“During our visit on the Big Island, we often would stop by the Gypsea Gelato shop for one or two of their delicious gelatos. The two employees , Grace & Kai offered wonderful suggestions so we always had wonderful desserts after dining at one of the restaurants at the King’s Mall.“
“Do yourself a favor if you are in Kona make the drive to Pudgee Panda. The ice cream is so good. You can try all of the flavors if you want. The service was impeccable!! We got the Stawberry Pebble Mountain and Coffee flavored one. Such a cute place and theme!!!“
“This is a small ice cream shop located next to the swimming lagoon (also the dolphin habitat) on the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort property. They don't make the ice cream themselves, of course, they just serve a local brand called Dave's Ice Cream. I had the mango and coconut flavors, and my wife had the Kona coffee. All three were a bit on the creamy side but we thought they were quite good, especially the coffee. If you strongly prefer less dairy flavor or a more sorbet-like consistency, maybe pass on this one. Prices were on the high side, but not obscene given that this is located on a Hawaii resort.“
“First, be patient. You will wait a long time to order (45-90 minutes) and another 10-15 minutes after ordering before you get your shave ice. But it’s definitely worth it. OBISIC is the best shave ice on any of the islands. What sets them apart is that you can choose any of their ice cream flavors, including local flavors like ube (purple sweet potato), haupia (coconut pudding), and several others; and in addition to the typical syrups you find at other shave ice places, OBISIC also has natural fruit flavors and flavors like green tea. You can also get toppings like mochi, boba, shaved coconut, and a lot more.“
