“We are from WI and found Big Ed's because it was close to the hotel we stayed at. Unfortunately they we out of a few favorites but we found others and all 3 meals were outstanding. I had a full rack of ribs which were amazing and the wings were just as good. Service was great and super friendly...every employee was helpful and had smiles on their faces. Love the mom and pop local family business and already planning trips back to try the favorites they were out of as well as past the word on to everyone we know that loves BBQ. Well worth the hour drive!“

“We came very early for dinner. The sevice person was very warm and accommodating. The food was served in a timely manner. The table had as a couple of the entrees, a beyond burger and a walleye dish. These 2 dishes were absolutely remarkable. The fish was prepared perfectly. The burger was juicy and flavorful. We will definitely be back.“

“The chicken was tasty, however, it's a bit of a nuisance that the smallest amount of chicken you can buy is a 10 piece. EVERY fried chicken place in the world have 2+ chicken combos. No 1 person can eat 10 pieces of chicken in 1 setting, true, the chicken can be taken home, however, for out of towners (which they get a lot of) can not. They should serve combos like other spots, they'll make more money.Update: ok, so after driving from Chicago back to Michigan, I realized a few things. 1. The "wings" weren't wings, they were actually wing dings, and the thought of eating 10 wings just for myself was outrageous, however, I am kicking myself, because I could have totally eaten 10 of those wing dings. I got the chicken around 1145 am, got home close to 8pm, and those buggers were still crunchy, yes CRUNCHY. I popped them in the air fryer and they were DELICIOUS. Best wing dings I've ever eaten in my life! Get the 10 wing dings, you will eat every one. I got the Galbi spicy ?. Even the pickled radishes were fresh and delicious. 5 out of 5 for me, and I dont even like chicken like that.“

Their price is just $1 or $2 higher than the other one but the food is much better quality and larger portion. You can tell they are very proud of their food. They make their own kimchi. “My favorite diner in Waukegan. In full honesty, I love the small hole-in-the-wall aesthetic. Some may find it cramped, but I think it's cozy. I love sitting at the bar, drinking the coffee, watching the cook do their thing. Menu is good. Staff is kind.“

“It's the BEST CHICKEN RESTAURANT in the area. It may take some time to cook right after ordering, but it's really nice to have CRISPY and FRESH chicken. I like golden original chicken and secret sauce, which is traditional Korean taste and honey garlic sauce, Gangjeong.. Actually I like like everything ??Tteokbokki is the same taste that I ate in Korea! Inside, you can bring your own bottle and eat it with chicken. I have to buy chicken for my son every week, but I enjoy this!(As soon as I arrived home, I ate chicken so absorbedly that there were not many pieces left in the picture. But it's very delicious! )“

“5 star food and service every time. Tonight we had the pleasure of being waited on by Lupe. Lupe is very passionate making sure he provides excellent customer service for his guests. He knows the menu and explained it in great detail at our table. He offered suggestions when asked and the suggestions were spot on. We started with the corn bread which was warm and the soft butter only made it better. For dinner most of our table had ribs. The ribs were cooked to perfection with the sauce ratio being spot on. You can taste the freshness of the ribs let me tell you, delicious! A few ordered the NY Strip steak with the added optional char, it was amazing. For dessert our table shared a few sundaes and the brownies a la mode. OMG, what a way to end the perfect dinner! Thank you Lupe and all the competent staff for a great dinner. Stop in and ask for Lupe! He will make your dinner or special occasion extra smooth!“
“Having been here many years ago, and returning, found that their food has improved, but the service is minimal at best with the owner and one staff waiting on all the tables. After we sat down to a half empty room, it started to fill up and there were not enough staff, not even a bus boy to clear tables.We ordered the Dolsot be Bim bop and the Yuk Guy Jang, which I order visiting new Resturants to see if they are consistent with authentic Korean food. “The food is always fresh. They’ll always get my order right. I’ve been coming here for 40 years! My adult kids live about 50 miles away but whenever they come to visit we ALWAYS get Ming Toy, nothing compares. My favorite is Chicken Hong Sue and the chicken is always perfect. My new son in law doesn’t have a Ming Toy favorite YET, so he tries a bunch of things, and EVERYTHING is great! Any friends who come back to Waukegan from out of town always stop for Ming Toy. The meats here are smoked to perfection with flavor in every bite. You have a variety of sides to choose from, my favorites are the creamy spinach and the Mac and cheese.
