Restaurants by Cuisine

Olivetta 9010 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood Fine Dining • $$$$

“We booked Olivetta for an early Valentine’s Day dinner, based on its popularity and reputation. I would not classify it as fine dining, more so a really good Italian restaurant that specializes in drinks, and a more upscale and lively vibe versus a traditional fine dining restaurant like Madeo up on W Sunset. I would say it’s a great place to bring a date or dinner with friends or family, and not so much a work dinner location. The inside is beautifully done and has some great colors. There are tapestries all along the walls with lots of plants dividing the dining areas and a very muted red color that really adds to the ambience. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot, it will be valet or metered street parking. You have to check in with security street side first and then they let you walk up the ramp where you will next check in with the hostess. They have a large bar area as well as a lot of different seating options. Our table was extremely small, however, and the tables were very close together so this is not the sort of place that you’ll be able to have a private or sensitive conversation. Our server was very polite, although took quite some time to take our order initially but overall, I think he did a great job. The music is quite loud here so if someone has hearing issues they will really struggle to hear others at their table. They have a fairly large menu with a lot of great options on it. We started off with a Squash Blossoms, which were absolutely fantastic. I have ordered these all over town and this is definitely one of the better versions. I was a bit disappointed that it only comes with three which is a hard number to share so I wish the portion size would’ve been a bit larger for this. Next we followed with the Caesar Salad and it was great. Again, not a very large sized portion, but still tasty flavorwise. For my entrée, I chose the Creste Di Gallo because having the bone marrow scooped in right before you eat is an unbeatable addition to me. It was a true treat. I love bone marrow anything so this was great pasta. The bone marrow itself added a great flavor and a crunch to the meal, which I truly loved. We also ordered the special for the day, which was the Dungeness Crab Tagliatelle. It was absolutely fantastic and had a ton of crab on it. The sauce was truly what made the dish and the pasta was cooked perfectly. For dessert we topped off the meal with the Brown Sugar Budino and I definitely would recommend it. It was sweet and salty and actually a great sized portion. it was a great end of the meal.Overall, I would say Olivetta is a great date spot. It’s very lively and very noisy but in a fun way. They play the music quite loud so it has a very Friday night kind of feel to it. I would recommend and will try it again sometime in the near future.Parking: valet or metered street parking”

“Ummm wow just amazing across the board. We were able to sample quite a bit. One of the outstanding treats was the grilled brussel sprouts. The margarita pizza was classic, but tasted a cut above, I think it's their sauce. The Caesar salad is big, and boy I ate all of mine. It had a perfect balance. Try the deep fried porta Bella mushrooms with their creamy dipping sauce, you might pass out it's so good.Next time I need a desert from their French tarts and macaroons in the glass case.”

Le Petit Four 8654 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood French • $$

“I think this is about the best French restaurant in California or perhaps the US. This was not the intended destination, but my friend and I were extremely glad that we went, since we're Francophiles!! They feature classically French dishes, but also Italian, making it a bit of fusion cuisine. Okay, a mojito is not French, but it was one of the best I have had in a very long time! I stuck to French cuisine. Started with soup a l'onion. Delicious! A lot of gruyere and the right amount of onions, bread and soup. Next were the escargots in olive oil with a lot of garlic! Yum! Main course was the mussels! Those had to be the largest, most succulent mussels I have ever had! They came with fries, but you really didn't need them. I brought them home. Last was the Napoleon or mille feuille. Creamy! There were three layers: one with just the cream, second with strawberries, and the last with nuts. Wow! Never had one like that! The proprietor was very kind. He brought us our drinks and was very kind when we spoke to him in French. Wait staff was very courteous and we felt no pressure to eat and leave. To show how good this place was, we ended up sitting next to a well known French actor. My friend recognized him first. They say that if people of the same nationality as the restaurant dine there, it's usually a compliment to the restaurant and a testament of the food. Well, that may be so, but we Francophiles will definitely be dining again at this restaurant! Merci beaucoup!”

