“My husband was in search of some good fish in Waikiki. We stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. I’m not a seafood person so I got the chicken pasta and he tried snapper for the first time. Both of us were blown away by how tasty everything was. The portions were huge too! Out of all the places we had been to during our trip, this place is at the top. Even as a non fish eater, I loved it! There can be a wait, but it is well worth it. Try it, you’ll love it.“

“My now husband and I had our wedding rehearsal lunch here on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Their restaurant was my first choice and they were so accommodating! We had a private indoor space with an oceanfront lanai to mingle on. Jenni, who is the manager, and her employees went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The plumeria buffet was delicious, the drinks and souvenir cups were amazing, and the restaurant had such a relaxed ambience with such a beautiful view for pictures on the patio! Jenni and her team were outstanding, and the venue is highly recommended!“

“Best garlic shrimp I’ve ever had! I’ve been to 15+ eateries ordering the same dish on the mainland and the Hawaiian islands. The guava fried chicken and Lilikoi Pie were epic too! “

“Roy's has a well-deserved reputation for blending creative approaches to dishes with outstanding presentation, taste and quality ingredients. Our fish dishes were exceptional, kitchen timing perfect (not too rushed with sufficient space between courses). Service was attentive but not overly intrusive. Blackened ahi appetizer was plentiful and sashimi quality great. Butterfish always great, and it did at our dinner at the original Roy's Waikiki. Roy's is expensive, but it aligns with the quality and service.“

“It's a small low key store with not much of a storefront that always have a long line all the way outside on the street. If it is not for the long line I wouldn't even have noticed the shop existed. The poke they're selling however is just exceptional. It was so good in fact that I recommended other people from other hotels to go get the poke bowl. The fish they use are fresh, they don't oversauce, and they mix the sauce in only when you put the order in. None of those fishy watery poke that you see in other shops that uses pre-mixed poke. You can custom mix and match fish type and sauce type, or go with one of their preset bowls. I personally highly recommend the preset "spicy spicy" bowl + a scoop of ikura (salted salmon roe) topping. Incredible! It's a takeaway shop so there's no service to speak of. They have a eating area next to the ship by side of the road, street food atmosphere.“

I would definitely come back and I highly recommend!“

“This is the best kept secret in Waikiki! Roy's Eating House 1849 is a hidden gem on the 3rd floor of the International marketplace and although not on the beach, is a nice break from oceanside dining after several nights. Our server/bar tender, Louis, was amazing and we are returning in a couple of nights just because of him and of course the food was incredible. We chose to eat at the bar just because that is our preference but there are plenty of tables and although there is no ocean view, go for the food. If you love Hawaiian-Asian fusion, you will love this place. The ingredients are so fresh and amazing and the happy hour prior to dinner is one of the best values in Waikiki. This is definitely one of Roy's best restaurants in his collection! We had the crispy Ahi Maki for an appetizer. Three generous pieces and had to order a second round it was so good with the caviar. It will be the first thing we order when we return next week. We had the Plantation Style Paella Rice stew. It was so fresh and had amazing flavors and topped with a small lobster. Enough to share which we did after a couple appetizers. If you are looking for something different and delicious after several ocean side dinners, this is the place to go. And again, if Louis is working, he is the bartender/server you want to take care of you!“

“Super nice experience, they told us that the best live music in this place is Sunday from 3 to 6:30, we arrived around 5pm and was like a party with peoples dancing. We were able to find a table on the part less fancy of the restaurant (the one that I would suggest). Food was super good, I tried the pulled pork sandwich and the mango bbq hamburger, delicious. I enjoyed also my drink with Mezcal, and their famous Macadamia pie (it is huge!), the service was excellent and the view is unbeatable. Highly recommended“

“Very good experience, the food was great and the staff was very friendly and informative. They called me earlier in the day to confirm my reservation and to tell me about my parking options since I am a local resident. I really liked that I could park at the either of Halekulani or Halepuna Valets complementary and only have to tip the them. They made my wife's birthday dinner feel special. Thank You. We will be telling our friends about this place.“

“The outside of the shop was very dirty, so I hesitated to enter. But inside, two women were preparing food in the kitchen. The display case wasn't very clean, but the tuna I was given as a sample was very fresh and delicious! The tuna they got at the auction in the fish market was amazing.“

“Fresh catch has been an old staple for us for years now. Poke is always super fresh (my husband cannot live without the coconut Tako poke, which we have not been able to find anywhere else), and we love all the mains like the Ahi Lechon. Today we went in needing some last minute catering for 10 people, thankfully we went at an off hour so they were able to quickly turnaround some family platters which saved our party! Service was incredible too, cannot recommend this spot enough!“

