“Found this gem from instagram & decided to visit after a cold day at the beach. We tried the kitakata ramen & tan tan ramen - they both have a unique broth. I usually prefer creamy ones like the tan tan, but the broth for kitakata was also good. Got seated right away even though it was during dinner and food was served right away. Will definitely come back & try their karaage.“
“I came to this restaurant base off the reviews, they did not fail me. This restaurant has amazing service, my waiter talked to us about the whole menu, had conversation with us and even explained things. The food is full of flavor and you cannot go wrong with anything you get. The environment is clam, chill and relaxing. Definitely would bring all my friends here.“
“This place was great. You place your order in line and then they walk you to your table. Very efficient and quick. I really enjoyed the broth. I love that they let you choose the salt and oil level. We could have passed on the karage that was just okay.“
“My husband and I rarely go to sushi. Besides our favorite place back home because it’s usually such a disappointment. We decided to give this a try and I’m so glad that we did! Stephanie was phenomenal! ? The atmosphere was great and all of the food was delicious. We got a Bento box and two rolls and will definitely be back!“
“Ramen on a rainy day is always a good idea! My friend and I came here on a rainy afternoon and the place was busy, but YiLei did an amazing job at making sure that everyone was helped while providing great service. We got the Vegan Spicy Tan-Tan and the Isshido Miso Tonkotsu ramen , they were both delicious. The pan fried gyoza are a must!Vegetarian options: Vegan Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen.“
“Did they change their noodles? This was one of my favorite ramen shops in San Diego, because of the fresh noodles, but they the texture has been different the past few times.Editing after the restaurant response: Thank you for letting us know of the shipment delays!“
“Got the crush orange roll, udon carbonara, matcha brulee, and rainbow protein roll. The rainbow protein roll was very refreshing. The crush orange roll - I think they forgot the orange aspect because we didn't taste any orange at all. The udon carbonara is best split among 2+ people - we got it with shrimp but would recommend bacon. The matcha brulee was amazing! Highly recommend any of their desserts!“
“Went here because of the good reviews and a recommendation. Like mentioned in other reviews, be prepared to wait a long time for your meal! It is a small place, and they don’t take reservations. You can enter a waitlist.I waited for more than an hour, but I feel like it was worth it (I was veeeerry hungry though). I ordered the karaage (it was okay, I definitely had better), and the tonkotsu ramen. This came with a homemade chilipaste and some finely chopped garlic. I would highly recommend to add these to the ramen, because it really enhances the flavours, otherwise it is quite bland, but after the addition I slurped it up very quickly!Very kind staff!“
“Price to quality ratio is very much on point. Ramen was quite delicious and everything you would expect (plus a little more) from a working man's lunch; it was $12.95 for a large shio. The thing that delivered most for this bowl of goodness was the broth. The salt content was well balanced and provided just enough depth of flavor to satisfy all of your umami cravings. The noodles were delightfully springy, and the bamboo + mushrooms were well incorporated, even if they added more texture than taste. The roasted pork had good flavor, but was a bit too tough. The lowest point was the egg I added, which was hard boiled (blasphemy), and definitely made the dish worse…I left it unfinished.I cannot speak for the non-soup offerings, but in all it was worth my time. Any ramen lover would be satisfied.“
“This was probably the best ramen I’ve had. 5 stars easily for the food. Atmosphere only gets 4 stars because I feel like there could be more comfortable chairs. Or even cushions on the wood benches. Overall great experience.Vegetarian options: Delicious vegan optionsDietary restrictions: GREAT vegan options“
“Really good ramen! I got the Shio and loved how simple but delicious the ingredients and flavors were. The noodles had a nice bite, definitely one of the best ramen noodles I have had. I do wish there were more toppings or meat in the ramen given its price though. The enoki mushrooms and hot tofu appetizer were also very delicious (also pricey). My friend got the dipping noodles which she says was great! The wait on a Wednesday night at 6:30 pm was long (30-40 minutes) but the service made it worth it, the waitress was so informative and helpful. I highly recommend this place! To note, the restaurant doesn't have a clear sign as far as I could see so it took awhile to find.“
“BESHOCK Ramen East Village is a hidden gem for ramen enthusiasts! The moment you step in, the cozy ambiance and welcoming staff make you feel right at home. The menu features a tantalizing selection of authentic ramen dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.“
“We're from out of town, and this is probably some of the best sushi I have ever had. We came back the next day. The atmosphere was pretty chill and has a Pokémon theme. My son and I about craped our pants when we walked into the bathroom, they have fake spiders and bugs coming out of the vent, down the wall. It was funny afterwards lol. The staff is great, friendly and the place it clean.“
