The original Boudin bakery where you can see the bakers kneading dough and creating fun, animal shaped sourdough bread. I had the clam chowder in a bread bowl, and the soup was very flavorful and filled with lots of clams, and the bread bowl was fresh with a perfect crust as well. Staff are very friendly and attentive even in the cafe and casual seating areas.
I can't believe how much changes in a year. I used to dislike sourdough and now I'm sourdough's biggest fan. In fact, I'm going to learn how to start making sourdough at home. Visit number two meant I had to try something new and that something new was crab chowder. I can't believe how much I liked this especially since they're more known for clam chowder. Who doesn't love getting things at Boudin? I got the turtle at Boudin to make a sandwich the next day! Service was smooth. I wouldn't say they were the most friendly, but the weekends are busy and maybe they were stressed. They got the job done. The bread was delicious. It's Fisherman's Square. It was crowded. But we weren't there for the ambiance. We were there to buy baked goods!
