favorite place to eat. The food is delicious, creative, and beautiful to look at. The staff are professional and friendly. I've been following the chef for close to twenty years now, from Chiba to Asanebo to his own restaurant, and he's destined to become a name in the sushi business. Excellent fish. Great taste. Outstanding menu, both in terms of selection and preparation. A must-visit restaurant for the sushi lover who wants to see some new ideas.“

“This is a great sushi spot ! I always go here for lunch at work. The best part is that most rolls are bogo 50% off. They are super helpful with great service. The ambiance is meh and it's kind of small but I'm really there for the food cause it's bomb !“

“I don't know how I've never been here before but it wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. There is much to be said about an elevated staff that is perfectly poised in how to treat their guests and create an "experience ". That is just what they did, from the hostess, to the server, to the sommelier. And I haven't even started talking about the food!! The ambiance is beautiful, the food was spectacular and fresh, we had the Omakase. It was served with a sparking rosé that was just wonderful! The whole experience was a 10 and I can't wait to go back! Unbelievable hidden gem!“

“Chef is super funny and chatty. He loves explaining details about the food. Strongly recommend arriving on time, be early rather than be late. Sushi pieces were excellent. Appetizer to start was a very interesting mix of items.Dining experience felt very intimate. Only our group and another group were there. Worth the cost. Do not let the external location fool you, it is a lovely experience, and the food is excellent.“

“We came here on a whim, after finding The Daily Outpost mysteriously closed on a Friday evening. Umigame is so good! Everything, from the poke bowl, salmon teriyaki, brussels sprouts, and edamame, were perfect! High quality food beautifully prepared. Very good service also. We will definitely be back.“

“First time there for us and it was really delicious. We had the spicy edamame, yellow tail collar, halibut nagiri and Suban Ramen.Everything was delicious, yellowtail collar was huge and grilled not deep fried, halibut was very fresh and my ramen was also tasty!!It is our "go to" sushi place now!“

“I was looking for a new sushi spot (you can tell when old favorites start going through the motions) and The Big Fish is right on the money. We had the Caterpillar roll, crunch roll, and baked salmon roll, all very good. The baked salmon roll was actually one of the best I've ever had - perfect temperature. Interior of the restaurant has a nice vibe, and friendly folks work there. Pricewise this might be slightly higher (for some of the rolls) than other places, but you can taste the difference. This is in a part of town I hadn't been to in years and the location is in a "blink and you'll miss it" strip mall at Riverside and Coldwater Canyon...so thanks to Yelp's new restaurant email and all of the other reviews: this is a sushi place worth visiting!“

“Been coming here since I moved to LA in 2012 and to this day remains the best sushi I've ever had in my life. The service is impeccable and speedy. The ambiance is quaint and makes it feel like high end dining but with reasonable prices. Always recommend to people looking for a good sushi spot!“

“There are a lot of restaurants with a unique backdrop but perhaps none quite like Go's Mart. Generally speaking would not expect a high end omakase in a nondescript and older strip mall but the adventure continues as then enter into an actual small market and walk all the way to the back where the the sushi is actually set up. This has to be one of the most unique locations as it feels more like a pop-up than established location. The service is minimalist but efficient. The chef is friendly if not talkative and will provide prompt instructions. There is a rather pricey bottle of shoyu (aka soy sauce) placed in front of you but was never utilized (some chefs do not mind if you use it but others are more particular almost as if a test). The chef tends to use gold flakes as his trademark but is for aesthetics vs taste. Highlights include the seared dishes as well as the uni and one of the last places which will offer high quality sweet shrimp and then ask if you would like to serve the head as part of a soup or fried like a cracker. Overall, a solid if not spectacular choice for omakase in perhaps one of the most hidden and off the beaten path spots.“

“Eaten here a few times now and really like it. The fish is really fresh, better than other poke places I've been to and so far I've always found the portions to be generous. The staff has always been super friendly too. It's a bit expensive but good poke always is so I think it's totally worth it. Definitely worth checking out!“

