“I love this place and come here anytime I’m in the area and feeling Vietnamese food. Fast food preparation, and it is so fresh and delicious. I always get the shrimp pho with glass noodles and I love that they put in so many delicious veggies, including bok choy and different varieties of mushrooms. They also make their own sauces. Highly recommend!Dietary restrictions: Almost all of the main dishes are gluten-free, and if you are sensitive to rice as well like I am, they offer the sweet potato glass noodle as an option for the pho, no extra charge“

“My favorite soondubu place! Korean restaurants don't usually have much vegan banchan but Surawon always has plenty of options, usually at least 4 out of the 6 or so banchan are vegan. My favorites are the firm tofu and seaweed. The mushroom, seaweed, and veggie soondubu, as well as the japchae, bibimbap, and pajeon can all be made vegan, and everything is excellent. Service is quick and friendly!Vegetarian options: Plenty of clearly labeled vegan options on the menu“

“Wow! The best marinated pork ribs! Come on down to Jin Ju. It isn't an all you can eat spot, but you can't beat the quality. My friend and I decided to try the prime beef and the marinated pork ribs (which is their speciality). Both meats were very delicious. They pretty much cook your food for you. The beef was cut into nice cubes. They were cooked at a perfect medium rare. The prok ribs were also cut into pieces, as well. There was a good selection of 10 types of banchan: fishcake (eomuk bokkeum), sesame broccoli, kimchi, potato salad, cucumber kimchi (sigeumchi-namul), stir-fried glass noodles (japchae), korean spinach, pickled onions, bean sprouts (kongnamul), pancake (yachaejeon), and radish kimchi (kkakdugi) . And honestly, this spot has one of the better quality banchan sides. The japchae had so much flavor, and the potato salad was also good. I appreciated that they offered the pickled onions, which goes really well with the marinated pork. My friend was also excited that they had korean spinach, which most places don't have at all. We also ordered the red pepper paste soup. It was so good! Rick and full of flavor. There's enough seating for 2-6 people to each table. It's not too big of a spot, so if you're trying to get away from the long lined spots - this is the spot to be. Service is quick and friendly. There is free parking in the lot if you're lucky. If not, you can find free street parking.“

“After seeing some vids about how great the mul naeng myun is here, I had to come try with my family. My sister and I got the mul naeng myun and my grandma got the sagol dduk mandu guk (ox bone soup with rice cake and dumplings). The broth of the naeng myun was clear and crisp, but a little bland, I had to put in a lot of the mustard paste and vinegar to increase the flavor. Overall, I liked the thinness and texture of the noodles, but the flavor of the soup was nothing too out of the ordinary. The banchan though... deserves a standing ovation. The side dishes were fresh, well seasoned, and Korean grandma approved. I think I preferred my grandma's rice cake soup to my naeng myun, but I would be willing to come back and try their other dishes. We got a pajeon (chive pancake) on the side as well, which was crispy and came with a lovely soy sauce on the side. The waitresses were also very attentive and kind. The restaurant was nearly empty when we walked in for a late lunch on a weekday. Overall a great experience :)“

