“My favorite soondubu place! Korean restaurants don't usually have much vegan banchan but Surawon always has plenty of options, usually at least 4 out of the 6 or so banchan are vegan. My favorites are the firm tofu and seaweed. The mushroom, seaweed, and veggie soondubu, as well as the japchae, bibimbap, and pajeon can all be made vegan, and everything is excellent. Service is quick and friendly!Vegetarian options: Plenty of clearly labeled vegan options on the menu“

“My favorite Korean spot in Los Angeles. Did some research online for good kimchi and discovered this place. Their kimchi is fantastic, but then I also discovered this entire meal. This is perfect comfort food. Sunday mornings. Rainy afternoons or pretty much anytime you need something soupy in your life.“

“The best food and the best service! This is our third time coming here and nothing ever misses. The lunch is always a great vibe! This last time was with a big party of 8 and it was all handled seamlessly and everyone loved their meals, so thought it was time to give them a shoutout! Of the 3 times we've had the same server (Adrian) and they are truly such a special server happy to be there and be helpful! We couldn't remember if we like the shiro or shouyo more and they were helping us trying to figure it out, was super sweet and funny!! Thank you again!!!“
“First time here tonight (on a Friday) and what a cute place! Love the little wooden bridge as you enter the restaurant, cherry blossom faux tree and Japanese decor. There's even a couple of cute private dining rooms & a small outdoor eating area. Service was attentive and friendly. Shout out to Jose. Food was great! Miso Soup - Seaweed Salad - hubby said it was meh as he didn't eat much of it Black Cod - flavorful, tender & perfectly flaky Mixed Green Salad - great Truffle Salmon Carpaccio - hubby said it was good & fresh Yellowtail Jalapeño - hubby said it was good & fresh Albacore Sashimi - hubby said it was good & fresh King Salmon Sashimi - hubby said it was good & fresh Would definitely come back if in the Santa Monica area again. Oh and love the cute "wallet" the check is placed in & given to you. @travel_lifestyle_chow“

“Wow! The best marinated pork ribs! Come on down to Jin Ju. It isn't an all you can eat spot, but you can't beat the quality. My friend and I decided to try the prime beef and the marinated pork ribs (which is their speciality). Both meats were very delicious. They pretty much cook your food for you. The beef was cut into nice cubes. They were cooked at a perfect medium rare. The prok ribs were also cut into pieces, as well. There was a good selection of 10 types of banchan: fishcake (eomuk bokkeum), sesame broccoli, kimchi, potato salad, cucumber kimchi (sigeumchi-namul), stir-fried glass noodles (japchae), korean spinach, pickled onions, bean sprouts (kongnamul), pancake (yachaejeon), and radish kimchi (kkakdugi) . And honestly, this spot has one of the better quality banchan sides. The japchae had so much flavor, and the potato salad was also good. I appreciated that they offered the pickled onions, which goes really well with the marinated pork. My friend was also excited that they had korean spinach, which most places don't have at all. We also ordered the red pepper paste soup. It was so good! Rick and full of flavor. There's enough seating for 2-6 people to each table. It's not too big of a spot, so if you're trying to get away from the long lined spots - this is the spot to be. Service is quick and friendly. There is free parking in the lot if you're lucky. If not, you can find free street parking.“

“This had to be our first stop when getting to LA, very close to the airport which was super convenient! Very clean, and delicious options. We got the “Best Sandwich” and it lived up to its name! Lots of fresh juice options, grab and go food items. Love the vibe and the owner is very friendly and welcoming! Highly recommend.“