“Today got to check out Yogis Grill. Looked good when I was browsing places to eat so I gave them a shot. Did not disappoint. I ordered the garlic butter noodles with beef and rice and also a half order of their crunch roll. The noodles were tasty, rice was nice and sticky, and the beef was fantastic, great teriyaki flavor, I did get a side of their spicy teriyaki sauce and that made it even better. The roll was good, if you need a quick sushi fix, definitely did that. Service was great, cashier was friendly. Inside was nice where I ate, clean with music playing, seems like a pretty popular spot for lunch from what I seen. Would definitely go back. I want to try the yakisoba noodles next time.“

My favorite is their salmon, it is fresh and almost melts in your mouth. The service is friendly and server is always very attentive. They do not do dine in during lunch and a reservation is required for dinner. But it is definitely worth it!“

“Chicken katsu was great, big portion, tender chicken, came with a pretty and delicious salad and the curry was also very good. It was totally worth the price. Takoyaki was one of the best I've eaten. The portion is also generous and there were definitely big chunks of Tako inside the balls. Presentation was very pretty too. However my lemon roll was not as good as the other dishes. The spicy tuna was overly spicy and it took away the flavor of the entire dish. The size surprised me positively though, it was much bigger than rolls in other places. The fish was fresh and the proportion with rice was good too. I would definitely come back.“

“Super delicious Omakase experience! I'd definitely like to go back on a week night for a few rolls. We did a double date here the other night and there was a mixup with our order and we waited a long time but they made it right. I definitely recommend the Omakase experience! My favorite was the nigiri and sashimi. Super fresh and all the details on top of the fish were delicious. Creamy caviar at one point ! This place is in a busy area, so parking is hard, get there early! I appreciate the upscale vibe in the midst of a lot of restaurants, its stands apart!“

“I'm not sure where to start. I'm a sushi snob no doubt. LA has great sushi at all price levels. At the high end, you have to be unique and have the best ingredients. Sushi Iki which only does omakase does it better than just about anybody in town. Eddie, the owner and chef, is 79 with the energy of a 19 year old and he knows his fish. Be prepared to try new things, sir back and watch Eddie work his magic. If you want more info on anything you're eating, he'll tell you. If you want to treat yourself to some of LA's top sushi, don't miss this Michelin rated, one man show! An LA treasure for sure!“

“This is a great family-run sushi spot. The sushi was good. We order 3 full rolls and we ate every bite. We could've eaten a lot more. The prices and service are good. There are only two things that could've been better: the ambiance and the wait time for receiving are order. Other than that, we were satisfied. I would definitely eat here again.“

“Great sushi.Hits the sweet spot between the fancy, super high priced sushi and the lower end, bare bones (but still not cheap) sushi.Excellent quality fish with creative garnishes, and large portions. We tried only one special roll and it was sensational. Unlike many large rolls at other places, all the individual components stood out. (Often, I find these big rolls essentially interchangeable.)Not a cheap meal, but great cost to value ratio.Bryant is a terrific, enthusiastic server.“

“I knew we were in for some amazing sushi when I was told by the hostess that they didn't serve California Rolls because this was a true Japanese restaurant. The sushi (mostly nigiri and Masa-san made an exception for us in preparing a maki:) was amazing and the ambiance is laid back yet traditional without the garish/pretentious frou-frou. We regret not doing the omakase but there's definitely going to be a next time.“