“Yummy appetizers, super friendly staff, and very cute spot. We loved the decor and diagonally hanging pictures!Vegetarian options: There is a vegan ramen option for two of their ramen bowls.Parking: There’s a parking lot right outside that is shared by the other stores in this strip mall.“
“It had been a while since I’d been cuz it was always too busy and we didn’t want to wait in line the night we wanted ramen. So, we were happy when we decided to try again on a weeknight and we got a table. The only bummer is the ramen was not nearly as good as it used to be. The shishito peppers were fantastic.“
“Bulgogi pancake and fried rice were particularly delicious. Rolls very good too. Service was good and friendly. Place had a nice vibe, and not too loud - possible to have a normal conversation over dinner without shouting over the music or other patrons. Will definitely be back.“
“Really glad to have a place like this on Newport now. The ramen was solid and the karaage was excellent. Everyone was nice and the restaurant was very clean. Bowls were a little on the pricier side but I would still be happy to go again sometime. The happy hour deals looks solid and their beer and sake menu were very much above average in terms of craft beers“
“It's my favorite ramen spot. I drive 35 minutes to get here! I highly recommend the newest special #1!I took my boyfriend and his mom and they loved it! It's great for fun dates, and family nights. The kids food options are great too.“
“Unassuming place with very yummy food. While their are slightly tastier places you have to wait very long to get a seat. Not here. Great food with little to no wait! Lots of food options as well.Parking: Very little parking in this area with many restaurants.Kid-friendliness: Friendly for kids.“
“I started with the brussels sprouts, very tasty! Then I had the creamy chicken ramen with added corn, and it was really good! They have a chilipaste (I think?) that you can add if you want more spice. Good vibes in the restaurant (not loud music), very kind staff.“
“Stopped by this Sunday evening for dinner. Food: We started with the Takoyaki and a couple of hand-rolls. The Takoyaki was warm and exactly what I was hoping for. Then we moved onto the main course, their signature Tajima Ramen. Me and my partner both added carnitas to our bowls. The carnitas was juicy and worked really well with the pork broth. The whole bowl was well put together and I recommend adding some of their complimentary chili oil. Service: The service was excellent, from the moment we walked in and until we were out the door. Our server Charlie was kind and patient, while me and my partner worked our way through the menu. We ended our meal with two pieces of cheesecake which I highly recommend, I love cheesecake and this was a different take on one of my favorite deserts.“
“The food at this downtown location (and the North Park location) is always fantastic. The pork belly broth (Tonkatsu) in the Underbelly Ramen is flavorful with just enough salt.I also love that they have sparkling water on tap (available without an additional charge). The wait staff are patient and fun! The bar at this location is very fun and picturesque. It's an excellent photo spot. I also like that they have seating upstairs.“
“I came here for lunch. I ordered two ramen bowls one pork and one chicken. The pork I got ultra spicy. They both had really good flavor and if you're used to spicy ultra spicy isn't that spicy but it does have really good flavor. We had the Marufuku bites with fried chicken. This was really good too.Our waiter was really good and was checking up on us. He came around the table and filled up our waters three or four times. The ambience of the restaurant was really nice and decorated. I will be coming back here again.“
“I was craving sushi after church this past Sunday and looked up places close to where I live and URBN sushi stood out because of the good reviews. And it did not disappoint! I ordered the spicy shrimp roll & the bulgogi roll (pictured), and both were absolutely delicious and fresh, and a generous portion size. I have never tried beef with sushi, but it’s a yummy combo and I’m a fan. The complimentary edamame was a nice treat! And I ordered one of the cherry flavored house sodas and it was refreshing. The server was so kind & attentive— excellent customer service, and this restaurant is incredibly clean. This is definitely going to be my go to sushi spot in SD!“
“Perfect place for quick, delicious food with great service. Sat our party of five on an impromptu Friday afternoon. I got the Cilantro and the Kraken. Oh, and they split the check with ease!! Wish they had plumb wine though. :( Plenty of free parking!“
“Very bold move to open a jack of all trades restaurant in a place where you can get almost the best of specialized asian cruisines. That being said, the tonkotsu ramen and Popcorn chicken were very impressive. I highly recommend. Especially because it's hard to find $15 dollar ramens nowadays that still gives you all the amenities that belong in a good bowl of ramen.Popcorn chicken was freshly fried, well seasoned and delicious. Very happy with those two purchases. My wife wasn't too happy with the curry udon, but imo it's her fault for ordering it in the first place. It's not the restaurant's fault that curry doesn't belong with noodles haha. But if curry with noodles is your thing, it's got everything you'd want in there, plus they add cheese too.Come give them a try. I'm sure I'm not the only one skeptical since they do a few different cuisines.“
