“I’m not a fan of fried chicken because most places overcooked their chicken and make it so dry, but this place has the most moist chicken ever. I had tender, and the tender was nicely moist, the batter is quite thick on the tender. My bf had chicken thigh part and it was great. My bf ordered the hot one, it’s very spicy but he could eat spicy fine. He said that “hot” level is enjoyable for him. I chose the mild one and I enjoyed it. The server was nice and attentive. He gave us the “hot” level sample to try on to make sure we could handle it before order.“

“I've grown to like starbird Chicken quite a bit. I ordered some of their wings fir the first time for the super bowl and they were good. Plus they were a bit more affordable than other places.I usually get the Chicken chop salad which I love. I rarely eat salads but it is really good. The crispy chicken tastes great and I love the ingredients and how fresh they taste.“

Chicken Wings

“My husband and I visited their booth at Almond Blossom in Ripon. We walked through all of the other booths and ultimately landed on them and we were not disappointed. My husband had the barnyard fries, I had the barnyard bowl and we shared the fried pickles (I think those were the menu names). I originally requested fried zucchini, but they weren’t offering it that day. The food was great and we only waited about 7 minutes for everything to come out. Which isn’t bad considering they had about 10 other groups waiting for food and another 10-15 waiting in line. Staff was super friendly and the food was, like I said, great. The reason for 4 stars is because the three items we got did cost $67 and the fried pickles were just okay. Definitely need a sauce to go with them. If we’re at another event with their booth there, we will definitely stop by and try other menu items to explore the variety. The chicken sandwich looked really appetizing.“

“Korean Soul Chicken has opened, taking over a sushi place, that used to be a poke and sushi place before, and a poke place before then, at least for its restaurant history. Located near DVC, in the same parking lot as Mountain Mike's, Giant Chef, and Teapot, it's a decent area that can usually get some foot traffic from students and alike. It's not a large place, as they also blocked off part of the front of the store on the right side for storage compared to the previous openings, but it's kind of nice. Makes it feel a bit more cozy, albeit, doesn't really have much seating as a result, but enough. It has mainly looked the same inside as the first owner that opened up, but again, it's a small spot, so not much is necessary. The staff here are nice. I had dropped by in the past before, but the person at the front wasn't terribly helpful or seemed friendly, so I didn't really stay to try anything. I had looked at their initial menu, and there weren't that menu good lunch options before, but that was awhile ago. Nice to see now that they have more of those options available, especially considering the clientele in the area. The prices for the lunch are actually quite decent. A good value for lunch, particularly for students on a budget. The dinner menu of course is going to be a bit more, but the wings are actually a good amount, as it's based on weight rather than number of wings, so you will always get a good deal at least. Hence, why the number of wings varies per order for those who are curious. Ordered a few things to try out on my first visit. Let's go with the small stuff first. Sweet potato fries were good. They're as advertised, sweet potato fries. No complaints. The mandu here are pretty good. For those unaware, it's basically gyoza. I do like theirs though as the filling is good, and a good amount of filling in them. Not too expensive either. And coming to Korean Soul Chicken, you got to try their wings I suppose. Got a full order of the Galbi wings. So I'm going to say just about everything about these wings were very delicious. The galbi sauce isn't quite a galbi sauce, as it's not really sweet enough, but it's still tasty regardless. The meat on the wings were really good. Just perfectly cooked, and the wings and drumsticks are generously sized, so you will get your fill of it. The amount of wings in the box too for the price are very comparable, particularly in comparison to other Korean chicken places like Pollo Pollo or Hello Chicken and Sushi just nearby. The only thing that I don't really like about this place though is that the way they batter their chicken, or the batter they use, just isn't very good, which kind of takes away from the whole fried chicken experience a tad. Some people might like this version, because they don't like batter as much, and just want the chicken, but for people like me who wants more crunch with their fried chicken, this wasn't really doing it for me. There's too thin of a layer of batter on these, it also felt very soggy, which to me makes it seem like it was cooked partially first, and then finished off in the fryer after, but due to it not having enough batter on it, it just won't crunch up enough after all the sauces have been put onto the wings. Again, perhaps the not as sauced versions might be better, but if you can only get that kind of crunch from it without heavy sauces, then it defeats the purpose on some levels. What's the verdict? I'm a fan. As far as bang for your buck, you get a ton of chicken for the price. The wings are also well portioned, and not tiny wings, so you get a lot of meat on each wing. The sauces here are pretty good, I liked the galbi, and will want to try the other stuff next time. The mandu was good, and surprisingly, their Tteokbokki was quite good as well, very chewy but in a good way. Only thing that was a let down a bit was the crunchiness of the wing, which I didn't really get any of from today's order. “

Chicken Sandwich
Combo 1

“Okay so I am laid up after knee surgery and wanted to try this place out finally so I ordered thru DoorDash as it is close to my house. Ordered the Combo with 2 chicken sliders medium heat for my husband but I tried it. It comes with two buns with 1 chicken tender in each, French fries and 2 side sauces. The buns are good and are in between a true slider bun and true hamburger bun in size. Would be enough for 2 smaller meals. The chicken is white meat, juicy, cooked well, and the outside was breaded with a good amount not too much or too little, and crunchy. The medium heat on the chicken was not enough spice for me and I think hot would be better especially when factoring in bread, sauce and slaw on the sandwich counteracting the spice. The sauce looks like the bloomin sauce from Outback but is sweet. With the medium heat it's a little too sweet but I am looking forward to trying with the hot and see if they are a perfect match. I did dip my fries in the sauce and it was tasty so can't complain too much. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the slaw or pickles on my sliders which was a let down. The fries are good they have seasoning and seem to be prepared in baking soda to make them crunchy. They did get a little limp from being in the Togo container. I also ordered the Hangry bowl which was super filing. I ordered in medium spice and next time I will try hot. Medium tasted like the slightest hint of cayenne pepper. It might be enough if you can't handle any spiciness at all. I think hot will be much better. The rice takes like butter not really seasoned per se. The Mac and cheese is creamy and the seasoning from the chicken and sprinkled on top makes it unique. The slaw was really good, nice and fresh and not too much dressing in it. I hate a sloppy gloppy slaw! This bowl is enough for 2 smaller meals or one very filling one! I couldn't eat the last 3/4 of cup of rice in it bc I was stuffed! We will order again!“

“Very tasty food and not something I expected at all from a gas station location! Very comparable to Popeyes in many ways. Super crisped and juicy chicken, fluffy biscuits, and the wedges are good too. The place itself is small but you aren't really gonna be eating inside the place. It's a more order take-out type of place. Service is good enough, average for fast food at worst. Price is like 20 dollars less than Popeyes for similar quality too, so you can't beat that.Parking: It's right in the Arco gas station, so any parking situation is very situational. During peak hours of gas station use it's nearly impossible to find parking, but if you wait or look around you it's doable eventually.“