“Most of the food was great, but a few were not. Stick with the shrimp and BBQ, as they did a great job on those. Also be aware of the significant bird problem as the will go after your plate while you are eating at the table. Probably not much they can do, but it's the only place so far on this trip with this problem, and it's a big one.“

“Everything was great from entering the restaurant till we left stuffed. Ventilation is great knowing how the cooking is table side. Though as entertaining as it was throughout dinner, set up leaves little opportunities for conversations cross table, but that's not why you go there for. Larger parties should definitely consider the private dining area available. Overall very nice dining experience.“
“The staff is super nice and their prices are much better than I had expected, especially in these times. As a note, they will put whatever critters you are getting into boxes so you can keep them refrigerated until your ready to grill, boil and enjoy the freshest seafood possible. Will be back“

“I was hesitant because all the reviews looked written by tourists (no offense), but we were doing a staycation at the ilikai and were too lazy to go Ala's Foodland.
The poke bowls were really good! Wayyy better than I expected. I'm not a poke snob, but it's better than Foodland... It's on-par with "Red fish", which I know is technically Foodland.
I got the spicy ahi and garlic tare, and wife and kids shared the Hawaiian bowl with limu poke. Everything was good... Portion was good enough for me; my two choice bowl was enough that I felt full, but not overly stuffed. Hawaiian bowl fed my wife and two kids.
Overall, really good poke, at a decent price, and that's coming from a local bruddah.“

“Hello, I am a Korean pioneer. The collaboration between the owner, a Korean drama enthusiast, and the blunt but meticulous chef, the owner, creates a warm hideout. Every single ingredient is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend stopping by. ^^ Oh, there is no corkage fee for soju beer, so buy it at the nearby ABC Mar.“
“Seafood connection has gourmet and speciality seafood items. I have purchased their King crab legs, smoked salmon and oyster. They are high quality and sold to many of our best in Hawai’i. So grateful that they sell to public. Highly recommend.“

“You can choose your own ingredients from several options. Depending on the price, you can choose from 1 to 3 main dishes (tuna, salmon, octopus, etc.), but keep in mind that the amount of rice will increase accordingly. Choose the sauce to go with the main dish (soy sauce or spicy), side (avocado, kimchi, etc.), and furikake (seaweed, flying fish, etc.).“

“We came here on a Saturday evening at 6PM for their AYCE sushi thinking that with rail construction this location wouldn't be that busy. Boy could I be more wrong. This location was busy. We had a party of eight that we could have gotten seated right away however in two separate booths. Obviously if you had a small group you would be fine but we all wanted to sit together. We were fortunate enough that a table was about to leave so we got seated relatively quick. As I mentioned they were busy and seemed short staffed. The girls did what they could to get things done in a timely manner even with the volume of people there.
The food was comparable to the Ewa location which we been to before. We ate a feast there and could honestly say we got our value worth of Sushi. If you are in town and looking for a good AYCE, then please give this place a try. Support local business especially being that there is so much construction that I'm sure has impacted them in one way or another.“

“Amazing food and music! This is my favorite place to bring people during the week when I wanna listen to music and have good food. Some of my favorite dishes here are the smoked meat, Pele prawns, boneless pork chop, fried whole fish, and the hamburger steak. The pork and kimchi fried rice is also amazing and I get everything with the side of poi.... This is truly a gem in the heart of Waikiki. Highly recommend it.“

“Seriously best garlic shrimp we have had on our trip! Just sad we found it on our last night here. We ordered 6 plates and our groups was fighting over the last bits of sauce soaked rice! Steak was cooked perfectly. Salad was great selection of crisp fresh greens with the right amount of dressing. Mac salad was plain-the way it should be! Why ruin a good thing and add tons of stuff! And the shrimp! Onolicious is the only word I can use. It was garlicky without being overwhelmingly garlic. Mahalo! Hope we get back soon.“

“Kapiolani Seafood is known during the day for their dim sum. It's one of the few places I like dim sum from...
This time, we went at dinner time, chinese new year day and had the 8 course dinner. It was good, but nothing stood out...definitely a nice change from eatting another place, the past couple of years. Lol
Favorite dishes are the egg shrimp noodles, sweet and sour fried fish, egg soup, and honey Walnut shrimp. Dishes came out of order, the jelly fish and char sui came out separately (suppose to be together) and I forgot to take a photo of the dessert. It was a sweet bean soup.
Service was crazy...ngl They were under staff and very busy. Along with many waiting outside. On a normal day it's not that bad.
Atmosphere was good...unlike most Chinese restaurants, interior is clean and well kept. Best of all, we saw the lion dance performance.“