Ladyhawk 623 N La Peer Dr, West Hollywood Bar • $$$$

“Lady Hawk is a fantastic, trendy restaurant nestled within the Kimpton La Peer hotel. Securing reservations a few weeks in advance is essential due to its high demand. Upon visiting with my friends, we were thoroughly impressed. Every aspect, from the decor to the service and ambiance, exceeded our expectations. We opted for the Mezze platter, which turned out to be larger than anticipated but incredibly satisfying. We also indulged in the za'atar man'oushe, seared halloumi, shawarma skirt steak, and half chicken--all of which were delightful. Sharing is recommended, so keep that in mind when ordering. Despite leaving with leftovers, we were eager to return for more.”

LAVO Ristorante 9201 Sunset Blvd Suite 100, West Hollywood Italian • $$$$

“We thoroughly enjoyed our food and service. Our party of 6 was well taken care of, though reservations for an early dinner were necessary. Only reason “atmosphere” is 4/5 is because the ceiling was leaking water after the morning rain and we had to switch tables. This is not an issue you are likely to encounter. I will absolutely be coming back on special occasions. At the time of writing this review, entrées ranged from $35-$90 and the quality makes up for it. The plates are well portioned, though smaller than Americana; I prefer it this way. The staff were polite and thorough. The wine/drink menu was comprehensive. For hors d’oeuvres, we ordered the garlic bread (amazing sauces!), Fritto misto, burrata, and winter beets. They were all superbe. I highly recommend the garlic bread and burrata. I was able to snap pictures of 3 of our Entrées: Black linguine with lobster, squash agnolotti, and scallops. Oh, the affogato dessert had great presentation (see ice block picture). Overall, 5/5. I recommend a visit if you can afford the occasion. Valet parking was $18 with “validation”.”

Pisces Poke & Ramen 7100 Santa Monica Blvd #135, West Hollywood Ramen • $$

“The place itself is tiny, but the service is impressive! The owner himself greeted us and answered questions about the menu, then gave us samples. Ended up getting the Hawaiian Poke combo with 1/2 cucumber and seaweed salad, and a ginger ale. My favorite thing off the menu is hands down the seaweed salad. The poke was good, I think that because it’s intended to be a new take on poke itself, I was a little disappointed. I just happen to love the typical assembly line style of poke where you get to pick everything you want, and that wasn’t an option here, so I felt like there was something missing. It’s really just about personal preferences, but if you really like poke & want to try something different, then I would recommend it!Side note: I didn’t try the ramen, but the entire restaurant smelled strongly of broth and butter noodles, (in a good way) so I would be curious to try their ramen next.”

Soulmate 631 N Robertson Blvd, West Hollywood Mediterranean • $$$

“I wish it was possible to give this place higher than 5 stars. We had such an incredible dinner during our weekend trip to LA.First off; the atmosphere is awesome. The open dining room, along with the lighting and music make the perfect setup for a fun/modern environment. We started off with cocktails and both really enjoyed them. For appetizers we chose the pork belly sliders based off of reviews online. I personally wasn’t blow away by them, but my girlfriend really enjoyed them. We also decided to share the truffle flatbread and WOW. This was quite easily the best part of the meal. The dough was perfect and the truffle sauce on top was incredible. Do yourself a favor and order this! For the entrees; we both opted for one of the pasta dishes. Sticking with the same theme my girlfriend got the truffle pasta. She absolutely loved it, I tried a bite and was jealous I didn’t order that myself. I chose the sweet potato gnocchi with short rib and it was very good. It probably could have used some more salt. And just when we thought the meal couldn’t get any better…we ordered desert. We were going to get the churros since many reviews online talked about them, BUT based off of our server’s recommendation we ordered the chocolate cake instead. No words…just delicious. We were so content after that. We both are in agreement that this was one of the best meals we’ve had at a restaurant in a while.”

“We visited this establishment for the first time on Superbowl Sunday. I have never seen a manager go so above and beyond for his guests than I witnessed at the Den. It was crowded, but he went out of his way to find seating for us and took great care of us. He was very visible during the very crowded time and could be seen helping his staff. When we are back in the Hollywood area, we will revisit here just for the customer service alone, although the food and drinks were 5 star as well.”

