“Where to start! This is my second time at Ore Hill and my mind was blown once again. My gf and I had the most wonderful experience ever last night. The vibe at Ore Hill is romantic, intimate, rustic and calm. We participated in the chefs tasting menu with an attached wine pairing that was perfectly matched to the meals we were eating. From the second we walked in the door to the second we left the staff was welcoming, kind, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. Ore Hill sources their produce from a local farm called “Rock Cobble Farm” that they are in collaboration with which makes the dining experience even more special. Everything we ate was fresh and vibrant. Ore Hill truly is a diamond in the rough here in Connecticut and really is branching off from a traditional dining experience. For anyone looking for a romantic and intimate experience, make your way over to Ore Hill. You will be nothing but satisfied and happy. “This local establishment is open for dinner only. It’s decidedly local with an eclectic menu, excellent service in an atmosphere that focuses on local and regional information relating to the inn and the surrounding area.

We went with the NY strip and the baked cod. The strip was cooked to order and came out melt in your mouth good. The cod was lovely with the stuffing being rich but not too overpowering.

We completely enjoyed our meal at this location. I am sure you will as well.”

“I went to this restaurant to pickup our order. It is Sunday night and they were super busy. I am from Taiwan so I didn’t have high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised; the food was fantastic.

They served us as best they could given the number of orders they had. Some customers seemed a bit upset for having to wait so long (about 20-30 min for my order to complete which seemed reasonable to me given we ordered a lot)

We really liked the sushi rolls and I loved the chicken chow mein.

I gave them a larger tip (their family was all working as quickly as they could to serve everyone)

If you need a go to and you live nearby or if you are passing through you need to reserve a table with them and prepare for some amazing flavors. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟”

“We had an amazing dinner at sunset overlooking the fields.

For starters we ordered the summer squash, griddled flatbread and grilled cucumber. The Summer squash was exceptional!!! Everything about this dish was to die for!! The griddled flatbread was amazing, fresh and delicious in every way! And the grilled cucumbers were incredible!! We loved the basil oil in combination with the farmer’s cheese. Literally every element of all three dishes were well thought through, from textural components to flavor combinations. We honestly could not get enough of those three dishes! Next time we have to order double!

For mains we had the Tagliatelle and Fried Skate. Tagliatelle and fried skate were good, but they both have much room for improvement.

Skate was fresh and cooked beautifully and the pimenton aioli gave a nice smoky note to the dish, but the dish lacked harmony with remaining sides. The haricot vert were too acidic along side the already bright sungolds, and the pickled onions did not add anything to the dish. It all just felt a bit out of place and the flavor combinations lacked balanced.

For the tagliatelle dish, both tagliatelle pasta and lobster were slightly overcooked. The beans made the dish feel heavy in the brodo and the tomato concasse was slightly too bright for the dish. The textures within the dish were not very pleasant. The graininess of the beans, the chewiness of the lobster, the mushiness of the pasta and tomato concasse, and the wateriness of the brodo made the dish much less appealing for me.

Both mains really needed more attention and better balance. It would’ve been nice to see some vegetarian options in the mains as there are so many fresh seasonal vegetables and ingredients available nearby.

Either way, we still enjoyed our time and our meals. The starters and desserts were absolutely incredible!!

For dessert we had the sour cherry and strawberry pie topped with fresh whipped cream. It was absolutely divine! Bright, not too sweet, flaky crust, perfect cook… 10/10!

While we did have some critiques, we would still highly recommend Westerly Canteen. The atmosphere is breathtaking and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back!!!

I had the porter house with eggs and then a New York Strip, with an omelette. Perfect. Today, the cook, was off his game and served me, the worst NYS, I have ever had. 3 cuts and done. There were 3 over easy eggs, I did not order. I ordered 3 egg/cheddar omelette. So, unfortunately I sent it back. She brought me the omelette and no steak. I’m looking at a place to live, down the road. I hope this never happens again. The prices are great. The coffee is great. The cook is good but today was not a good day. Anyway, let’s hope for the best. The skinny waitress, is my favorite.
