“Probably some of the best meals I've had in Hawaii!! Ono wrap is great and the hotdog (topped with sprouts, onion and cucumber) is my absolute fav. Menu options are pretty limited and they do run out, so come early! Everything is super fresh and satisfying, and the entrees come with a selection of fruit which I LOVE. I've also gotten different fruits every time I've visited which is fun and a great way for me to try new ones. You can also get whole coconuts.The shakes and smoothies are to die for. Really really recommend any shake with mac nut ice cream in it, it's so delicious.It's a very small location, but has lots of outdoor seating and is surrounded by nice flat ground if you want to picnic it!Vegetarian options: Hummus and veggie wraps, as well as smoothies and vegan shakes.“

“Kalbi and Korean chicken is the best, here. Poke bowls are great. French toast is delish. Pancakes are very large serving size, but taste like box mix. Hot chocolate is great & coffee is fresh. There’s always a line outside; but it moves pretty fast.Parking: Shared parking lot with other businesses in the strip mall. So if the shopping center is packed, then it can be hard to find parking—especially on weekends and when cruise ships are in town.Wheelchair accessibility: Seems like a very accessible, flat restaurant. Pretty wide aisle ways for walking.“

This is a tiny hole in the wall, Auntie/Uncle owned spot. If you want authentic Hilo and great Pho, this is your jam. If you want fancy, touristy Hawaii, go someplace else.“

“The bahn mi here is good as well as pretty much everything thing else. If I’m eating here then the pho works but if I’m heading out it’s usually the pork bahn mi. Nice owner/cook and worker. Polite, friendly and helpful. The eating area is good too. Decent amount of seats and mostly dry even if it’s raining. Worth visiting if you’re in the area. I recommend calling ahead if you know what you want.“

“Mahalo nui au i nā wāhine o ka Papa'a Palaoa Bakery ma Hilo, Hawai'i. They assisted me in providing a whole lilikoi pie to bring home to San Francisco. They fully wrapped the box in plastic to keep the pie protected, so I could then place it in an insulated bag and surround the box with frozen ice packs. The pie (as well as a cinnamon roll) made it back home just as "hou" (fresh) as when I purchased it, me ka pilikia ole (with no problems), and the pie tastes 'ono loa. I am very grateful for their assistance, and especially their kindness. I highly recommend this bakery to everyone who wants fresh baked goods, but most of all, I am very grateful to the Aloha given by their employees. Mahalo nui loa!!“

“Is there a hole in the wall establishment that isn't a true dining experience? Puka Puka Kitchen is such an experience. The staff were friendly, the food was tasty, and the atmosphere was cozy. When you're out all day seeing the rest of the island, you just need a place to serve you something familiar and scrumptious. The curry was piping hot with all the right veggies; paired with a quality chicken katsu it made for a decent meal. Take a load off after wandering around the other shops nearby and treat yourself; satisfaction guaranteed.“

“Food 4/5 - My Plenty Vegetable Ramen in Miso soup was 4/5. It was loaded with vegetables which was great. I wish the soup was a bit more flavorful. My husband's Tonkotsu Friend Ramen was really tasty 4.5/5. He just wished it had a bit more sauce. The cucumber bomb was ok 3/5. Some bites were pretty salty. Service 5/5 - The waitress was friendly and accommodating. I wanted to add an egg to my ramen and she brought it out quickly. Ambiance 5/5 - This is a super cute place. It felt like an authentic Japanese noodle shop. Almost every inch of the wall was covered in something. A fun dinning experience.“

“Had lunch here 2/3 days that we were in Hilo, everything was amazing. The Misoyaki Butterfish Salad was fresh and extremely flavorful without being heavy, and the fish melts like butter in your mouth. We also had a cold water scallop special, an eggplant /marinara/pesto/ricotta appetizer (forgot what it's called, oops!) and crab cakes. Everything was great, honestly one of the best places I've eaten at on the entire island. I like to sit at the bar, as I'm a former long time bartender. Sascha is one of the best around, cocktails were, again, among the best that I found on the island, including Kona. Service was top notch, no matter how busy he got, and he took extra time to modify one of the house cocktails so that an elderly gal with sensitive teeth sitting nearby could enjoy it. I would honestly make the drive from Waikoloa just for this, but Hilo has plenty of outdoor activities to offer as well.“