“Great spot for a date or family dinner. Went with some friends and we waited 30min past our reservation because the place was really busy. Prepare to wait. We started with their amazing bread service and a Caesar salad, both great. Then we got the meatballs, very juicy and big meatballs you can't go wrong with that. My vegan friend got the spaghetti squash pasta and although it was pretty good it was my least favorite thing I tried that night. My favorite dishes I tried that night was the losbter diavolo pasta, the chicken parmigiana, the scallops, as well as their bone in ribeye. Food is pretty decent but it wasn't the most mind blowing place I have tried but it's solid and consistently hits. Recommend”

“We had dinner there twice as a family, the prices are rather high but the portions are very generous and the food is very good! The atmosphere is very festive, with screens everywhere and music, be careful it gets really loud especially from 9:30 p.m. because the restaurant closes at 2 a.m., the atmosphere becomes that of a bar. Possibility of being installed on a terrace which is heated when it is cold, there are even a kind of fire pit for grilling marshmallows, to discover the tradition of the famous s'mores! Very nice ! In addition the staff is very friendly and welcoming, in short I recommend this place”

Jinpachi 8711 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood Japanese • $$$

“Very delicious sushi spot that just blends in with majority of the closed shops near it, especially since the entrance was roped off as if it was actually closed, from the outside. If you’re looking for a kikkoman soy sauce spot, this isn’t for you.Ordered two carpaccios, one with fresh wasabi and ponzu, can’t remember the fish, and another carpaccio, think either halibut or albacore, that had yuzu juice and mushroom and those two dishes were phenomenal. Every bite was simply amazing and irresistible. Great fish quality, not a single piece was questionable in appearance, texture, taste; the quality was delicious. The assorted tempura was crunchy, the batter didn’t disintegrate when you dipped it and didn’t break up when you were biting it. A delicious batter that kept its integrity and highlighted the beauty of each ingredient being used. Loved having a tempura mushroom and the white fish was a unique and different touch. The nigiri- where the begin. All of it was delicious. For a party of two, we each walked away with eating $190 each which is a lot for how much we ordered truthfully but because the quality of the food was better that majority of the places we had, it was worth it and can’t wait to go back. No alcohol either. It was a treat to eat here and treat ourselves. The most delectable and fragile scallops that just melt in your mouth, the albacore was a dance in your mouth as well as anything else that had a drop of yuzu on it. Ended my experience with uni and it was pure velvet. The most underwhelming item I ate was a spicy tuna since I was genuinely curious but I wouldn’t order that again and just stick with nigiri. Each nigiri order is 1 piece and sashimi is 2 pieces. Thank you Jinpachi for a cozy atmosphere and a delicious treat- can’t wait for more!”

Drake's Hollywood 8747 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood American • $$$$

“Overall, we had a really nice dinner, but I would not classify Drake’s as fine dining, more so upscale casual in a really beautiful and well designed setting. I am giving a 4/5 because I feel the price did not match the quality. We spent just over $200 for our dinner, without alcohol, and I spent less across the street at Cecconi’s the prior weekend and received higher quality food. As mentioned the interior is really beautiful. It looks like classic Hollywood or a Chicago speakeasy. It’s covered in large murals of famous Hollywood celebrities both young and old in a very dark and red lit setting. There is a very large Art Deco bar in the center of the restaurant. We sat at a booth on the edge and were able to view the entire space which we loved. Our server Breanna was really great and very attentive, she did a great job. They don’t have a parking lot so it will be $15 for valet or it will be metered street parking which we were able to find two blocks away for our 7PM Saturday dinner. They have a fairly large menu with a lot of classic comfort foods. They bill themselves as a steakhouse, but everyone I know who has visited did not order steak, so I didn’t consider doing that for my meal. I started off with the Lobster Escargot and thought it had some great flavors, but it really was lacking in quantity of lobster and the overall size of the dish. It had nice flavors, but just very few of them. Next we tried the Vince Scully Fries, which had some great toppings, but the fries were nothing special. They tasted the same as pretty much any standard restaurant. For my entrée, I chose the Chicken Parmesan and thought it had a nice Ragu top, but the chicken was a bit overcooked and had zero moisture left. It was overly crispy and I really needed to drink a lot to finish it. It was no Dan Tana’s Chicken Parm. Finally for dessert we had my favorite dish of the night, which was the 21 Layer Strawberry Cake. It’s not nearly as good as the Red Velvet from The Ivy but it was honestly very good and was both of our favorite bites of the night.Overall a nice place, but I would suggest going for drinks rather than food, considering there are many well-known restaurants in this area, such as Cecconi’s and Craigs. I would recommend for a date or a dinner with friends or family, not so much a work dinner.Parking: valet or metered street parking”

