“What is wrong with me, I've haven't talked about Sal's? There are many things wrong with me, and that 4000 page book is for another time. The little pizza places are what I always look for. Sal's is a staple. Don't be fooled by it's location and exterior appearance, this workhorse is around the corner of a 7-eleven building. The appearance is small but internally, thanks to the hard workers doing their thing, they produce some great pizza. Their tavern style is classic, thin (but not cracker thin) crust has generous, tangy sauce, and hearty, fresh toppings. I like that the sausage isn't too salty like other places. Don't sleep on their wings, they are meaty and done right. Sal's is 100% pickup or delivery. They have other options for pizza, appetizers, hot sandwiches, pasta, ribs, salad, etc. Dave Portnoy recently put them on an extended map..beyond word of mouth from locals. I never expected him to show up near my neck of the woods, but if he was in search of a "real deal" or "go-to" tavern-style pizza, he made the right decision. Even without One Bite, Sal's was already award-winning. Be sure to use their coupons as they gladly accept them.“

I worked for Rosatis for over 10yrs & although I like the food, the pizza kept cutting the roof of my mouth but with this place, the pizza crust is a great balance of soft & crispy, at least in my opinion. “HUGE HEADS UP: If you bring cake to the restaurant you will be charged a "cake cutting fee" of $2.50 PER PERSON. I'm not sure what happened in the past for this unreasonable fee to exist, but you need to advertise this on your website and restaurant entrance. Being told on the spot with your group and cake is not useful. As much as I love this place, I would not have come in if I knew this beforehand. My family and I brought our own paper plates and cutlery too. I understand if there was a reasonable fee for bringing out extra plates and using fridge storage, but we essentially paid $25.00 to store our ice cream cake in a freezer and have one knife brought to us. On top of an automatic 20% gratuity for 8+ people (which is advertised at the entrance, so no complaints there).Our waiter was very kind and attentive. We appreciated him and the delicious food. I am just asking for more transparency because paying $25 extra for that is ridiculous. Start posting this information so your customers can make informed choices x“

“Jude's has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Crystal Lake. I love the variety of internationally inspired options and the size of the plates is perfect. I brought a very large group of ladies there for Black Friday, everyone has particular tastes and was able to find something they liked. They have a very trendy area in the back with a huge couch/bench for larger parties which was so comfortable. To top it off, the staff are always kind and accommodating during our visits!“

“One of my favorite weeknight spots for dinner and a cocktail. This super quaint restaurant is nestled into downtown East Dundee. You are promptly greeted by a host/hostess. They feature a seasonal food and cocktail menu, and it never disappoints!! The pig and fig wood fired pizza is mouth watering. The wood fired chicken thighs liven up your tastebuds with a little kick of spice from the diced jalapeños. (I forgot to take photos of our food, as we were pretty hungry). The staff is inviting, friendly and helpful with all of their menu favorites. You don't need reservations, however if it's a Friday or Saturday evening I would suggest it.“

“I met my parents here the other day as we both traveled some distance to meet up. This restaurant was absolutely wonderful atmosphere, small & quiet when we were there. I believe we had their lunch menu, and I ordered the Capellini pasta, my dad got Eggplant Parmesan, and my mom got the Italian Beef. Unfortunately I would suggest the entire staff of the restaurant needs to eat that same sandwich my mom ordered. She said it was dry & had no flavor, as if they boiled the fatty meat in plain water and threw it onto a crispy piece of bread. Thankfully she said something(my mom has never sent food back my entire life and I’m in my 20’s she’s in her 60’s) so for her to ask it to be removed from the bill just shows how gross it was.Our server was WONDERFUL, and of course she took it off the bill, and encouraged my mom to order another dish. She settled on the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and broccoli. She was throughly pleased with that dish, so it all ended well.The restaurant seemed cleaned and well managed other than maybe their Italian beef haha.Advice for future customers, don’t order their beef unless they change their recipe.Advice for the restaurant, PLEASE have a tasting going on for your staff members. The person who creates/created the recipes and cooks them needs to allow constructive criticism/feedback on their dishes. “Loved SLYCE Pizza. My wife and I are big fans of coal-fired pizza. Where I'm from in the NYC tri-state area, the best Italian food is in neighborhood family tavern restaurants and those thin crust tavern pies are cooked in super hot ovens. SLYCE brings it all back. Quality ingredients, great suggested combinations, good service and pleasant ambience. There's a lot of pizza choices in Chicagoland and we drive 25 minutes to SLYCE. There must be at least 100 pizza joints in the 25 mile radius. I'll take SLYCE. Keep up the great work!“

“My favorite pizza place! Tony V's was one of the first pizza places I tried when I moved into the area, and I've continued to go there since. Good prices and some pretty good sides as well. They also have coupons all the time for their pizzas! I haven't personally sat inside to eat, but it would be a good place for small casual gatherings as it's not very spacious inside. They do have a patio as well though! Staff has been friendly when I've visited. Definitely give it a try! I really like their thin crust with pepperoni and onion“

He would keep up with checking in every so often which was nice to have the owner involved and actually care how it was all going. “This Giordano's is a cute and cozy place. Also whenever we have it (too much for my growing belly) the pizzas are DELICIOUS and the folks who work there are so nice. “We called our order in and the guy answering the phone was kind enough to remind me we had a$17.99 credit. We placed our order and we picked it up and the girl had no clue how to apply credit. We ended up with 50% off. That's great except I don't think my large pizza was $36! As a matter of fact it was $27 so our credit was not gully applied. The pizza itself was great! There is another location only 9 mins away but We go to this one a good 20 mins away because of the quality and service.“

We had never been there, but when we were able to get a surprise bag of pizza for $4, we decided to give it a try. We got to try 3 different kinds of pizza, and it was all great! I’ve tried just about every other pizza spot in Crystal Lake and none of them have even a contender spot in the race against Pinemoor. He explained that the downstairs bar was the original architecture of the establishment with the main floor buffet being the old upper floor home of the previous owners.This establishment is family owned and has been around since the '70sRecent renovation has brought a castle aesthetic from outside.Everything is updated (modernized checkout, tap pay, etc) but it has kept it's classic feel.All ingredients are made in house, to include sauces, seasonings, pizzas, and a diverse menu that can be modified to your liking.Aside from the menu you can eat at the buffet style eatery on the main floor.The main floor encompasses a family-friendly area with arcade games.The absolute ONLY downside to this place is the parking lot.While being rustic and brick layed, it does not bode well for vehicles without adequate clearance from various potholes.So Don't bring your lowered Honda Civic.“