“After seeing some vids about how great the mul naeng myun is here, I had to come try with my family. My sister and I got the mul naeng myun and my grandma got the sagol dduk mandu guk (ox bone soup with rice cake and dumplings). The broth of the naeng myun was clear and crisp, but a little bland, I had to put in a lot of the mustard paste and vinegar to increase the flavor. Overall, I liked the thinness and texture of the noodles, but the flavor of the soup was nothing too out of the ordinary. The banchan though... deserves a standing ovation. The side dishes were fresh, well seasoned, and Korean grandma approved. I think I preferred my grandma's rice cake soup to my naeng myun, but I would be willing to come back and try their other dishes. We got a pajeon (chive pancake) on the side as well, which was crispy and came with a lovely soy sauce on the side. The waitresses were also very attentive and kind. The restaurant was nearly empty when we walked in for a late lunch on a weekday. Overall a great experience :)“

“Ramen Chef Kei is a highly skilled and very talented chef and the valley is lucky to have such plant based food of this caliber being offered. The yuzu sesame ramen is extraordinarily delicious, full of depth and flavor! The fresh yuzu really brings all the flavors out in the dish and I loved it! This is a spot to drive out of your way it's that delicious. Go now, thank me later!“

“Came here on a Saturday night and it wasn't too packed. We got seated and were served water, kimchi and some pickled cabbage dish. I wanted to order something with a little kick to it, so I tried the Knife cut noodle in spicy chicken broth. I thought it was good, however it wasn't really spicy. Felt like it lacked just a bit of flavor in it. The overall place was clean and brightly lit up. Customer service was great. Would probably come back to give something else a try on the menu.“

“The table was dirty when we first got the seats… and I expected a good quality of the meat but it wasn’t..and my dishes came out really late, i can tell they unfroze the meat in the oven.. and the ban can was so salty…i know it’s cheaper compared to other Korean restaurants, but I would rather pay more and get better “

“We wanted something healthy but flavorful for dinner and happened upon this place in the neighborhood, pretty no frills on the inside. Clearly a big focus on deliveries, but there's plenty of tables. We each got a steak banh mi and WOW was it good! So much flavor, and the bread was perfect; hard enough to hold it together, but easy to bite into. The crispy spring rolls were perfect as well, clearly freshly made and decently sized. We also split some noodles and were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Definitely will be back.“

“I recently dined at Arag Mongolian Cuisine and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The fried dumplings were simply divine, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The beefsteak was tender and juicy, while the tefteli with ground beef was a delicious twist on traditional Russian cuisine. The proximity to Russian flavors added a unique touch. Highly recommended for a delightful culinary adventure!“

“The mango sticky rice here is so good! The mangos were really fresh and there were plenty of slices that came with the dish. The crispy bits on top are also an unexpected yet delicious addition and pair well with the sticky rice and sauce. “Came here during a weekday around lunch time. Service was quick and kind. I had the khao soi and it hit the spot. Broth was flavorful and it had the right amount of noodles and meat. Lots of steady foot traffic from people that seemed to me on their lunch breaks so you know it's a good spot. Check it out for some good Thai food!“