“I am a big Ramen fan and I've visited different places before. But this place is by far the best one. The food quality was amazing. The service was great. I kept saying it was so good that it is bad because now it is my number one Ramen placeWheelchair accessibility: Yes it is wheelchair accessible.“
“The food is solid here, and we love coming before or after a movie. The service was great, they were very attentive. I had a Philly Roll and a Salmon Roll with crunchies added. Didn't love the crunchies it was a little too much. Next time I will just order without it, as I was trying to do something different. My hubby got a spicy mutha roll and spicy edamame and loved both. My kid got the OG ramen with all the toppings in the side except for the noodles. He like the broth but didn't finish all his noodles, but he's six.The ambiance is pretty middle of the road sushi joint. Clean, and spacious. It does have a few TV's so you won't miss the game if you are into sports. We come here quite a bit when we come up here for shopping or movies so will definitely be back.“
“I'd keep coming back, especially for their spicy garlic edamame! I've ordered for take out and had a sit in moment and both times, I was very satisfied both in taste and customer experience. When I ordered for take out, the food was prepared a lot faster than others and packaged well, especially separating the "black" flavor, so I got to experience it blending with the base. When I came here for dine in, the staff were super friendly. Our ramen took a bit longer to come and the staff was super apologetic, she said she accidentally gave my husband's ramen to someone, hence the delay. I was super glad that they made us both wait so we can eat our ramen together, instead of giving mine then him waiting and just watching me. The staff was also super sorry so she offered a free drink on the house. We're both non-alcoholic drinkers so we just got soda. Overall, for my husband and I, it was a good experience. I give this place a 5-star because I will come back here again, and again. Not anytime soon though, but definitely will again lol.“
“As you know, parking is always tricky in North Park but there is plenty of parking available in the neighborhood. The service was so quick. We got water and as we turned around our food was already delivered to our table. They have self serve water (plain and sparkling) outside. I love how spacious outdoor/bar seating is on the patio. The music was great. A great vibe overall. I definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area and craving some bomb ramen!Food review:Underbelly ramen: (5/5) The noodles, meat, and broth were all perfection in this bowl of ramen! It was a good portion and the meat was SO tender and delicious!Tonkotsu ramen: (5/5) The noodles were cooked perfectly, pork was tender and flavorful, the soft boiled egg is always my favorite part, and the broth is delicious, I could just drink bowls of it. It's not super heavy and has so much flavor.Beef gyoza: (4/5) These were tasty, but there was not as much filling/meat inside as we like.Short rib bao: (3.5/5) The meat was very tender, but the coleslaw and spicy mustard didn't mesh well together in my opinion. I ate the meat, pickle, and bun and it was delicious. It comes with 2 buns, so plenty to share!“
“I'm Japanese, but I like it better than Japanese ramen shops.Ramen eaten in Japan is delicious, butThere are times when I feel like something is missing, especially at chain stores.Of course, there are some restaurants that I like, and many that I return to repeatedly. But La Kirakiramen is delicious, and every time I eat it, I always want to come back.Because there's love in it.“
“Good ramen. Expensive. 18% service charge is automatically added to the cost of food ordered in lieu of tips. Service was great. Clean yet a small venue. Ramen broth is tasty though very thick and oily. Serving size is sufficient if you are not too hungry.“
“Best ramen I've had in awhile! I prefer it to Raki-raki personally. I got the Tajima ramen, pork chashu bowl, takoyaki, and my partner got the spicy ramen. We shared everything and agree it was all good.Once we came in, they even gave us a choice where we wanted to sit between 3 spots so it was nice coming in when it wasnt super packed. Service and ambience of the place were all great too! Would visit again.“
“I had an issue with my food delivery and management was very helpful with finding a solution, but I have to shout out Lindsay. She’s the one who answered my phone call and was the sole person I communicated with. She was very apologetic for the mishap even though it had nothing to do with her. She even RAN MY FOOD OUT TO ME in the middle of OB rush hour because parking would be impossible. I hope the store manager sees this and acknowledges how rad her service was!“
“Not quite like they make it in Japan, but not bad! It’s definitely over priced, but most things are these days. The noodles were a good size & texture and the right portion for me, but some ramen lovers might be left wanting more noods. The spicy miso broth was good and not too greasy and the meat had a delicious charred taste. The soft boiled marinated eggs were also surprisingly good. We also got the garlic edamame and some sushi.“
“The wait staff was attentive and prompt. Our food was delicious. Special requests were honored with a smile and at minimal to no extra charge. I added avocado to my poke and it only cost $1!My friend forgot her leftovers and one of the staff ran out to the parking lot to give it to her. That's unheard of and was very appreciated! Great experience! We will be back.Parking: Always plenty of parking“
