“Jax offered a decent meal experience albeit pricey. Staff was all very welcoming and friendly. While the bar area had ample staffing there seemed to be only two servers and one assistant for the entire restaurant which made interaction with the server almost non existent. That stated the overwhelmed server we had was friendly the few times we saw her and was doing the best she could. The food was decent but they love their spices and the MauiMaui was served with a paste that had a nip to it that was a bit much for my taste. The bread, served in a butter oil type sauce, was very good but again the sauce was strongly spiced. The chocolate oil cake and Ceaser salad were average. On the flip side the crab cake was excellent with chunks of crab. My wife enjoyed her salmon dish. The atmosphere was a bit loud and the air was set colder than it needed to be. Overall while I was glad to have tried Jax I'm not sure I'd go back as it did not seem up to the very high prices they have. For the prices I had hoped for a higher level experience. A better experience can be found elsewhere at more reasonable prices.“

My friend and I don't speak Spanish. Staff (at the time of service) knew limited English so they didn't understand that I was trying to cover my friend's drink. If someone is trying to get details about an item or tell the staff about their food restrictions, they might want to ask for someone who understands English, use a translation app or learns Spanish before going. The Crispy Fried Dumplings are amazing. The best I've found so far. And the sauce that come with them? I could drink a whole cup of it, it's that good.I also get their Chicken Lo Mein. It always comes out hot and fresh. The vegetables are crisp, the chicken moist, and the noodles have just the right chewiness and the flavor is spot on.I've also tried their Pork Fried Rice and the Cream Cheese Wontons. Both are very good as well, but Lo Mein and Dumplings are my go-to.It's carry out or delivery only, but every time I'm in, they're busy with orders. It's hard with competition like Blue Sushi Sake Grill just a few blocks away -- but here's how I think they stack up. I wish there were more fish/sashimi items on happy hour here (not just the tower and the basic rolls) -- but I also really like the quality of the fish here and availability of things like toro (tuna belly) and yellowtail belly -- neither of which Blue Sushi has. The chef's choice sashimi is a little pricy at $50, but the mega lobster roll is totally worth the $36 if you consider the entire lobster tail inside. Some deets and prices below... “My last experience at a Mexican seafood place in CO was pretty bad, so when my mom suggested we have dinner "at the place next to Vintage Theater" I was not thrilled. I checked out their menu online and saw there were plenty of non-seafood options, however, so I agreed to give Mariscos Uruapan a try. By the way, when I saw "lots of options" on the menu, I mean that there menu is a novel the likes of which I have not seen since Cheesecake Factory. They serve everything here. That can also be a red flag as the chances of things being done well goes down as the menu page count goes up. I was pleasantly surprised on arrival. They have ample parking despite being in the heart of downtown Aurora and the restaurant was adorably decorated. I noticed almost all the patrons were speaking Spanish and that every food item that came out was MASSIVE and looked and smelled pretty darn good. My mom is a very light eater so we decided to split something, which ended up being a surf and turf molcajete. It was very good! The whole pinto beans cooked in lard were another highlight, as were the fresh scratch corn tortillas. Despite splitting one entree between two people, we couldnt get through the whole thing. Oh, and the "surf" part of the dish - grilled fish - was the best part. I am now excited to return for more Mexican seafood dishes!“
