“Everything I have tried here is really good, and the food they sell down at the farmers market is out of this world delicious. The owners are kind and make you feel welcome, as do the employees. Last time I was in they had added some fantastic art. I cannot recommend this place enough!“
“Love this place, awesome place to come de-stress with your friends and have a few beers. They have party rooms, shuffle board, darts, an arcade, all alongside the main attraction of axe throwing. This location has a bunch of pretty cool staff members ready to help you learn the ropes. Would definitely recommend.“
“They really put on a lot if topping, especially the meat Marvel and Taco pizza. Parking is difficult you have to find a lot where there isn't permit parking and then there is parking meters. But once navigating the parking you will be rewarded with a wonderful pizza.“
“I don't live in Iowa City anymore but whenever I'm back for work, Shorts is a place I make sure to stop by. They usually have one of my favorite beers on draft--Blonde Fatale. Their menu has a variety of burgers which can all be subbed out for grilled chicken or a veggie patty. Their fries are some of my favorite I've had, and I love to have a good dipping sauce with my fries so I usually ask for the garlic aioli. They also have shorts sauce on the table which is mildly spicy with good flavor. The restaurant is small and dark, so if you come during busy hours you may have to wait a bit for your table.“
“Went in with my boyfriend last Friday for date night. The main room with the bar was packed so our server sat us in the other room in the back were it was quieter. We ordered a few drinks, I tried the Elderflower Spritz, which was delicious, and my boyfriend got a beer. The server was a sweetheart but seemed a little nervous. But theymade sure we were taken care of, he checked in on us periodically and made sure everything was to our liking! The food took a little longer than I had hoped, but given how busy it was I understand the wait! Overall it was a great experience and we’ll been back again soon!“
“I had a black bean burger with fries, others had breaded pork tenderloin, burgers and fries. All very good. Farm to table Iowa food. Locally sourced. The fries are very good. Friendly service. Plenty of TVs to catch the game. Delicious burgers!“
“We rented a pontoon boat for the day, and they were really great in orienting to the boat and the lake. They let us load the boat before putting the boat in the water. We called when we were about 15 minutes away, and they were there to get the boat. They let us dock and get our stuff out before they loaded the boat to return it to the lodge. They told us to just leave the trash, and they would clean it up. It made for an easy trip with minimal effort. Gas was included.“
“can't say enough about the dedication of their employees. we recently stayed at the hampton which is connected to them. even during the blizzard of 1/24 they were able to get enough staff to keep it open allowing us the have a cooked meal instead of more hospital cafeteria food. I was even surprised when they had prime rib ready. it was very tasty and not dry and stringy like some have. topped it off with some delicious bread pudding. can't say thank you enough and if we're ever in the area again will be seeing you again.“

“The service was a little slow, but considering that we were there In the early afternoon on the Tuesday before Christmas, it's totally understandable. You brought our entrées out and got my order wrong, but was quick to remedy the situation, and when it came out, my food was phenomenal. Very hot and fresh. The atmosphere is very cool reminded me of a "new wave" Mexican restaurant. Wasn't busy but there again, were there in early afternoon and it happened to be a Tuesday. But according to some of my friends that live in the IRL, it's never really that busy, so do yourself a favor and head on over there and give them a shot!!! Speaking of which, they do have some really good tequilas as well.“
