“We were warmly greeted by Chelsea when we arrived. We were seated at a cozy table toward the back of the restaurant. Frank Sinatra music was playing in the background. Our waitress Melissa brought us water to the table with the days specials. There is a good wine & cocktail selection. We started with the shrimp & calamari along with truffle fries for an appetizer. The shrimp & calamari were cooked perfectly while seasoned with the right amount of oil and garlic. The truffle fries garlic aoli sauce was very good, not overpowering. For dinner, we had chicken parmesan served with penne pasta as the side. The portion size was big. The chicken was cooked well, not overloaded with sauce and the right amount of cheese. The other dish order was the risotto of the day, shrimp & grape tomato. Highly recommend the risotto. It was cooked perfectly with big delicious shrimp mixed in with the risotto. As delicious as it was, room was being saved for dessert. Not many restaurants serve flourless chocolate cake, but Frankie's 1988 does. It is served with a carmel sauce, pecans, and vanilla gelato. I have had many flourless chocolate cakes in my life, and none compare to the one made at Frankie's. It is dense, almost like dark chocolate fudge that just melts in your mouth. They also have canolis, tirimisu, and an assortment of gelato. The staff was so nice, checking on us throughout our dinner, ensuring we were never out of water. Frankie introduced himself to us as we were leaving. We had to tell him how amazing the risotto was today. Frankie said that their kitchen is a scratch kitchen and will gladly make items not on the menu if the kitchen has the ingredients. Frankie's 1988 is a 5 Star restaurant nestled in a strip mall in Tinley Park.Dietary restrictions: Many gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.“

“Such a great seafood place, south suburbs, small strip center. I'd heard it was good, today is my first visit and oh boy is this place good the best place for seafood in the whole Chicago area. Yelp showed then add number 51 in the country . Today I had the Lobster Roll, warm. I also tried the fish and chips, both absolutely excellent about the best I've had. This lobster roll is on par with my all time favorite place, Burgundy Square Cafe in Venice, Fl. “This was my Second time visiting this restaurant, and I brought my guy in to try their food. Ms. Darcy waited on us, and she was warm, and inviting as we walked in. We didn’t even have to get up when our food was ready, Ms. Darcy brought it to us!! He had a catfish dinner, and he thoroughly enjoyed it! I had the chicken wing dinner and it was a hit as well!! We tried the jerk egg rolls as well once we got home and they were good…not spicy enough for my taste though. The atmosphere here was a bit “smoky” I’m sure from the grills but the smoke consumed the dining room atmosphere. Overall, we were pleased with the food and may come back to pick up take out!“

I got a pound of Alaskan King crab legs, and while they didn’t come with crab crackers, we only had a little trouble breaking the meat out. Phenomenal crab legs. They came with perfectly seasoned red potatoes and corn on the cob. My partner ordered (fried) shrimp tacos and could not stop raving about them. The shrimp was very fresh. We also ordered fresh cut fries and they were outstanding, though they could use a bit more seasoning. But extra seasoning was brought upon request. The owner, Shawn, brought out the food, was attentive to our needs, and even struck up a friendly conversation as we left. “We went here for a birthday celebration, with eight people. There weren't many people in (we went early) and our waiter was wonderful, giving suggestions when asked. They bring warm bread to start, with olive oil and parm on the table. The olive oil isn't seasoned, for those who like that. Bread is delicious. We had appetizers of caprese salad, vesuvio fries and bruschetta. Portions were pretty good. Bruschetta is excellent, great flavor and large tomato and cheese topping. Caprese was also good. The fries were not, coated in some kind of gravy/oil and very salty. Our entrees ranged from the vodka rigatoni (both GF and regular), seafood paella, gnocchi (outstanding), salad and clams. Everything was great, although the Caesar salad comes dressed with a LOT of dressing. They bring out a dessert tray for you to choose and have several choices. Almost everyone got the limoncello dessert and loved it. This might be the best I've ever had. We also had the death by chocolate and the carrot cake, which were also great.Vegetarian options: There are a lot of vegetarian choices and they are good about taking meat out of a dish when possible.Dietary restrictions: They offer to switch pasta dishes for gluten free pasta for a $3 upcharge. The main dishes are always freshly cooked but the sides specifically the fries have been cold and tastes like the food has been sitting out for hours. The cooks need to improve on this.