“found this small hole in the wall place on our recent visit to Hilo. wow what a hidden gem of a place! great food and portions for a great price. cash only so keep that in mind. we had the chicken katsu curry special, pork curry with menchi katsu combo plate and kansai style okonomiyaki. no sit down tables at this restaurant so we decided to stop at Lili'uokalani Gardens for a family picnic and relax under a tree by the Waihonu pond. what a perfect place for lunch!“

“We stumbled upon Lam's after a long day at the volcano National park. We had pork egg rolls, Lemongrass Chicken Curry and Kung Pao Chicken. All of the food was amazing and the Flan for dessert was the icing on the cake. If you're in Hilo make sure to check this place out“

“The food was great and service was attentive and friendly. The volcano roll was a good size and tasty, and my husband and son enjoyed the teriyaki chicken. The gyoza was also tasty. The only complaint was about the seating. The benches slid around too easily and the table legs were triangle shaped and difficult to get in/out of the bench seat without stubbing your toes. We appreciated that the restaurant was open late for dinner, there's not a lot of late options in Hilo.“

We had a chance to meet and speak with the owner, who by the way is super nice, and she explained that the name change helps to encompass better who they are and what they do. “Hadn't been here in years. It used to be one of my go-tos when I was in college and lived closer to that part of town. I am currently very pregnant and was struck with the insatiable craving for a cold noodle plate. The place closer to the part of town I was going to was not answering my phone, so I decided to take a trip down memory lane and get my cold noodle plate from Yen's. I ordered the #35 - the grilled chicken and spring roll cold noodle plate. My husband has some weird bias against Yen's, so only wanted a side of spring rolls. Anyway, ordered by phone and went and picked up my order from their handy pickup window. I felt the temperature of the food, nice and warm, and I immediately knew I needed to find the nearest park to pull over and eat my plate. This was by far the best cold noodle plate I have had in years! It makes all the ones I have had from other Vietnamese places in town and elsewhere seem boring and bland. There was of course the chicken and spring rolls, all nice an flavorful and warm, and the noodles, just the right coolness, but at the bottom were a ton of veggies: cucumbers, lettuce, mint, mung bean sprouts, and on top were pickled carrots and dikon. The sauce was the usual cold noodle sauce, which was again nice and flavorful. All together, everything really was nice. Perfect meal for a very warm Hilo day. I felt bad, but when I got home to bring my husband his spring rolls, they had gotten soggy. He still ate them all. I am definitely going here again the next time I get the craving for a cold noodle plate!“

“We had Tom Kha Soup with chicken, medium spice. My husband said it is the best Thai soup he has had in years, and reminded him why he first fell in love with Thai food. “Firstly, after missing our comfortable food for 5 days, we came across Kamana Kitchen serving Indian food in the big island.We ordered veg thali and non-veg thali. The portion size is impeccable and they have a great variety of dishes a part of the thali. For the appetizers, they served us veg samosa and pakora as part of veg thali and meat samosa and chicken pakora as part of the non-veg thali. Everything tasted amazing and seasoned to perfection. As part of the main course, we got a plate of 3 curries, aloo matter, palak panner and dal fry as part of veg thali and chicken tikka masala, mutton curry and dal fry as part of non/veg thali with 2 naans (which is 4 pieces) for each thali. Everything given in the main course was served hot and tasted great. Lastly, there was rice kheer as part of the dessert which was out of the world.Highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants to eat Indian food at a very affordable price.“

“Rented a car and drove to the Hilo side of the big island one day. Unfortunately it got really rainy however it forced to find solace "and lunch" at this delicious poke place. Taking up a small unassuming shack right off the farmers market sits Poke n sides. Inside it looks very straight forward in terms of picking your fish and sides but man the flavor hits you in the face. The fish was the freshest we had during our entire trip and the portion sizes were enormous. It was absolutely delicious and definitely stuck out in our mind when we think back to our Hawaii trip“

The aunties that work here have been here for a while and the young female server gives the kindest attentive service. For Hilo Mall food this place is decent. My daughter insists on a 5 star rating so I'm leaving it. For people new to Hilo I would respectfully inform you that this cities eateries are nothing to write home about. I've been living here for most my most my life, born and raised. I love Hilo but to be honest Kona and Waikaloa has way better options.“

If your from Oahu and like Marian's fish tempura, Hiro's is better. If you need catering pans, this is our go to place. chicken katsu, fish tempura and nori chicken. You need small to large bentos for your kids sports teams, this is the place to go.“
