“We celebrated my son’s 9th birthday at the pelican post today and I wish I could leave a 20 star review! The food was amazing, the staff was very friendly, and the service was top notch! Mel and Emma were amazing and we will definitely be back! Thanks for a great meal and great experience!“
“The people who work at Hy-Vee are generally very helpful. The only complaint is the pharmacy drive-thru gets extremely congested. I almost saw a fight there the other day when an unsuspecting senior pulled in the line and it was ahead of the man who had been waiting for quite awhile..he started honking then it got more aggressive until he got out of his car and started to yell at the person... it really was a scary situation... the drive-thru does need to be reconfigured as it generally has a long line. The store usually have what you need but I recommend making sure to watch when items are on sale that they ring up properly because sometimes that doesn't happen.“
“This bar is lost in time. I mean this in the most fantastic way. Jukebox by the pool table couple pinball games and amazing bar food. Like classic bar food, not the new age, frozen pizza, and hamburger patties bar food good Ole classic real made bar food.“
“Not many places offering the selection of beers and ciders they have. Even as more of a bourbon drinker this was impressive. For the meal we had the ham balls and a fried pork tenderloin sandwich. Food tasted good, had a nice presentation, and was out relatively quick. Would definitely come back to try other stuff. Also a neat decor inside.“
“We have eaten here years ago while traveling through and they did not disappoint again. My schnitzel first came out burnt but quickly asked for it to be replaced and wow it was amazing. Potatoes were a little cool but salad was great. Husbands knockwurst was fantastic. We had the large pretzel and was perfect! Can you say leftovers!“
“The east side of the river really isn’t dirty anymore. It’s been gentrified with your typical cookie cutter businesses and people. I enjoyed my Saturday afternoon visit. The prices are typical with the area. The bartender was on point and it wasn’t to sticky. For me the ambience wasn’t what I expected. Numerous bachelorette parties and those people that ride that drinking wagon thing came and went. A privileged frat boy sorority girl feel but maybe it was just the day. Without the patio I don’t think I’d bother with the place and I wonder what happens in the winter 3/4s of their seating disappears. I’ll swing in again to enjoy a nice patio evening but maybe on a weekday instead.“
“The Royal Mile is an "English Pub" that really wants to be an Irish Pub. They should change the name in go all in for the ☘️. I say this as a compliment.Lots of great whiskey options and they know how to pour a great pint of Guinness and the servers have all been friendly.“
“A great location and space for all Bear's fans. And even if you are not a Bear's fan, you will enjoy hanging out in this cozy sliver of Chicago here in Des Moines. I have never had a bad time in my visits and you can get all the classic Chicago beers and drinks you can think of!“
“Wait staff was outstanding with little wait time on a very busy night. The pizza was cooked perfectly with good onion rings as a side. The very best part was cold pizza the next day as it took me back to my partying days in the 70s. Wonderful cold!!!“
“I was looking for a restaurant that wasn't in West Des Moines or Downtown Des Moines to celebrate my wife's birthday... just something different. We were blown away by the service, the environment, the food, and the overall vibe. The place is just fantastic, and we plan to return often.“
“Been here 3x in a three year span. It's great every.single.time. I've come here for food. I've come here for drinks. I've come here for food AND drinks. I've sat at the bar. I've sat at a table. The food is always perfect! The drinks are always perfect! The staff is awesome no matter who you get! Honestly, this is one of my favorite places in DSM!“
“First st tavern is a tavern, not a grill! It is a great atmosphere and the staff is super friendly and fast. We love this place and they have Nebraska games on all the time. They also have and will put on whatever you want to watch if they can get it!! Thanks for opening!!!“
“Walking into this establishment almost felt like walking into a bar trying to be a restaurant. Very limited seating, so if this place catches on, there will be wait times. We sat in a booth, and the wait was about 7-8 minutes. Our waitress informed us they had a call in, so she was playing bartender to a full bar while waiting tables. My heart felt for her.We had a blue berry mule, which the drink menu is very mule heavy. The star of the show was the Sweet German. A drink that had drizzled chocolate in the glass and the tastiest drink inside.I had the Rahmschnitzel, which is like a tenderloin, only smothered in a gravy. It was delicious, as were the seasoned fries. She had the basic burger and thought it was delicious.I ordered a side of beer cheese and told the waitress, I didn't think it was beer cheese, but she insisted. What I had in my small cup was so thick it took 60 seconds to roll out. Still think it was mustard. Also, I never received my spatzel.I will attribute this to the short staffing, but for a new restaurant, you need to step the game up as your concept as real potential.“
“Some of the best burgers and fries around. Huge portions. Staff is awesome. Full bar with lots of specialty drinks. Lots of TVs for the sports enthusiasts.Parking: Shared strip mall lot, plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: Kids menu option, great shakes that everyone can shareWheelchair accessibility: No step entry with accommodating tables and space“
“We were visiting from out of town in late January. Des Moines had just had a heavy snowfall and the streets were not in great shape so we wanted to find a BBQ restaurant close to our hotel and found Rrackss via the Yelp app. We were there at 6:00 on a Friday night and there were no customers in the restaurant. We thought they might be closed. Parking was limited as they share a small parking lot with other businesses. It was dark, raining hard, and the street in front of the building was very narrow because of the piled up snow and it did not feel like we could park there. The food was delicious, served quickly, and really hit the spot. Another couple came into the restaurant shortly after we did and with only four customers the waiters were able to be very attentive. Come on, Des Moines, support this great restaurant!“
“Love Quinton's for the people and the servers that are always cracking jokes. Go to Trivia here a lot and have enjoyed it every time. If you're looking for a place with great drink deals and some food then this isn't a bad stop at all.“
“Came here on Saint Patrick's Day for the green beer. We also tried the Green Caramel Apple cider. It was very sweet and delicious. It was fairly busy but no wait. The food options were amazing. Not limited to typical bar food. We had a Reuben, Kimchi flat bread, and brussel sprouts. It was so much food, but so good we couldn't stop eating.“