“#Best bossam and delicious Korean food in LAAmong Korean foods in LA, one of the foods that is hard to find is pig's feet and bossam. Gobau House here is the place that conquered LA Korean food with just bossam. It is a long-running restaurant that has been around for over 30 years where you can enjoy not only bossam but also a variety of delicious menu items such as seafood and green onion pancakes, kimchi pancakes, tray buckwheat noodles, cheonggukjang, and soybean paste stew.I've been a regular here since I first settled in LA in 2007, and it still has a great reputation.#atmosphereAlthough it has a slightly dark atmosphere, it is always full of customers and there are many servers to handle the large number of customers, making it a lively and noisy place. Looking at the customers, many of them come for family meals and many come for gatherings. This is a place where you can feel the quality of the food and its abundance.#side dishThe side dishes here are really delicious. When you're in the United States, the importance of side dishes and how much you crave them are amplified... but when you come here, that thirst is quenched. The slightly spicy soybean paste was especially delicious, and both the kimchi and seasoned vegetables were satisfactory.#BossamFirst of all, the visuals of bossam are rich.Assorted Bossam comes with boiled pork, jokpyeonchae, and steamed skate, but the portion is so huge that I have never been able to order one yet.Instead, in the case of regular bossam, pickled cabbage, pickled cabbage, pickled pickled radish, salted shrimp, seasoned dried radish, and pickled jalapenos are provided along with the bossam. The pride of this restaurant is pork that is gently boiled without any odor. The lightness of pork was well preserved without the use of herbal medicine. Here, my favorite conditioner is <Jeot Shrimp>. Instead of salted shrimp with a lot of water, it is a good idea to remove the water from the shrimp and add seasoning to the shrimp, which captures both the flavor and texture of the shrimp. Pickled jalapenos are a godsend, perhaps a last resort solution that takes advantage of American characteristics. Jalapenos provide a sweet and spicy flavor that goes well with bossam.#cheonggukjangCheonggukjang is especially difficult to cook at home in the U.S., but I always order Cheonggukjang when I come here. It used to be really delicious, but after returning from living in Korea, the soybean paste-like and sweet taste felt a little awkward. But it still tastes good. You can enjoy Cheonggukjang in a variety of options as they provide a spoonful of vegetables to mix with the rice.#ribPlease grill Korean-style ribs, not LA ribs. The seasoning is just right, the grilling is good, and the ribs are above average.Of course, it is much more delicious than BXX soft tofu.#Kimchi pancakeIt's not sophisticated, but it tastes like it was baked at home. It's a shame that it's a little oily, but the taste of jangtteok with red pepper paste and the freshness of kimchi are in perfect harmony.Overall, it is the best Korean restaurant that is not inferior to Korean food, but it feels even more upgraded with American characteristics. When you miss Korean food, you won’t regret going to Gobau House!!Super highly recommended!“

“Been going here since before the Pandemic and it's always great! However, today they asked us to see our Vax Cards and Id's, that was a little uncomfortable. If I was the owner, I'd loosen up on that and not do what you're told. It's your business and it's on its last legs. It was much better when YOU called the shots and not the Government. Otherwise foods usually good and authentic.“

“This is an absolutely no frills restaurant with about 5 items on the menu, but they do them well. The monta (aka manti, mante) is the star of the show. Unlike other places that take a shortcut by using wonton skins, this place makes the dough from scratch and it really makes a difference. In addition to the baked monta, they also do a soup version in either tomato or yogurt. Their sou boereg ( Armenian cheese lasagna) is good also. All monta is cooked to order, so it does take a few minutes for your order to be ready, but it's totally worth the wait. Have an appetizer while waiting. You can also visit their sister restaurant in Pasadena, though it's tiny with only two tables on the sidewalk.P.S. I read some reviews saying that monta is supposed to be made with phyllo dough. Uh, no. I helped my mom and grandma make monta from scratch and they use the same dough you'll find here. And I was born in Lebanon, my grandmother was a Genocide survivor. So they know how to make it.“

We ordered a few things, Kao Clook Ka phi, Boat noodle, and Papaya salad - the was delicious. And awesome service - from getting our order in and getting the food from the kitchen to our table. I like the cleanliness of the restaurant. We dropped the lid of something on the floor , and the server took the lid from us, he cleaned it and brought it back - impressive. “This corner place restaurant was just around the corner from my place. I went in and was greeted by very friendly and professional staff. They did warn me that the portions are large. I am a large guy with a larger appetite. However I could not finish everything so I suggest bringing your family and friends. The brisket was delicious and there was allot of delicious banchan. One of the course i got the Yuk Kae Jang because I like spicy food. It was perfect! Delicious and beautifully spiced! I will be ordering this soup more tmin the future. My spicy tolerance us high and this was exactly what I was hopping for.“

“Heard so much hype about Soban so I wanted to try it out. The inside was a lot smaller than expected so try to come when it's not busy or make a reservation before. The dishes were really flavorful and I totally understand why there's so much talk about Soban. I demolished the braised black code which was my favorite, and I'm not usually a big fan of fish. The flavor of the fish was to die for and even the veggies were cooked perfectly. The braised pork ribs were also good and the stew was probably my least favorite. The price is pretty hefty and I can't say it's worth the crazy price tag, all three dishes came out to be around $160 and the four of us shared the three dishes. I think less is more here because the banchan is also really good and fills you up. Service was a bit slow but maybe it's because I went during a slow time and there was only two staff in the front. Try it out if you love traditional Korean dishes and authentic flavors!“

