“My mother turned 50 years old and I wanted to celebrate her birthday somewhere where we could have dinner and then dance. Ella's Banquet was the perfect venue for the occasion to accommodate 100 guests. I had the catering delivered and the live bands ready. My mother was so happy with the event. This newly remodeled venue has great air conditioning, which was important during one of Chicago's hottest summer days. The staff was friendly and professional. Tony, the owner of the venue, was always making sure everything ran smoothly and took great care of us. My mother was pleased with his humbleness and customer service. The venue has free parking that is easily accessible. I also hired a sound technician for the live bands. We were able to fit a band of 15 members at a time. The sound technician did an amazing job and the live music kept everyone on the dance floor. This is the perfect venue to celebrate with a 100 guests.“

“My journey to Warlord, located in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood, began with a long commute from the Gold Coast. Arriving at 5:39 pm, we were met with the unfortunate news of a 3-hour wait.After returning home and headed back, we waited an additional hour (4 hours). For that, Connor, a true man of his word, secured us the coveted chef's table seats.Nick, our server, was both friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive experience at the chef's counter. The atmosphere at Warlord is truly captivating, creating a memorable dining experience.However, while the service and ambiance were exceptional, the food itself fell short of expectations.The steak was "earthy," and left something to be desired. The burger, lacking cheese and failing to surpass the renowned Au Cheval offering, was also disappointing. Even the toast with truffle, while decent, only managed a mediocre rating of 7/10.While the staff and atmosphere create an unforgettable experience, significant improvement is needed in the food department to truly match the outstanding service and ambiance.“

“Our server Santana was great, we were there for brunch and we were looking forward to some hot coffee (which they do not serve), but Santana made us some hot coffee even though it was not on the menu to welcome us. “This place offers the most quintessential neighborhood bar feel with more than a few trucks up it's sleeve. From the best smash burger you will ever have in your life (only $6), to Angostura shots, to a booze filled mint green shake you cannot finish, this bar has it all. The staff are happy and have a good vibe between each other which made me feel happy to be there. The place was absolutely packed but no one was rude or pushy. Just a great vibe over all with great drinks and great food. Definitely recommend.“

“I love this place! The music is always good and the drinks are great. I do have to say that the bouncer/ door guy absolutely kills the vibe from the second you arrive. He is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five. I’m sure if you go when it’s less busy and he’s not there it would be a flawless experience. But this guy is constantly making remarks about other people and pissing people off before you go inside. He makes me so uncomfortable that the last time I was there I didn’t even want to wait in the bathroom line behind him bc I didn't want to have to deal with whatever he was going go say.“

“This is my absolute favorite neighborhood bar. They have Aviary style cocktails at Portage Park prices and amazing culinary fare. They have the best happy hour specials, and the staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The atmosphere wins the vibe check, and their music is always on point. Not that basic top 20 ish. I hosted my birthday party at their downstairs bar, which has a totally different cocktail menu. Our guests loved the venue and said the service was top notch. The owners are great!“

“Sleeping Village is a wonderfully funky little music venue in Avondale. The acts tend to be a bit obscure, but you may catch a star in the making. They offer a fine selection of beers and ciders. This is not a restaurant, so I'm not sure why food review would apply.“

“I went to Mother's Ruin with a group of my coworkers, and Keith the bartender took the best care of us. He really made all of our nights special. I have also gone to Mother's Ruin for my birthday and graduation, and each time the service is always spectacular. I can't recommend this place enough! I highly recommend the nachos, and the specialty cocktails they have are all delicious.“

“An absolute gem.I reserved the back lounge room for my birthday and it was the best decision ever! It was easy to communicate via their Instagram, and the room was reserved and ready to go. They even let me bring a cake and hire a caricature artist to come! We played bingo, had delicious cocktails, and admired the decor and items for sale (I now own a rainbow pin striped shirt!). I would HIGHLY highly recommend this place for a birthday, an event, or just to swing by for drinks!My highlight of the night Mark and Jana who smiled the whole night, made us delicious cocktails, and made our group feel at home. “Stopped by after a performance at the Stan Mansion. Very cozy and friendly. Wished they had some beer on draft but they have an extensive list of bottles and cans, many unique or hard to find. Clean men's room too. Patrons were quiet and respectful of everybody. Will go back.“

