“Had a wonderful birthday meal. It was the day before St. Patrick's Day so the specials were Irish oriented. My husband had the whiskey honey glazed salmon which he said was very tasty. My daughter had the traditional corned beef and cabbage and my son had Shepard's pie. Not much was left to bring home in doggie bags. Lots of nice wood paneling inside and we were seated near the fireplace. The grandkids even enjoyed it.Parking: The restaurant is right off of Route 9 in Old Saybrook. There is parking in both the front and the back of the restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: Walk up ramp for a cess to front door and outdoor seating when the weather is nice.“
“Great lobster rolls and beautifully cooked fries at Kim's beachy "shack" right by the sea in Old Saybrook. Lots of quality lobster meat on a beautifully grilled brioche roll. Fries were crisp, hot and delicious, made with really good potatoes too.“
“Always a great experience! Whitefish salad, bluefish spread, Asian Calamari salad... picked up some cod to make miso cod... I did not have time for the oysters today but they are always wonderful! Everything's always fresh and the staff is super helpful and smiling!“

“Entered parking lot on left of the building, and it was totally unsafe for us to manage. We are elderly and in our 80s and had to try to step into and overa channel for runoff going up from the parking space to an uneven walkway to the restaurant. The parking lot on the right of the restaurant is where we should have parked, but it was our first visit and we had to dart thru traffic to park.Parking: See my comments about parking problems.“
“Tasting menu was good. The caviar course was excellent. The onion tart and octopus fritter were both playful, fun twists on classics. My only complaint with the food was the progression. It started out really well, but towards the middle to end it was one rich dish followed by another. I would've preferred mixing in a couple of lighter or acidic things to keep the pallet guessing.“
“My family and I had a great dinner at this restaurant that I believe was recently remodeled. Food and service were excellent and they made the place so nice inside- very cozy, warm and inviting. Two great bar areas inside as well. Looking forward to more dinners there!“

“We’ve been here dozens of times over 30 years.We just returned from out of state back to CT and live west of Hartford now, but have tripped back down to Essex twice lately.Both times we ended up eating at Black Seal.Both times we had a great lunch.My wife had the Cheese Quesadilla and I had their burger.Awesome grilled flavor.Service is great and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.“
“Stopped by for lunch while travelling through the area and was a much better option than the chain options. They have a small building I almost missed as driving by - had to turn around to go back. I highly recommend the burger with spicy mayo and a side of potato salad. Some great options for those that like seafood too.“
“Dined here with a party of 15. Private room upstairs was the perfect size. Wait staff was extremely accommodating and helpful in planning and executing a surprise for my father's 70th birthday. Only down side was that our waitresses seemed overwhelmed and forgot to bring out salads. Otherwise, it was a fantastic experience and great food!“

Can't go wrong with the tacos/fish and chips!Already looking forward to Marker 37 again this summer, great seating/menu items/fire-pits/corn-hole and service! “A very pleasant place, quiet, with a cozy fireplace, a bar and of course delicious food. The service is very nice, pleasant and friendly waitresses. I was there with my friends who almost a year ago moved to the US. They got in love with that place! Separate children's menu with good selection. Delicious cocktails, thanks to the bartender! And of course I was delighted with the food, thanks to the chef and his team! I ordered stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer- just great! I also ordered a harvest salad with pieces of steak - oh God it was just magical! My friends ordered smokehouse burgers and were absolutely delighted! I highly recommend this place! Me and my friends want to go back there in the summer to enjoy eating outside because they also have tables outside!“

We love the specials!Today I had bacon wrapped filet mignon, asparagus and fingerling potatoes!My mom usually has the mussel appetizer which is a meal for her!My husband gets a different fish fish each time.The seafood is always fresh!I love the peartini! My husband loves all the bears on tap and the beer flights.The desserts are great too!The service is beyond out of this world whoever you get. “Had lunch here after kayaking and I could not love the ambiance more. There's an attached greenhouse that is such a cozy vibe I cannot wait to go back. Cute outdoor area w fire pit as well and I hear they have great karaoke. We got malt fries and they were a perfect start! Salty and malty and still crispy! I got raspberry jalapeño burger. Came with bacon, grilled jalapeños and strawberry jam. Burger was cooked perfectly on a toasty roll. Bacon was crispy and salty and put against spicy jalapeños and sweet raspberry jam there was nowhere to go but flavor town after one bite. We tried the malt salt wings and they were crispy and full of flavor too. Bartender was on his own and took a triple seating when we arrived and he handled it perfectly! Food was quick and hot and we didn't want for anything. A great find and we will def be back to try more of their huge burger menu“