“#Best bossam and delicious Korean food in LAAmong Korean foods in LA, one of the foods that is hard to find is pig's feet and bossam. Gobau House here is the place that conquered LA Korean food with just bossam. It is a long-running restaurant that has been around for over 30 years where you can enjoy not only bossam but also a variety of delicious menu items such as seafood and green onion pancakes, kimchi pancakes, tray buckwheat noodles, cheonggukjang, and soybean paste stew.I've been a regular here since I first settled in LA in 2007, and it still has a great reputation.#atmosphereAlthough it has a slightly dark atmosphere, it is always full of customers and there are many servers to handle the large number of customers, making it a lively and noisy place. Looking at the customers, many of them come for family meals and many come for gatherings. This is a place where you can feel the quality of the food and its abundance.#side dishThe side dishes here are really delicious. When you're in the United States, the importance of side dishes and how much you crave them are amplified... but when you come here, that thirst is quenched. The slightly spicy soybean paste was especially delicious, and both the kimchi and seasoned vegetables were satisfactory.#BossamFirst of all, the visuals of bossam are rich.Assorted Bossam comes with boiled pork, jokpyeonchae, and steamed skate, but the portion is so huge that I have never been able to order one yet.Instead, in the case of regular bossam, pickled cabbage, pickled cabbage, pickled pickled radish, salted shrimp, seasoned dried radish, and pickled jalapenos are provided along with the bossam. The pride of this restaurant is pork that is gently boiled without any odor. The lightness of pork was well preserved without the use of herbal medicine. Here, my favorite conditioner is <Jeot Shrimp>. Instead of salted shrimp with a lot of water, it is a good idea to remove the water from the shrimp and add seasoning to the shrimp, which captures both the flavor and texture of the shrimp. Pickled jalapenos are a godsend, perhaps a last resort solution that takes advantage of American characteristics. Jalapenos provide a sweet and spicy flavor that goes well with bossam.#cheonggukjangCheonggukjang is especially difficult to cook at home in the U.S., but I always order Cheonggukjang when I come here. It used to be really delicious, but after returning from living in Korea, the soybean paste-like and sweet taste felt a little awkward. But it still tastes good. You can enjoy Cheonggukjang in a variety of options as they provide a spoonful of vegetables to mix with the rice.#ribPlease grill Korean-style ribs, not LA ribs. The seasoning is just right, the grilling is good, and the ribs are above average.Of course, it is much more delicious than BXX soft tofu.#Kimchi pancakeIt's not sophisticated, but it tastes like it was baked at home. It's a shame that it's a little oily, but the taste of jangtteok with red pepper paste and the freshness of kimchi are in perfect harmony.Overall, it is the best Korean restaurant that is not inferior to Korean food, but it feels even more upgraded with American characteristics. When you miss Korean food, you won’t regret going to Gobau House!!Super highly recommended!“

“This is an absolutely no frills restaurant with about 5 items on the menu, but they do them well. The monta (aka manti, mante) is the star of the show. Unlike other places that take a shortcut by using wonton skins, this place makes the dough from scratch and it really makes a difference. In addition to the baked monta, they also do a soup version in either tomato or yogurt. Their sou boereg ( Armenian cheese lasagna) is good also. All monta is cooked to order, so it does take a few minutes for your order to be ready, but it's totally worth the wait. Have an appetizer while waiting. You can also visit their sister restaurant in Pasadena, though it's tiny with only two tables on the sidewalk.P.S. I read some reviews saying that monta is supposed to be made with phyllo dough. Uh, no. I helped my mom and grandma make monta from scratch and they use the same dough you'll find here. And I was born in Lebanon, my grandmother was a Genocide survivor. So they know how to make it.“

“Heard so much hype about Soban so I wanted to try it out. The inside was a lot smaller than expected so try to come when it's not busy or make a reservation before. The dishes were really flavorful and I totally understand why there's so much talk about Soban. I demolished the braised black code which was my favorite, and I'm not usually a big fan of fish. The flavor of the fish was to die for and even the veggies were cooked perfectly. The braised pork ribs were also good and the stew was probably my least favorite. The price is pretty hefty and I can't say it's worth the crazy price tag, all three dishes came out to be around $160 and the four of us shared the three dishes. I think less is more here because the banchan is also really good and fills you up. Service was a bit slow but maybe it's because I went during a slow time and there was only two staff in the front. “I think the key to dining at Forma is to understand that everything you order should be shared with everyone at your table. You can't come here and get a pizza or a bowl of pasta or a cheese tray and eat it alone; that's just weird. You have to come with a group of friends, split a few entres, share a bottle of wine and chat and enjoy your dinner. There are like steaks and burgers and chicken sandwiches and stuff on the menu as well, and yeah you kinda can't those. These items are fine if you're stopping in for lunch by yourself or something, but I advise to skip these if you're on a date or with a group of people and just get a bunch of shareables. Pro tip: pasta dishes are smaller portions here now than they were about a year ago, but they're also cheaper than they were, so you get to order more and try more! Wait staff is amazing btw; they treat each table very well and I've never had a problem here.“

“Absolutely wonderful. It's refreshing to eat chicken katsu that's both juicy and has the perfect crunch on the outside. To make it better, it's curry compliment was bursting with flavor yet, it was not overwhelming. I think I got it medium for the spice level and it was perfect for me. I'll probably try to the spicer option when I go back. The chicken karage was also superb. The service was fast and the restaurant was very clean! I can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu.“

