“I came here because they said it was the main store, but it is definitely fluffier and softer. It's nice to have warm malasada donuts. If you take out, you don't have to tip, and the cream is less sweet than I thought, but I still think the original and cinnamon are the best.Lihing has an interesting slightly salty taste.“
“The best fresh hot masaladas ever! We used maps to find this food truck and it took us to the mall and we walked around for forever looking for it and I even tried using yelp reading reviews to help narrow down its location. Basically it's on the corner of Kamehameha Highway and ka'ikū Road. In the mall parking lot. This location has no wait literally no lines. You must try! We got a lot and came back another day for more. My favorites are he plain and the cinnamon . My kids loved the chocolate filled. So fluffy and delicious - highly recommended!“
“This location is SUPER friendly (specifically Dustin), the only draw back is they SELL OUT FAST!!! SO if you want the smaller cookies in a cup, specifically the chocolate chip...get their EARLY!!!! They are $$ a large cup is $11 plus tax, so closer to $12 each!!! One individual cookie is over $3.50!!! I always buy a ton of cookies before I go to the mainland but I think this is the last time...I spent $150!!!!“
“What a great find!! Ended up using Yelp to find a breakfast spot close to the beach we were exploring and SO GRATEFUL we found Over Easy!! The food was amazing..My wife had a strawberry biscuit special which she loved..I went basic with pancakes & bacon but there was nothing basic about the food..The pancakes were HUGE but so delicious..And I'm a huge fan of crispy well-done bacon and the chef delivered as requested..You have to check this quaint family-feel location - you won't be disappointed“
“What a wonderful find. Yummy samples and helpful and friendly staff. The baked goods are delicious whether you're gluten free or not. They have both sweet and savory choices. You need to go here. They saved 2 turkey sandwiches for us to pick up on our way to the airport. We'll be back!“
“I built a donut wall for my daughter's wedding. The donuts and service was excellent! 72 donuts were not enough they were gone in 30mins! They even gifted us two heart donuts for the bride and groom without even asking. It made their day. Mahalo!“
“Stopped by this cute shop from seeing reviews on yelp and Google! Walked in and shop has small seating area with tables and chairs and menu posted on wall for good and drinks. You can tell scones are fresh and was acknowledged right away when we walked in. Definitely has the small Cafe vibes about it and now on to flavor...We picked up a 6 pack of scones that came out to just about $35 total.1- Guava Cream cheese2- Rainbow3- coconut4- Blueberry5- Cinnamon Banana6- LilikoiNow I love sweet, but not on my pastires and I was hesitant about buying the lilikoi and guava but was reassured it wasn't as sweet as I thought. sure enough it wasn'tSmooth flavors throughout the scones, nice icing on top. Outside texture of scones are consistent and once you get inside its soft, moist and flavorful. We will come back to this cute little shop soon! I would recommend getting there early enough for variety.Parking: street meter parking right outside store or more meter parking lot behind shop.“
“A butcher shop & a bakery that are physically together in one business? Yes, who would have thought this combination would be a popular & successful joint venture of 2 owners having the passion in what they do! Enter The Local General Store (LGS), that replaced the former Kaimuki Superette (KS) in Kaimuki. Co-owner Jason Chow grew up in Kaimuki & attended the University of HI at Manoa w/ a biology degree. He then realized his passion for the local farmers/ranchers in support of the local food system while distributing sustainable fish to restaurants, then was exposed to animal butchery at Mud Hen Water Restaurant (MHW). He moved to Berkeley, CA to work at The Local Butcher Shop where he learned how to break down whole beef, pork, lamb & chicken; & fabricate/use the whole animal by turning unwanted cuts into sausages, smoked meat, pates, terrines & stocks. He also worked at Butcher & Larder in Chicago. Jason was one of 12 people recognized under the Eater Young Guns Class of 2019 for up & coming young talent & outstanding leadership skills. Co-owner/wife Harley Chow grew up in Waipahu & attended the University of SFO w/ a biology degree. While she initially intended to go into the medical field, her passion was baking. She worked at Jane the Bakery in SFO & learned how to make croissants & was part of the winning team for Best Croissants in SFO in 2018. In July 2018, she was accepted into the James Beard Foundation Women in Culinary Leadership Program & mentored w/ Pastry Chef Meg Galus in Chicago for a year, where she learned refined pastry techniques in women-led leadership skills. Both worked at the now-closed Hawaiian restaurant, Aina, in SFO, where they met & got married. Both moved back to Oahu in 2019 & jointly had pop-up events at the KS & farmers' markets during Covid. They then opened their brick-and-mortar shop consisting of a whole animal butcher shop & bakery called LGS in May 2023. The butchery focused & sourced local, ethnically raised meat to reduce Hawaii's reliance on imported meats, & the bakery focused on croissants & laminated doughs (folded layers of butter and flour), while sourcing locally grown fruits/veggies. Both areas were to bring awareness & increased accessibility to the local food system in HI. The butchery offers raw & cooked cuts of the entire animal, as there is no waste. Housemade meats include: beef (chuck roast, cross rib, pot roast, steaks, brisket, osso buco, stew meat, short ribs, roast beef, ground, salami, corned beef, burgers, tongue); lamb (Molokai venison, ground, shoulder roast/chops, shank, riblets, sirloin, leg medallions); pork (Boston butt, spare ribs, spam, jowls, chops, ground, Portuguese/Italian sausages, chorizo, smoked ham, ham hocks); etc. Other housemade items: beef/lamb tallow, lard, soup stock, beef/bacon chili, beef jerky, salsa, Bratwurst. The pastry shop offers both sweet & savory artisanal desserts that are too numerous to mention, which are offered on a rotational basis. Some of their pastries include: bear claw, kau orange marmalade & hazelnut braid, twice baked choc w/house azuki paste, guava/cream cheese danish, brown butter mochi w/ strawberry guava jam danish, mountain apple on vanilla custard, ginger & olena cookie, choc ganache croissant, bibimbap danish, smoked eggplant/goat cheese danish. Other items include: cookies, puddings, cakes, quiches. Excellent sandwiches of the day (breakfast from 8a & lunch from 11a), using meats from the butchery & housemade bread from the bakery. We had the following: * Lilikoi danish. This unique lilikoi curd & baklava croissant danish was nicely balanced, slightly tart & not overly sweet. Loved the flaky layers of buttery croissant! * Char siu danish w/ pickled mustard greens & sesame seeds. Enjoyed this savory, unique croissant made for Chinese New Year! Who would have thought to use char siu & pickled greens to create this delicious creative pastry?! * Salami sandwich. With housemade “
“Thus place is my 2nd favorite baked manapua place in Hawaii. They have only been open a few years but wow so ono. If you order ahead of time it's fast. Pull up, walk in and pay. If not you will wait in line and most times that line is long.Parking: Parking across the street in garage , first 30 minutes free. If not $2.00 .“
“Best hidden gem that serves up Jamaican soul food, which portions are large enough to feed the family. Every time we come to eat here and pickup food we are treated like family and feel like the owners are offering their love and passion into their community and delicious food. Try the oxtail and jerk chicken!“