“Went on a weekday the place has ample amount of seating and parking. I ordered a spicy sesame ramen. It was good and quite filling. I personally prefer the Tajima Ramen to spicy sesame. There was a slight problem with our order where one of the dishes didn't arrive but was on the bill, but after pointing out it was taken of quickly. The mercury location doesn't have vegetable gyoza on the menu which the convoy location has. Woth visiting again.“
“We were seated almost immediately (party of 3). Our server was very friendly and informative, offering to put the spice on the side for my friends who couldn’t handle it. We got the vegetarian ramens (normal and spicy) as well as the spicy chicken and everyone liked it. The soy-based vegetarian broths were surprisingly creamy! Service was quick, with dishes served within 10 minutes of ordering.“
“Great atmosphere and service. Baos are light and fluffy and well seasoned. Flavors in the crunchy shrimp bao are especially good. And who can say no to that adorable face? Recommend going early if you want to try more flavors (they were out of the chicken and beef ones that I was hoping to try ). The waitress helped me come up with a great secondary option though! Need to come back to try their ramen another day.“
“This sushi spot is a great option for a speedy lunch or casual dinner. Their hour's are great: even opeb in-between L & D! They won't blow your mind w/ culinary innovation, but you get fresh, decent sushi in a clean & friendly atmosphere. The miso soup was a satisfying starter, hitting the spot with its savory warmth. The tempura was a bit standard but the gyoza pulled up their rating, but all still enjoyable. The sushi rolls were fresh BUT a little underl-constructed, nice choices. The the service & convenience are the best. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything came out quickly. Plus, with a good selection of draft and bottled beers, it's was a relaxing and hassle-free experience.Overall, this restaurant won't be your next special occasion destination, but it's a reliable choice for a quick and tasty sushi fix. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the mood for a no-fuss, fresh meal.“
“I don't say this lightly, but The Yasai is a must-visit. What they do, creating vegan versions of sushi, is remarkable. The set of rolls on the left in my photo were exactly like the experience of eating unagi uramaki, despite being vegan. It's amazing that chefs Watanabe and Matsuoka have found a way to replicate the flavours and textures of sushi using fully vegan ingredients. The Yasai has both a vegan and non-vegan menu, so mixed parties will all find something to enjoy. I'll be waiting eagerly for them to open an international affiliate...can I possibly suggest Amsterdam? We visited the Little Italy location as it was closer to our AirBnB. I'd accidentally reserved at their main location on Convoy Street, but they were kind enough to transfer the reservation to Little Italy even though I only called on the same day as the reservation to ask. It's a relaxed atmosphere with nods to modern Japanese design. The staff at Little Italy were really friendly and knowledgeable about The Yasai's food. Full marks for service!“
“The yakitori here is amazing, everything was flavorful. We loved everything we ordered & even wanted to get more. I love the concept of ordering on the iPad, makes everything easier & you can just order as you go. It does get pricey though, the yakitori ranges between $5-$15 but most come with 2 sticks. For 2 of us, we spent a little over $100. All in all, I'd still come back every once in a while when I'm craving some yakitori!“
“We had the basic miso ramen which was okay. I expected more flavor on the broth. The noodles were perfect size . Loved my garlic edamames and my deep fried California roll. My server was super friendly and had fast service.Vegetarian options: Tofu“
“Ever since discovering this place at the Fashion Valley Mall we love! The best part is the chicken buns! They are our absolute favorite! The ramen is also pretty good but I'm not going to lie, we go just for the buns we usually get the same waiter every time and he is so good! He is usually seems to get the bigger load of tables but manages it flawlessly. I highly recommend if you're in the area to try! It's quick, accessible and delicious.“
“Last Wednesday I went there with colleagues. It looks small from outside but it was roomy and nice wall art.Due to the food allergies unfortunately I can't eat seafood but I did enjoy some appetizers as well as kalbi. Agedashi tofu was diced cut easy to eat for everyone. Just wished if there is more soup with it. Kalbi was tender and perfectly cook I enjoyed it. My colleagues enjoyed their hand rolls, sushi and others. I'd like to revisit there.“
“I love quite a few of their veggie dishes. Service is always attentive and whatever you ask for they bring it right away. It is a nice place as the music is not to loud and even when the place is packed you don't feel like getting in each other shoes.“
“I've come here a couple of times now, and the food is delicious! I would say that this location is better than some of their sister restaurants! The only downside i would point out atmosphere-wise is that theres some hodge-podge stuff innthe corners and you can see cords and plugs here and here (very minimal "issues"). Sydney served our party this visit and was very kind!Parking: As is expected with any place in Convoy, parking can be hard“
