“When you pull up, it was probably the most unassuming place we ate at all week, but Unko's serves island comfort food at its best. With a mom-and-pop style, portions, service, and ambiance, it's a place I'll return to, for sure. I had to try the Kalua Moco, a pork twist on the staple Loco Moco (beef patties.) It did not disappoint. The over-easy eggs were perfect, on top of a mountain of Kalua Pork (and rice,) drowning is a sea of brown gravy. I was feeling it and had a sweet tooth craving for some French Toast, and I'm glad I did. It made for an ideal side dish. Again, perfect, not soggy or dry, French Toast. Can I do it again next time? If you're hungry, give it a shot yourself.“

“Perfect place to stop for fresh poke on our way back from Waimea. There are a few parking spots and picnic tables. The pole was delicious, I had the spicy over furikake rice. The staff said they usually have fresh cuts of fish as well, for cooking, but we stopped later in the day and they were out.“

“We came to this place multiple times on our stay. It's not cheap, but what is on Kauai. Portions are good though, and the food was seasoned to perfection. We found out that this Pacos is no longer part of the other Pacos Tacos at large which is a GOOD thing. The others Pacos tacos we visited had bland food overall. Nowhere near as good as this location.Well done guys,“

“Excellent local spot. Prices are very good, and the portions are generous. The MCS combo with the spicy chicken was my goto. I also got an unhealthy amount of their peach cobbler...simply perfect. Service is friendly, and food is always fresh tasting.“

“I give 5 stars because their food is one of the best, unadulterated local grinds you'll ever find on Kauai. Any plate or combo will tickle your tastebuds and hit the spot. There's few tables inside but best enjoyed outdoors like the beach. Make sure you hide your lunch plate from coworkers unless you're willing to share. Cash only. Might have to park couple blocks away especially on Fridays.“

“Great food and service! So good, in fact, we ate here twice while on the island. Restaurant was clean and comfortable. Prices were very reasonable. Portions were generous enough to share, and still be filling. We even had the opportunity to chit chat with Justin, the owner. Love supporting small businesses like this one.“
“Phenomenal poke! Was told it was some of the best poke on the island and it lived up to the hype! I tried 3 versions and the avocado was my favorite but all were simply amazing! Arrive early as they often sell out. They are also closed on Mondays and Tuesdays“

“We were recently on the island and were looking for a place to stop for lunch. Saw the sign on the side of the road and decided to take a chance. As voted by our family of 4 it was the best place we ate on our whole trip. DO NOT miss stopping here for food!!! The lady that took our order and brought it to us was amazing! The service was fast. The food was mouth watering! If I could give this place 10 stars I would!“

“Our server, Tina, was wonderful. She took great care of us and made the entire evening fun. We were seated on the balcony so noise level was low and view beautiful. Food was back up to the standard of Merriman's of old. Delicious, fresh and attractively served. Good cocktails. We'll be back.“

“This restaurant is a hidden gem! The food is too-notch!! I had the BBQ beef plate. It was delicious!!! The thin-cut meat was SO flavorful and it was cooked perfectly! The mac salad was creamy and delicious as well.My husband had the seafood combo plate with shrimp and fish. He also chose BBQ chicken for the non-seafood portion of his meal. The shrimp was hot and crunchy. The chicken was tender. And the fish was moist and meaty. We’ve been on the island for a week now. This is, by far, the best place we’ve eaten.“
“We've been to a LOT of luaus on Kauai and this is hands-down our favorite. They have the coolest pre-show activities, the best photographer, and some of the tastiest luau food we've ever had.I highly recommend splurging for the VIP tickets. You'll get the best seats, a special appetizer, and first crack at the buffet. The show is fantastic and quite enthralling. And the location is amazing. It's right next to the beach so you get the best sunset photos. If you're in the Poipu area, this is definitely the luau to book!Kid-friendliness: My 9yo LOVED this luau! He got to do all kinds of hands-on crafts before the show. And he really enjoyed all the food options.“

“Whenever we are in Poipu, we make it a point to have dinner at the Eating House. The food is always good , as is the service. It has gotten a bit pricey as it is everywhere, but it is better for us to share a meal, as our appetites won't allow us to eat a full entree by ourselves anyway.“