The menu is simple with each burger having its own personality. Each sandwich can be made into a chicken sandwich or a meatless veggie option as well. Had the curds and Parmesan fries on the side. Every bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. The best part are the taco trucks that arrive outside during the later part of the evening. My brand are tacos @damnthosesteaktacos on IG & TikTok. They don't have food so having them pull up outside is so clutch after having a few Frenchies . Unfortunate I have no pictures because I was too busy having fun! “Havent eaten here so cant comment on food (heard it is good though). If you like to play darts this is a great place to go. They sponsor a number of different teams and have a great back room dedicated to darts and a bi-weekly blind draw on Wednesdays. Everybody is friendly. Recommend checking it out! Good beer specials. “Nice, very tiny place. Good beer. Seating is not the most comfortable, lots of backless bar stools and small tables. Within the location is a business where they press cremated ashes into diamonds. Fine. But then brewery stuff is stored in the dead people processing partitioned space. I don't get it.“

“After visiting the Czech Republic, I was craving authentic Czech goulash (which, in my opinion, is the best goulash in Europe). As someone living in the loop, I was willing to make the trip to the suburbs based on the authentic menu- the food exceeded expectations and was exactly like the goulash I had in Prague.We also had the schnitzel (pork), but was surprised they did not have a veal or beef option.Service was excellent and there is a nice bar with whatever game is on as well. I particularly enjoyed the Coffee Blossom and Oaxacan Forest Wildflower traditional meads but there were a wide variety of flavored meads too, all of which were great. “North Riverside's Catie's is a fairly tranquil gaming establishment. The staff is helpful and pleasant. The staff members and other customers have always made me feel at home. “Met my 3 girl cousins + spouses for the Holidays menu online was intriguing and did not disappoint! Our only mistake was going too early 11:00am. It be way better for dinner. The potato pancakes were hot and crispy. The stuffed cabbage had a tasty mushroom gravy. The goulash soup was piping hot. Hot borsch with dumplings was yummy. Service was good too. We will be back!“

The staff, Claudia (server), Andres and Kristine (host) were so unbelievably kind, attentive and responsive I don't think I have ever experienced that before. Kristine was so helpful and concerned she even offered me a clean towel to help dry him off in the restroom. I haven't even mentioned the food! Everything we ordered was delicious. “I would highly recommend fourteensixteen as it is by far the best restaurant in lagrange. The staff are amazing, the vibes are on point, and the location itself presents itself well. I got the pistachio covered lamb rack when I last went, and it was phenomenal. The dish held up well, the lamb was moist, and the sauces complimented the lamb perfectly. I also had the mango cheesecake, and I can still remember how perfect the cheesecake was. It was a perfect amount of cheesecake flavor to mango flavor. I would highly highly recommend this restaurant as I have yet to see a better one in the surrounding area.“

“Discovered this place while biking to catch the BNSF back to Chicago. Usually would bike past to hop on the train at Western Springs or LaGrange Road. But one day I stopped short and popped in here. Really impressed by the selection of beer, wine, and whiskey. Before the Derby, they had three different bottles of Blanton's Bourbon. I asked for a smell (it's not Jimmy John's, I know) and they obliged me without so much as a blink of the eye. Quite an impressive wine selection. “They only serve lunch only during the weekdays (no dinner and no weekends). However it is the best lunch around! It's like your mom went in the kitchen and made it for you. Soups are made from scratch and they are delicious. The BLT on rye is outstanding. And if they have it, you have to try the potato salad. This is a bar with a Northwoods atmosphere that has affordable prices but there are some tables to sit at. They also have a Friday fish special.“

We were singing, dancing and having a great time until the last band finished up around 11:30. The service is superb. “Great little spot to have a few drinks and see some live music. It's a similar set up to Beat Kitchen; bar in front, venue in the back. However, Burlington has no food - just drinks. I have played here and have seen other bands play here many times. The sound is always good and music is usually done by 11:00. Entertainment is booked by Mpshows. Would return, would recommend.“
