“'Bout time this place figured things out. Finally, there's food in the warmers (and it's fresh and hot!), there are people behind the registers that are actually working. The employees appear happy and look professional, the store is clean and stocked. Even the parking lot and windows somehow look cleaner.I've lived in this town for about eight years. This Casey's staff--management included--seems to turn over entirely at least every eighteen months. In the past, employees have always been unkempt, unsanitary (a couple years ago one even sometimes worked in the kitchen without shoes--they hurt her feet), and very, very unhappy. I hated coming to this store because they were never taking cash--no one ever went to the bank. I spent all of last year driving to the Casey's on the other side of the highway just to get soda (pop?) from a fountain without sludge on the tips. But now, the store on First Street is hitting the mark! Let's hope it holds.“
“Good food and drink spot in Kalona! In the words of my friend: "There's a few restaurants and the brewery... the brewery is good." Upon arrival, we saw the place was nearly empty and requested a table a bit of distance away from others as one of our group members is immunosupressant. The younger hostess got frustrated with us quickly and almost made us want to leave. SERVICE: 5/5 We opted for a spot at the bar - since it was basically empty - and this saved our experience. The bartender (and our server) was extremely kind and fun, as well as the other woman working that evening. We loved connecting and chatting with them! DRINKS: 5/5 I got a root beer on tap, and the rest of our group got flights. They loved their beers - some cool nitro, IPAs, barrel aged, coffee stout, and more. Honestly really impressive options for Kalona! One of the servers even showed us her favorite - mixing the cider with their sour. FOOD: 4/5 For food, our crew enjoyed the pork tenderloin sandwich and black and bleu burger. Unfortunately, the stir fry rice was too mushy and overdone. AMBIANCE: 4/5 Cozy vibes, but the seating arrangements are a bit funny - there's a large space on one side with no seating, and you can't eat at the sofas.“
“This is a little pizza place built into the BP. They've got a little bit of everything, from pizza to burgers, subs and fried appetizers. The ladies were nice & the food is cheap. Tasted good too for being the only food option in the area.“
