“We were heading to a friends when 101 got shut down and we got rerouted through San Juan Bautista. I thought it might be fun as the last time I'd been in the area was in elementary school for the mission and geology lesson. Thankfully my wife found this place and we decided to make it our morning pit stop. As soon as we got through the door we were greeted pleasantly and directed to a booth for the three of us. Nice and cozy cafe. Our toddler was able to settle in for awhile and was making "friends" with the other patrons. The staff was friendly and took our orders. I tried the Chapito's Garlic Lover Omelette as it sounded unique. My wife got chilaquiles as that almost never disappoints. The kitchen works pretty quick and we got our dishes in a reasonable time. Both portions were perfect, I was worried they would be enormous as you might find at similar diner/cafes, but they have this nailed down as a full serving for one, probably with a small bit to take home. Food was great all around. the chilaquiles tasted like the chips were fresh made, nice and thick and even after sitting in the sauce for a few minutes had a nice crunch to them. The omelette I originally thought might be too heavy but had a nice balance to it. Great flavor all around and the garlic adds a really nice kick to it, not over powering but enough to let you know there is a lot in it. The country potatoes were nice and crispy. Everything about our stop here was pleasant. It is really great that they are more European style and bring out the mobile card reader to you for the check. I'll definitely stop in here again as well as the town on my future trips toward the bay area.“
