“We stopped in to eat on our way from the North shore to Waikiki. Everyone in there were extremely friendly. The food was great. Our grandchildren took a picture of a grinch hanging out of the tree. We all felt like it was a hidden gem.Kid-friendliness: My two granddaughters loved it.“

“Very unique food and dining experience. I'd best describe O'Kims as elevated Korean-Fusion. Great care and precision goes into the menu, taste, and presentation. Parking is rough. Street parking only. On weekends its pretty easy to find street parking nearby. Weekdays, probably it is difficult. Upon entry, you will given a choice (if available) of indoor or on the outdoor patio. The outdoor patio is nice, but if mosquitos like you, it is not a good idea. There are also chickens and birds that will be looking for food. The menu is unique. They take traditional Korean dishes and add a bit of flair to them. It's really innovative. Presentation is equally impressive. We got the TRUFFLE MANDOO ($10.95 for 5 pieces) which was smaller but the taste was really unique. Never had anything like that before. Next was the Kimbab Jun ($13.95) which was Korean Style Sushi, that was egg battered and pan fried. Never had anything like that before either. Presentation was really beautiful. For an entree we got the Chicken Cutlet April Special. It was basically stuffed breaded chicken served with a creamy polenta. The sauces were really delicious, the polenta the perfect compliment to the chicken. We were really satisfied with our food choices. One of the reasons why we'll be back is the BOTTOMLESS Kim Chee and Daikon Kim Chee which were among the best I've ever had. We ended up getting dessert, the Elota Ice Cream. It was a bit pricey at $14, but was definitely unique, and again presentation was beautiful. It was basically corn flavored ice cream molded in the form of corn, with toppings. We'll definitely be back. Next time we'll bring mosquito repellent.“

I do wish there was some American Cheese though. That would make it perfect! My wife prefers the Spicy Pork Kimbap. She says the Kimbap is the closest to homemade she's had in Hawaii. The wifey was born and raised in Korea so I'll take her word for it. You also get some fish cake soup with each order of Kimbap. “A little gem. We were craving meat Jun but didn't want to go to million restaurant and noticed the Yelp reviews for Ireh. The service was friendly and the place was clean. We tried Kalbi, cheese ttebokki, and meat Jun. The prices were reasonable and the portions were plentiful. They all tasted good. So much cheese pull on the ttebokki. The meat Jun was tasty as well as the Kalbi. We would definitely come again. The only issue is the parking. We were able to find street parking.“

Our server (wish I remembered his name) helped us cook our meat since we were a bit confused and kept checking on us the whole time. The food was seriously delicious. Ive been to Korea and I can say this was just as good as kbbq there. I had kimchi stew and it was soooo good! I also loved that it didnt have shrimp paste since I have allergies. “My first time visiting this business. There are many refrigerators of Banchan and other foods. I had look through all of them to decide on what to get. Ambiance is grab and take prepared foods. My purchase was fishcake, small container of Taegu, and freshly made chop chae. Employee was friendly and provided good service. There was no table to sit and eat so I ate at home. Taegu was a little spicy so i ate it with noodles and fish cake.“