“Best raw soy sauce marinated crab in LA. Not too soy sauce forward like the overhyped Master Ha’s. Well-balanced without being too salty or sweet. And the spicy stew is so 단백해! Made me nostalgic for Seoul. Mother-daughter duo that takes great care in your dining experience. I can feel the 손맞! Even my mom approved. Highly recommend for those that are tired of over-social media’d food recommendations. Give this a try“

“The food here was delicious and fresh, very friendly service. There are English menus available. The breakfast menu is a steal, the soups are huge and very good (had the fish soup and the seaweed soup). The sundae is amazing (got it to go and I'm eating it now). Wasn't a fan of the pancake, felt like it lacked seasoning.“

“Hole in a wall gem! They're having a special right now where everything on the menu is 30% off! Workers were sweet, attentive, and they even have a fly door entrance which every restaurant should have. - yuk gae jang was good imo. Although too much of it can get old because the broth was sweet. It tasted like dumplings juice? Lots of meat!- seolleongtang was rich and flavorful. - dumplings were average. They're not homemade and was just boiled in water I'm a sucker for mom and pop shops and there's free parking too! Location not so great but tradeoff are worth“

“Mountain Cafe, referred to as SAN in Korean, is a cult classic in Koreatown, with every dish earning a stellar 10/10 rating. It stands out for offering warm Jang-jorim as banchan, a unique feature in the neighborhood. For those visiting for the first time, the abalone porridge and whole chicken soup are essential choices. Additionally, the beef bulgogi appetizer, available for under $8 is a steal.“

“Small operation with BIG taste! We usually drive 20-30 minutes to Thai Town, but wanted to stay local. Thai Touch had the best reviews in the area, and after trying it, I can see why. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, with 5-6 tables and probably a capacity of sitting maybe 13-15 people at a time. Our party of 2 came on a Saturday at 6pm and there was no wait. There's a parking lot. They were busy with delivery orders though. The food was really, really good. We'd recommend the mango fish, pineapple curry, and pad thai. We'll be back to try the mango sticky rice. Pro-tip if you've read this far, the Yelp check in deal when dining in person is 25% off your order. That's probably the best check in deal I've ever seen on Yelp. You're welcome ;)“

“Was summoned to jury duty and was looking for good places to eat and that were quick. This place was close and as soon as I walked in they were very nice and there were a few people in here but I don't mind the wait cause the reviews were great and had great options. The sandwich although looked very simple it was very flavorful for sure. I got the Turkey Sandwich with some Miss Vickey's jalapeño chips. The quality could have been a bit better of the bread like a quality(Sourdough) instead of the regular white Artesian bread but was yummy.“

Huge selection of soups for all seasons, yummy salads and sandwiches, and she makes the absolute best cakes. It's a small cafe-like storefront that we feel at home in. “Arrived at 8:30 with no reservations. Waited about 1 hour for a table to open up. The check-in process was very efficient and you'll get a text when the table is ready. This location is in a mall so you can kill an hour easily. We were sat "outside" but it felt cozy with heaters and covered/private even though it is right next to Central Ave. (A main thoroughfare). Service was quick, friendly and efficient. You can fill out your own order on the slip provided, and then a server will review it with you to make sure you get what you want. They were great about communicating how the trays will be brought out, since they bring them out in stages to make sure you get them warm and fresh. Everything was fresh and tasty. We ordered 2 trays of soup dumplings, green beans, & potstickers plus a lychee green tea. Also the special sticky rice cooked in a taro leaf. So yummy. A+ for food and service. It was very busy and a bit loud so the atmosphere for me is nice, but no so chill. Still a solid B ++. Give it a try. You'll have a good time. Try something new.“

“This is one of the best restaurants we know of. Not only is the food fantastic, but the owners and staff are amazing people. They are very kind and considerate, and very willing to accommodate large groups, or an occasional special request, etc. We've had several larger groups events catered by them as well and they are terrific to work with about these. And let me mention again how good the food is! They have a big menu and we've never had a dish that didn't look and taste great. It's not just Chinese food but they have some other Asian dishes as well.“