“Visited with a party of 8 for breakfast, a were seated in about a half hour. I personally had the Loco Mocco for the first time, it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. Others in the group had the Banana and Macadamia nut pancakes and would also say that they are one of the best things they have had in a long time.“
“I was surprised, and not in a good way. First, that ube mochi was a real treat and was an unusual and positive surprise. I was expecting, based on the name and a few previous reviews that there would be fresh cookies but all they had were packaged cookies. Also, we got the impression there was coffee but they weren't serving any.Overall, the store seemed to be trying to be a lot of things to a lot of people, leaving the focus unclear. But if you want a fresh local meal, this may be your spot. But "cookie" isn't high on the list of descriptive words I would use.Parking: Lot in the back of the store.Kid-friendliness: My kids had snacks, specifically fruit snacks (of all things!), and were satisfied by the options.“

“My wife and I went to Leongs 3 times while staying in Kauai. If that doesn’t say enough, the food and drinks were delicious. Best Mai Tais we tried on the island BY FAR, plus they’re only $10 during the 3-6pm happy hour! For food we tried the Kalbi Ribs, Fried Shrimp and Chicken Cutlet. They were each a 10/10. The service was excellent. Servers were very attentive and friendly. Our dinner came out in 10 minutes or less. Highly recommend trying this place out on your trip! Bonus that it’s an affordable dinner option on the island.“

“I've been looking forward to trying Puka Dog for months! Now having tried it, I'm definitely satisfied! I had the spicy garlic sauce, mango relish and Hawaiian mustard. The combo was delicious! Because the bun's hole doesn't go all the way through, the sauce pools up at the bottom and my sausage was finished with quite a bit of bread left. The final few bites were way too saucy and wet for me to finish, which was my only complaint. I wish there wasn't so much sauce at the bottom. But the roosters surrounding my picnic table were happy to finish the bread for me.The lineup was quite short; only about 5 minutes. The food came out right away too!“

“My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Table on a recent Wednesday night, and Jenny was our server! She was so nice, knowledgeable, and accommodating. My wife had the pork chop which she loved, and I started with French onion soup (very good with a very rich taste) and then the baked fish which was fabulous. My only complaint was that the rice that came with the fish was only luke warm at best. The sauce on the plate was fabulous! Great restaurant and Jenny was fabulous, be sure to ask for her!“

“This was near our hotel so we thought we'd give it a try. I'm so glad that we did!! It is an open air restaurant with a Polynesian feel. They had live music (a man and his guitar) that was quite entertaining. We had the coconut shrimp-- very crunchy and sweet-- and the risotto. The seafood risotto had big chunks of fish, shrimp, and lobster. It was delicious!! We liked it so much, we went back the next night. This time we had the nachos-- it's a big tray!-- and the nut-crusted Mahi-Mahi. Once again, the food was superb!! Definitely give this place a try!!“

“Service and atmosphere are great. Quickly seated, and staff were friendly. I bought the mahi tacos which I thought were okay. Everything looked good overall though. Great view of the sunset and surfers.Parking: Parked near Brennecks/Puka Dog restaurants in the adjacent lots. Not too sure how else we'd get to Honu Bar, but we were already lounging on the beach by the turtles so we decided to just walk over. The walk back to the car was a little more challenging given how dark it was, but no issues overall.“

“HUGE portion! We shared between three people. Felt like a more traditional shave ice experience than other shops that have some more interesting / unique toppings. The person working was so friendly and helpful, teaching us about how he prepares shave ice differently based on weather.“

“Excellent food and service. Only issue is the wine and food prices seemed excessive compared to other excellent restaurants in the area. One example is a Ferrari Carano Chardonnay that normally sells for under $20 was priced on the wine list at $78 a bottle. “

“BOOKMARK this restaurant! My family ordered the fresh fish salads and plates, Ahi sandwich, Reggie Rings and all of it was delicious and filling. We had to return after a year and it is sooo consistently good. You will never find nicer and attentive service at ANY restaurant on Kauaʻi. Trust me, they ARE the BEST and make you feel like the most important person(s) in the world. The staff are angels. The restaurant is small, but well worth it, even for take out. They really appreciate your business, and you will find few restaurants that match the high quality food, service, and price. This is a Kauaʻi MUST restaurant. Bring your patience since it is small and you will be rewarded 100x's! You will not regret this island jewel. It's also a historical site which makes it real cool to eat at. Read the plaque posted outside. Very neat!“