“Oh my word!! This food was the best!! I'd have to say it was my personal favorite on our visit to Hawaii. Our entire family loved everything. We dined in for lunch on our last day and the service was fantastic and the staff was friendly. My son cannot eat any dairy and everything on their menu is dairy free. “Vons chicken in Hawaii Kai is so convenient and it was easy to place a phone order and pickup. We ended up getting a half order of seasoned fried chicken. It was the right amount for two. I just wish they'd throw in some radish pickles. We totally forgot to order because at other Korean fried chicken places the pickled radish is standard. Seasoned fried chicken (spicy) is a solid 4/5. It was hot, had light crispy breading, and spicy sauce. The chicken was definitely fried to order and still hot by the time we started to eat. I'm glad we got the spicy because it was spot on. We were sweating slightly and the burn was just right. For the price ($19.88) I thought a half order was a decent deal and my fried chicken craving was satisfied. Service was efficient and friendly. I love that Vons is no frills and getting my chicken was no hassle. Do yourself a favor and call in your order as it can take 15-20 minutes to fry the chicken. I'm sure we'll be back. While there is ample parking the spaces close to Vons was sparse. No biggie, and at least it's free. It's good to find consistency of quality in different franchise locations. I continue to yearn for just a bit more cheese, though. But then they lost me with the mandoo. There was no option for "no sauce," just "regular," "mild," and " spicy." I didn't want any sauce but selected mild.They took great care to vent the container so the mandoo wouldn't get limp and soggy. Then they completely undermined that effort. Foolish me for assuming the sauce would be on the side. Instead, the mandoo were drenched in this sickly sticky and slightly sweet sauce. My taste buds were not amused. “The bad first to get it out of the way. The parking lot is small and it's not easy to find street/metered parking. The restaurant was definitely small and where I was sitting there was a drip of water falling from the ceiling. I'm not sure that would pass certain inspections. The good news is the food is pretty decent if you're looking for a more authentic Korean experience. The banchan included kimchi, cucumber kimchi, spinach, bean sprouts, and two types of radish kimchi (white and spicy). I ended up ordering the pork spare ribs. They were grilled, juicy, and lightly salted on a bed of onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the rib and onion combo and the slightly charred flavor from the grill. It was too much to eat all at once so I had to take the rest to go. The location is very casual and the ajumma was nice and was quick to get anything we needed, I'd have to say the food was the most authentic out of the Korean places we tried on the island. And yes, they use STICKY rice, which many other places don't. I'd definitely come back and try some of the other dishes next time I'm back on the island.“

Sign on the outside says Northern Chinese Cuisine but they serve kim chee, takuan and onions with black bean paste as starters. I can't find this type of cuisine even in Vegas! A new item to the menu is chicken wings which I ordered the 20 count but the portion was very generous. If you're ever in Tahoe, you MUST stop at Wing's Korean Chicken in Incline Village. Their chicken is delicious and large. Best Korean chicken in US so far. You get the gloves too.“

Usually I don't care for some other places bbq meat (bulgogi) but theirs is excellent. Nice and tender ... well-seasoned and no gamey taste. Meat jun was also tender and had just the right amount of egg coating. Vegetables were good as well as the Mac salad. Parking can get a bit busy so what I do is I park on the second level at the far end of the parking lot which is at the ocean or Waikiki side. Take the elevator down to the ground level and YoonCY is just to the right.“

There is plenty of parking and the prices are great. The service was great, she went out of her way to painstakingly give us directions. “The food was really delicious, but the big downside was that there was a very long waiting time. The person in front of me asked if I had ever been here before, and he started talking by saying that it was his first time here. He said that he had been waiting for over 20 minutes and it seemed like it was taking too long. If he had known, he would have gone to that Chinese restaurant over there and started talking. Then I asked the person next to me if he had ever been to this place, and he said it was delicious. Then, as more time passed, I looked inside to see why it was taking so long, and I guess they were making fresh meat and cooking it. They put side dishes and rice from the front and delivered it to the back. The person in charge of meat waited for a while, received the seasoned meat, and started cooking it. It felt like I was doing it. Meanwhile, other customers were coming and loitering in front of the ordering counter, and the lady who was taking the side dishes was doing nothing, but since the customers had been waiting for a long time, she told them to wait a moment and called a middle-aged woman who seemed to be the owner. I don't know if he went into the kitchen to help with the cooking, but it's also true that the counter is empty for a long time... .. Or, if the person next to him saw Shun about to order, he would at least tell him to wait, or he would just sit there and watch, and there would be 4-6 people waiting in line, and a few of them would go to another restaurant. And as time went by and the food was finished, it got busy as people started pouring out portions for 5 or 6 people, starting from the person in front of me. “Meat Jun at Tasty bbq is delicious. Ample portions and they also have delightful side dishes. So many choices outside the normal 5 or 6 that so normally see in most restaurants. We are also huge fans of the Spicy and regular bbq pork, and Kalbi. The service is great, they are attentive to helping you choose your sides and give very generous portions of those as well. My go to's are the zucchini jun, choi sum, cucumber kim chee and Taegu when they have it, otherwise double up on the zucchini it's wonderful. There is seating available and the restaurant is clean and well lit. Take out orders are ready when promised and in my case, a regular plate is dinner and tomorrow's lunch. Been a patron here for about 10 years or so and in my opinion, best Korean take out on the windward side.“
