“After growing up within the Latino community, eating authentic Mexican dishes, and learning how to cook within that community, I'm pretty particular about the Mexican food establishments I give my hard-earned cash to, because I know what good Mexican food is and it is often not what you get...Cinco Hermanos gets my money happily!As such, I often have certain requests that may not be on a menu, but I know are doable, based on my knowledge of Mexican cuisine. Not only do they happily receive my request during my phone order, the request is always executed correctly and to my liking.My husband doesn't like certain things in his burrito, and when ordering from other places, those things were either in there, or replaced with other "fillers." He orders the same exact thing every time, so he has often been disappointed...and his requests are easy like no lettuce and no rice inside the burrito...no biggie, right? The first time we ordered the way my hubby likes his burrito, from Cinco Hermanos, not only did they get the order right, they added some extra meat in the burrito as the "filler." That's customer service and attention to detail right there!I love that their tacos ARE NOT GREASY!! We love tacos al pastor, but they are often bathing in grease, which is actually just laziness on the cook's part...I know, because I make them at home, often. I usually don't like to order carryout tacos as a result, because they arrive home soggy and greasy...NOT the experience I've had at Cinco Hermanos! The tortillas rarely have any extra grease on them and the meat is the same. Any tacos I've ever ordered from them arrive home intact, non-soggy, and as delicious as if they were just prepared in my own kitchen!I also really enjoy their green salsa...it tastes like homemade. You can tell that they used fresh ingredients and that it was made in smaller batches. It's hard to explain, but trust me when I say it is one of the best green salsas I've ever had, including some homemade authentic versions. It's a little warmer than most, so be prepared for that, but it is crave-able!If you're looking for a stellar caldo de res, this is the place! Not only did it taste like the thousands of caldo's I've enjoyed in Mexican kitchens over my lifetime, it was served the way you'd be served in said kitchen...plenty of meat and veggies in that delicious broth! My typical experience ordering caldo to-go, is a container with a lot of broth, one or two small pieces of meat, one small carrot, more cabbage than anything, and half a potato...not even enough meat to make a decent taco to eat with the broth. I ordered this one weekend I was sick, and let me tell you, it hit ALL the right spots! Rich broth with an abundance of meat and veggies...exactly the way it would be served in my home kitchen. I was floored when I opened the container and saw it, and then more pleasantly surprised when I tasted it...perfection! Just know that it's only available on weekends and totally worth the wait! Oh, and one of my requests, LOTS of limes, was absolutely fulfilled, happily. Hats off to this place for great customer service!I've not had one thing on the menu that has displeased me, nor has my husband. Not one.Not only is the food delicious, the service is impeccable. I have certain requests when I order carryout, not excessive by any means, just certain things we prefer, like only green salsa and no plastic utensils necessary. At other places we've ordered, 8 out of 10 times, there's a bunch of red salsa in the bag - along with the green - and a bunch of plastic forks that end up in our garbage can. EVERY SINGLE TIME we order from Cinco Hermanos, the instructions are followed to a T, which tells me that they're good business people and not throwing their money in our garbage can. “First time visit. Had a good experience. Rachel took my order and was very polite and personable. It was a pleasure chatting with her while waiting for my (to-go)order. While waiting, I also watched a team of employees work well together (even through the were short staffed). Our food was pretty good. Personally not a fan of the baked potatoes as mine was overcooked. Highly recommend the Cuban sandwich.I spoke briefly with the GM (Sunshine) and commended her on everything. People just don’t say thank you enough these days.Looking forward to returning.“
“Mr. Submarine is so much better than some of the other competitors out there. Specifically that one team with the green and yellow colors. Their bread is second best to my favorite red and black team, and the service is a little more helpful. I have heard that other locations can vary in quality, but when my local Polish deli has closed, I come here for a decent sandwich. The employees are always patient with you and make sure you're comfortable with your decision on toppings before they actually place them on your sandwich. I definitely feel like their vegetables are fresh, and the meat is tasty, but not top quality. Again, I am comparing a chain to Euro-style sandwiches. I'm not expecting top tier, but I am definitely happy with the sandwich I get, which is always the Mr. Sub. This location is hidden in a Mobil gas station, which I would have never found had I not searched for places to eat in Fox Lake. I barely know the area, having moved here from Chicago. Definitely check them out. What's also cool is that if there are other incidentals that you need from the gas station shop, it's there for you to purchase along with your sandwich. Love it!“

“Great food, great people. Ernest is a great guy. Kind and friendly staff. Warm and inviting atmosphere. The pizza is FANTASTIC. The oven they have looks really cool for one but it perfectly softens yet crisps the fresh dough. Think of MOD pizza with fresh ingredients. The staff was informative about how they prepare and store the ingredients without me having to ask. They had a wide range of toppings for their pizzas. If pizza isn’t your thing, no worries! They got something for everyone! Would definitely recommend!Vegetarian options: They have plenty of fresh veggies ranging from artichoke to olives to mushrooms.Parking: Huge lot! “I absolutely love Grannys! I’ve been going there since it was in Antioch and I love that it’s in my hometown now. The food has always been superb, especially their house made sourdough toast and their gravy recipe! The staff is always nice and I love when the owner is there because he always comes to say hi and remembers my family. It’s also fun to take my kiddo there as they always make her feel special and hang her drawings. Highly recommend anyone in the area stop here for a tasty meal.“

“Really good size portions for their sandwiches. Oven roasted wings were on the smaller size but delicious in flavor. We had the garlic parm and the moonshine bbq sauce. We also had the Italian beef egg rolls and while we’ve had them before at other places, these were smaller and less meaty in comparison. Prices are on the higher end of the spectrum but not outrageous. For the portion size you get we thought it was reasonable. They have my favorite vodka cocktail, Carbliss and given the size of the food portions we will be back to try more!!!“

“I ranked it a 5 because of the combination of inexpensive and tasty food. They have a pretty good loyalty program, so make sure you join it. The app is pretty easy to use. I always order ahead on the app, then pick it up in the restaurant and don't have to wait. Lastly, always check your food. They make a lot of mistakes. My wife and I go here a lot.Vegetarian options: They offer tofu and it's pretty good because of the sauces that they use.Parking: It's in a strip mall so basically they never fill up in their parking lot.Kid-friendliness: It's a loud atmosphere, so it's kid friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: It's not very wheelchair accessible unless you have someone bring the food out to your car, which they do as part of their regular operation.“

They are too busy flirting with each other to catr about your order. Even when you are right there and able to watch the package your food order, they just throw things around and ignore you completely. If you can put up with that, the food is worth a visit.“