“Rock & Reillys is always my go to spot when I'm on the strip and looking for an easy access spot for some food and drinks. Sometimes the rainbow gets too crowded or I'm seeing a show at the Roxy and need a spot that's more low key, quick in and out and Rock & Reillys always meets that need. I like the inside as it has separate rooms which help to make it feel a little more spacious. Their bar top is another great option if you're not coming for food and just need a drink. You can eat at the bar but I find it's more comfortable eating at one of their booths. The staff here in my experience are usually pretty nice but sometimes you do have to flag someone down for service. It all just depends on how busy they are. This spot has bathrooms that are usually clean compared to the other local venues so sometimes I sneak over here as well - regardless if I am actually dining in or not. Don't tell anyone. Haha. The sunset strip is a lawless place and sometimes you have to do what you have to do. The food is average but I'm usually just coming here to grab a drink, potty, and to kick my feet up after a concert lol. In the past I've gotten appetizers and they are basic but filling. No issues. Definitely a good mixture of being a tourist spot and one for the locals. I've been coming here for at least 10+ years and it's a local spot no doubt.”

“We were just random tourists and stumbled upon this place during their happy hour. The food was a delight and the cocktails were a triumph. It’s a stunning space hidden behind a modest exterior - truly a hidden gem. We sat at the bar but the patio was beyond beautiful; with lush greenery and a perfect atmosphere. The bartenders were all consummate professionals - that’s the adjective, not the verb. :) The cocktails were all balanced and innovative, lots of great twists on the classics. They were also kind enough to provide us a list of their insider recommendations for other great spots to visit. It was definitely a highlight of our trip and we plan to visit the next time we’re in town. Thank you again for your sincere hospitality.”

Arden Restaurant 8289 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood Cocktail Bar

“I can't believe anyone has given this place any less than a five star review! Our food was absolutely incredible. My boyfriend said his breakfast burrito was one of the best you ever had and my smoked salmon Benedict was amazing. Also, they make a killer Bloody Mary! Every person we interacted with was kind and accommodating. I saw a French male walking around the establishment, who appeared to be the owner, who was taking such good care of the place making sure everything was clean and in order. Amazing experience, amazing staff, I'd come again if I were local.”

“"It is a delightful brunch spot! The waiting time was minimal, and the staff, especially our server, was incredibly polite and attentive. I was promptly seated upon arrival. The food was delicious, and the coffee (Cafe David 507) was some of the best I've had. The ambiance felt fresh and organic, adding to the overall experience. I'm glad I had the chance to enjoy this place and would highly recommend it!" La Tenedor @peluchese”

“The most kind staff! It’s no wonder this place is busy - my friend and I had the best time here and I look forward to returning. Special shout out to Jared who made us feel welcome and to our bartender in the back room who was so lovely - I think her name started with an E. 10/10”

Recommend”

Saddle Ranch Chop House 8371 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood American • $$

“I decided to have my birthday dinner at Norma after seeing it on a Tik Tok video and I was not disappointed! The food and drinks were delicious, the service was great, and overall it was just good vibes. Loved the "That's What She Said" cocktail with tequila, jalapeno, and cucumber. Also, the crab fried rice was perfectly seasoned. I will definitely be going back to try more of their menu. Thanks for a memorable evening, Norma.”
