“Been to a handful of luau both on and off hawaii and I daresay smiths family is the best. The property is very nice lot of diverse flowers and trees to view. The kulua pig was done superb and not overly salted. The dances and performances were stellar. I can respect the fact its still family owned, family is still operating it and carrying on family traditions and the family business.”

“Absolutely solid tacos. I had the fish tacos and the tuna tostadas—everything was delicious. The fish tasted super fresh, and the tacos came out hot, which made them even better. Crushed them.
The habanero sauce is spicy but really good if you’re into heat. Also super filling—definitely leaves you satisfied. Overall, a really solid choice for tacos on the island. Tons of flavor and worth checking out.”

“Soooo good and very friendly staff. Everything we ordered was delicious too! I got a falafel pita sandwich and my wife got a chicken shawarma pita sandwich. We also got the hand cut fries with the garlic sauce the cashier suggested. That was so gooood too. It was also nice to find such a vegan friendly place. Worth a stop!”

“Went to hukilau for 37th wedding anniversary. Oct 15. Was dying for prime rib. Didn’t care about price I wanted Prime rib so so bad. All we get here on Kauai is choice. There is no fat in the meat no marbling and you can’t cut it with a fork. You have to slice every bite. That is choice. And if you’re good with that. Then the rib is great. It was cooked perfectly. But I wanted the prime rib. Prime has fat all thru it and so tender the meat falls apart. Little pieces of fat around the edges and you can see the marbling in the center. I actually asked the waitress what was on my plate (which I have never ever done before) and she said it was prime she even went to the chef to check. He too said it was prime. I have cooked a lot of prime rib in my lifetime so I feel like I know what talking about but I felt like I was being blown off like an unknowing tourist. All I know is that my meat did not look anything like what is in the photo of their prime rib on the website with photos of their menu. Love this place otherwise. Been going there for 30 years. Incredibly nice waithelp and an incredible view for a romantic evening.”

“This are by far the best tacos we’ve had in the island. We tried the pastor ones, asada and mahi mahi and they were very good. The green salsa they had went great with the asada tacos. We are Mexicans and know about real tacos so we really recommend this place.”

“Stopped in for a Shave Ice and a few souvenirs. They had a nice mix of typical and unique items. Also check out the attached skate shop. They shave ice was awesome! The consistency of the ice was very smooth , not crunchy like some of the others., so made for a smooth foundation. Then the syrups, wether a traditional syrup or their own fresh fruit purée, the flavors were full and so tasty. Then they top it off with a snow cap. You also have the choice to have a scoop of vanilla or macadamia nut ice cream in the bottom of the bowl. Absolute amazing shave ice, and we will be back on our next trip!”

“Great local roaster that knows how to roast to bring out the natural varietal profile. This was our go to morning cup everyday while vacationing in Kauai. You can get any bean on the menu as a pour over. It was my first time trying coffees from Thailand and India. The baristas know how to pull an espresso shot. Nice crema and rich flavor. Not knocking the iconic Kauai Coffee, but if you like coffee that's roasted to bring out flavor profiles natural to the bean, Imua is the place for you. ☕”

“Randomly ran into this place and it was total worth it. Great chat with the staff. Got the Sampler Plate and Mac salad. Shared it with my husband and it was more than enough.
Shredded beef and pork was tasty and I loved it in the BBQ sauce. The chicken was the juiciest, most tender I have ever had in my life! Could have at just a plate of the chicken. Ribs were also on point.
If you are in the area, go!
Also, I thought it was fun to have the little water guns for the chickens... You will understand once you go.
I did not try the self serve bar wall but definitely something to do next time.”

“One of the best Garlic Shrimp place on the island so far (we tried 8 others prior). Large shrimps (around 5 pieces) with shell on, head on. Comes hot, spicy, and garlicy. Friendly owner Nd quick service. Not too many shades to sit when it gets crowded.”

We ordered bigger plate of chowmein, fried rice, Beijing beef, black pepper chicken with watermelon mango refresher. The prices in Hawaii are definitely more than other states for same chain.”

“This is helpful when you are in a pinch but you pay for the convenience. To go food is disappointing compared to other nearby options. Don't order the boneless ribs, it's actually 2 strips of flank steak reheated on a flat top, not the same thing! Sushi Shiono makes good grab n go sushi and the Wine bar has some great options, for late night too.”

“Really a great find. My wife and I came here on our first trip to Kauai 12 years ago, while out for a walk near our hotel. We just had to come back (it’s now 2024). Cool to see they’re still making really good food in this tiny shop off the main road. Note that they have a menu that’s bigger than what’s up on the big board. Try the meat jun.”
