“I'm a sucker for Heritage's Happy Hour Oyster for a while so had to circle back for the restaurant week. The whole experience was giving East meets West as it covers a good range of dishes/inspired cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised with how each courses was planned out, with very balanced flavor combinations, leaving me full but not uncomfortably stuffed. My favorite we're definitely the tuna crudo, braised beef and fiancier, hopefully that make the official menu one day. Overall great experience and the downstairs speakeasy space makes it so fun to eat and catch up.“
“i couldn’t believe what an amazing tasting experience this was. hands down the best pasta in the city — their signature dish with the hand rolled pasta and the sausage sauce was incredible. i wanted to lick the bowl. they also have a famous appetizer that was like puffed fry bread topped with truffles and we did enjoy it, but it was too much to order with the tasting menu and we thought it was a little salty. the fish served with olives and — i believe fennel — was just sensational. our favorite was the pistachio dessert. and the wine pairings were perfect.“
“This place is a total experience! The food is delicious, the decor is artsy and beautiful, and the owners are absolute gems. my family and I went for the first time yesterday and had the BEST time. we came for some quick pierogi but stayed for the ambiance, warm welcome, and fantastic conversation with the owners. This cafe is charming beyond belief and we will definitely be back. This is the perfect place to stop in with some friends or loved ones when you are out and about in the neighborhood. I guarantee you will want to come back again and again.“
“The atmosphere was more casual & rustic than expected (basically a heated garden shed), and the menu is small, but the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“
“Super recomendado, comida es extraordinaria, deli - deli , servicio, ambiente, la tienda, postres. Todo, todo. Fuimos mi nieta y yo desde Mexico. Nos encanto.Si algun dia vuelvo a Chicago, Cafe Beograd es el primer lugar a donde voy a ir. Saludos desde Mexico.“
“Absolutely exquisite. You need to book in advance, but trust me, it's worth it. I had a braised lamb shank with carrots, red peppers, celery, tomatoes and garlic, with mashed potatoes on the side. From what I understand, the borscht is authentic and delicious (I went with a Russian and a Ukrainian who should know a thing or two about this food). 100% recommended to complete your visit to the center of this lovely city.“
“Tonight, the Wife and I asked for a table of 4, saw multiple tables open. Host replied with "Looks like we're not going to have table free for the rest of the night." Our 2 friends walked in about 5 minutes after us for a table, Host proceeds to not automatically deny them and asks the servers. Servers apparently had a problem with having another table until another server came worked it out. Finally, Wife and I walk back in to join our friends and overhear 2 servers discussing with the host about not seating anyone after 9pm (they close at midnight btw) Great to know that you wanting to close early is more important than actually doing your jobs and making easy money (we only got drinks and 2 apps) Pathetic, will not come back. Sayonara!“
“Support your local mob front!Food was kinda mid and def was hoping to try some Serbian food but they didn't have any. This is definitely a Eastern european take on American food and it feels like gulag food - reminds me of my time I had a nightmare about being sent back to to reeducation camp. Lady was super nice tho and I wish her the best!“
“This is an immaculately clean restaurant in a small, intimate setting, that will transport you back to the Old World with all the beautful decorations brought over from Bosnia. I was served by two lovely older women, who immediately made me feel at home. I ordered the cheese "pita," which is a burek, and which came out piping hot. The Turkish coffee was as good as any I've had back home. Tip: Although Turkish coffee is served with no cream (that's the correct way to drink it), I did ask for a bit of milk on the side. Everything, including the background music, was perfect. Highly recommended. Please note that it's cash only.“
“This was my first experience with Georgian cuisine. First stop was the Khachapuri Ajaruli- gooey cheese, butter, and egg filled bread. Then I had the lamb Onakhuri - kabob pieces, potato, onion and Georgian seasoning served in a clay pan. My partner got the Chicken Tabaka - pan fried crispy whole Cornish hen served with a trio mix of Georgian sauces over potatoes. We wrapped up the evening with Neapolitan cake and Turkish coffee. There is no doubt that we could have ordered one or two things and been more than satisfied, but now we have plenty of leftovers for the next day. The food was phenomenal and the spices and seasonings were extraordinarily complimentary to the food. If you're looking for a unique experience while trying new food, look no further! The Chicago Diplomat Cafe is a must try!“
“I was brought back to my childhood favor food, delicious and amazing. And the taste was the same. Like it's name the garden, it is really a place where you are transported in memories through a good service and a great atmosphere. Words don't make justice to that place go see for yourself.“
“Easy to miss spot next to Jiffy Lube. I came in when I was changing my oil, and was pleasantly surprised. It's a small quiet place with excellent food. You can tell the owners really care about the quality of the food. I had the chicken wrap and fries and it was fresh and delicious!“
“I believe this is the best pho in Chicago - hands down. The owner is very welcoming, courteous, & involved in ensuring you have the best experience. It’s a very quaint, unique spot - great for a date or family outing! Not to mention the pho is absolutely delicious & flavorful! Highly recommend!!“
“Great food and service. We were looking for authentic Polish food and were not disappointed. The server was very attentive and came by often to see how we were doing. We had the goulash and the Pierogi's and both were excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.“
“We are from Kansas City and are extremely huge foodies. We have been trying to dine at Alinea since COVID first started. We are huge fans of Grant and the Alinea Group. They create and maintain excellent food and a dramatic experience. Finally, in April, we were able to visit Alinea for our anniversary. It did not disappoint! From the moment you walk into Alinea, you arr greated and taken care of like your family. The restaurant and the staff are not stuffy nor snobby, which is likely hard to do because of the level of food you're enjoying. The food is like a full culinary experience. Think of it like a movie. Thr staff is trained to truly understand every single element. They take the time to explain the dish, the region it's from, and even help you walk through how the chef intended it to be eaten. The experience blew our minds! If you can have the time, the money (it's not cheap), and an open mind, you will NOT REGRET dining at Alinea.Vegetarian options: You can request anything ahead of time and they will accommodate.Dietary restrictions: You can request anything ahead of time and they will accommodate.Parking: Street parking is limited, and the building has no sign, so you likely could miss it.Kid-friendliness: Ahhh, no, I would say not. Unless your children are amazing.Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs everywhere are so likely not easy to do.“
“A classy French restaurant is rare but this place does it right. It was a real treat. The food and drinks were great and the atmosphere was just amazingParking: They have a valet service but we didn't notice, and so the street parking is hard to find if you can't get a spot on the main street. The backstreets are zoned for residents“
“I have traveled as far south as the Mexican peninsula and as far north as the Canadian Yucatan...and decided it was time to try food in my backyard. In terms of seating, for a small bar, SmallWorld has ample seating whether at the bar, tables in the back, or tables outside. There are big screens on every wall so you won't miss the action of local or national sports. Most importantly, I cam for Taco Tuesday and it's not over exaggeration to say the tacos are the best hardshell around. They were reasonably priced and did the job when it came to filling me up with good food. The only grips with my visit is that there were only two bartenders who had to play waitress as well for a bar full of maybe 40 people so that made service slow (but they kept a positive attitude)“
“Every time me and my cousin pass by Sandy’s we also order the burgers there, they also provide friendly service and thats what makes Sandy’s bakery even better. My favorite part of it is its food mainly because its so good being one of the only Serbian bakery’s near me too.“
“This was the most flavorful meal I have had in years! We asked for house picks and shared amongst 3 of us. AMAZING. Service exceptional. The staff all helped each other with smiles- so nice to see. Chef Joe Flamm was present, pleasant and engaged with staff and customers. Treat yourself to something special.“