“This was an excellent meal. Merci the hostess who served me and took my order was very nice and attentive. The food itself, excellent. The salad that I got was sooo good. The dressing is some kind of sesame dressing and it was fabulous. Usually restaurants treat their salads as an afterthought and give you something basic with ranch, but not Kai ramen. The salad, wow.The ramen was also excellent. The broth was great and full of flavor and was nice and warm (temperature and heat wise, I got medium). The dish had a lot of different ingredients which kept it exciting throughout.Excellent experience, will be back again!(Parking lot fills up quick and is small, plan accordingly)“

“How can you not love a restaurant that both of your children compare other Ramen restaurants too? And I have tasted warm and think it is excellent and delicious and consistently. I've been there now at least a half a dozen times. Parking in the rear or limited street parking. No reservations but it is easy seating. I've never had to wait but then again I go a little bit later around 730 to 8:30 PM. The Ramen is excellent, the tonkatsu as well as the spicy version. Tasty Gyoza. “I think the key to dining at Forma is to understand that everything you order should be shared with everyone at your table. You can't come here and get a pizza or a bowl of pasta or a cheese tray and eat it alone; that's just weird. You have to come with a group of friends, split a few entres, share a bottle of wine and chat and enjoy your dinner. There are like steaks and burgers and chicken sandwiches and stuff on the menu as well, and yeah you kinda can't those. These items are fine if you're stopping in for lunch by yourself or something, but I advise to skip these if you're on a date or with a group of people and just get a bunch of shareables. Pro tip: pasta dishes are smaller portions here now than they were about a year ago, but they're also cheaper than they were, so you get to order more and try more! Wait staff is amazing btw; they treat each table very well and I've never had a problem here.“

Workers were sweet, attentive, and they even have a fly door entrance which every restaurant should have. - yuk gae jang was good imo. Although too much of it can get old because the broth was sweet. It tasted like dumplings juice? Lots of meat!- seolleongtang was rich and flavorful. - dumplings were average. Additionally, the beef bulgogi appetizer, available for under $8 is a steal.“

“Small operation with BIG taste! We usually drive 20-30 minutes to Thai Town, but wanted to stay local. Thai Touch had the best reviews in the area, and after trying it, I can see why. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, with 5-6 tables and probably a capacity of sitting maybe 13-15 people at a time. Our party of 2 came on a Saturday at 6pm and there was no wait. There's a parking lot. They were busy with delivery orders though. The food was really, really good. We'd recommend the mango fish, pineapple curry, and pad thai. We'll be back to try the mango sticky rice. Pro-tip if you've read this far, the Yelp check in deal when dining in person is 25% off your order. That's probably the best check in deal I've ever seen on Yelp. You're welcome ;)“

“Arrived at 8:30 with no reservations. Waited about 1 hour for a table to open up. The check-in process was very efficient and you'll get a text when the table is ready. This location is in a mall so you can kill an hour easily. We were sat "outside" but it felt cozy with heaters and covered/private even though it is right next to Central Ave. (A main thoroughfare). Service was quick, friendly and efficient. You can fill out your own order on the slip provided, and then a server will review it with you to make sure you get what you want. They were great about communicating how the trays will be brought out, since they bring them out in stages to make sure you get them warm and fresh. Everything was fresh and tasty. We ordered 2 trays of soup dumplings, green beans, & potstickers plus a lychee green tea. Also the special sticky rice cooked in a taro leaf. So yummy. A+ for food and service. It was very busy and a bit loud so the atmosphere for me is nice, but no so chill. Still a solid B ++. Give it a try. You'll have a good time. Try something new.“