“I celebrated my birthday here at Aikan with my family. We came around 530pm and had to wait to be seated, but when I explained our seating situation, the host, Natalie, was very accommodating to us as we had a child with a stroller and a family member who was using a wheelchair. This place got packed and we were seated up front near the entrance but also out of the way as to not bother anyone. It was perfect. Once we were seated, she was also kind enough to take the time to explain the menu and how to order. Our waiter, Tu, was also very helpful and considerate towards our family. Other staff came quite frequently to make sure to pick up any empty plates also. The food portions were a lot so if it's your first time, I advise to make your first round light so you can decide if you'll be able to eat more or not. We chose the premium menu and recommend the soft shell crab, squid legs and most of all, the oysters. We all agreed and thought the oysters were the most fresh we've had of all the sushi restaurants we've gone to. Even our drinks felt crisp and delicious. Highly recommend this spot for AYCE sushi! Small bonus is that it's right around the corner from the new Porto's location!“

“Wow. The restaurant, first of all clean and looks like owner care and keep in good shape, restroom is nice and clean. Table has touch screen with menu with fast software and pictures that I can understand what to order. I ordered Ramen and Philadelphia roll with tempura outside. The roll was amazing with creamy Philadelphia, the rise was gentle and fresh-soft. Amazing. Ramen was so delicious, only the mushrooms were a little bit despicable. I paid $33.95. For this price I will give 5+++.“

“Food here is solid. I ordered to-go and for a quick dinner night with my 3 yo daughter. What we got: Salmon Skin Salad, Blue crab roll, avocado roll. All of it was pretty good. The salad was tasty, but I didn't really enjoy the salad dressing it comes with. The blue crab roll was oozing with crab. Nicely done. The avocado roll had big chunks of avocado making this one solid too. I would return. Not necessarily in a hurry, but for a night when I'm in a pinch and want something quick, healthy-ish and ok for me and the little. Sorry I didn't get any pictures of our food before we ate it. Presentation was however great too.“

“The food was fantastic and I went before dinner rush so it wasn’t too busy. The staff were still looking for ways to serve and clear our table of any dishes instead of standing around which some people do at other restaurants when it’s slow. The tables were pretty close together so if you don’t like having your conversations overheard this might be a tight space, but I would definitely go back for the food and the service.“

“At first glance, there was nothing special going on. The decor was clean, simple and casual. It was also more expensive, especially for a Van Nuys location. But the servings had good size and freshness, not to mention chefy garnishes here and there. I was also pleasantly surprised when they had my coveted favorite, Sea Urchin!I’ll be back. “This sushi restaurant serves the highest quality and most delicious sushi every time my wife and I eat here. The consistency of the taste and quality of the fish is easily a 10 out of 10. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is top notch. This is our number one go to sushi spot in all of LA hands down. We have tried many other highly rated and hyped sushi spots, as my wife is a major sushi afficionado, but this place is at the very top of the list for both of us. It is the measuring stick for all other restaurants. If you haven't eaten here you are doing yourself a disservice. You have to eat here, you won't regret.“

I am currently eating their lunch special that is an incredible value ... soup salad and two rolls for $22. Jack and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. It's a great place to sit at the bar alone or a great place to bring the whole family! “Underwhelming with food & service & atmosphere. I remember this was the gold standard for sushi restaurants, but not anymore. Rolls were sloppily put together, falling apart before even grabbing them. Waiter did not come by after bringing the 1st round of sushi. We had to order thru another waitress who was waiting on other tables.“

“Enjoyed a very nice lunch here recently. The food was very good and the staff friendly. “Jo & Go is one of the best kept secrets for fast, affordable sushi in the Valley. It's located inside the Korean market Greenland. Nothing fancy, take-out only. The sushi rolls are big, and the bowls even more so. I recommend the salmon bowl if you just want salmon sashimi over rice. You get a lot of salmon. If I want something lighter, I get the hwedupbap bowl, which is essentially a sashimi salad. It comes with a side of white rice, gochuchang sauce, and miso soup. For rolls, I like the Dragon Roll and Rainbow Roll. This is the perfect place to pick up lunch or dinner on your way home. Call ahead to place your order, and food is ready in 10-15min. Cash/credit card accepted. The place is run by a very friendly Korean couple. I just wish they were open later (they close at 7:30pm).“
