“Stopped by here yesterday to get myself a butter burger and was annoyed to find out I was charged $0.40 for condiments. Sorry but what? When did I have to start paying for my ketchup for my fries? “We were on our way to Downtown Chesterton for some antique shopping and decided to give Gastro 49 a try for lunch. It is pretty typical bar tyoe fare, burgers and such. The burger was generous and wdll seasoned. The pulled pork was good as well. Service was friendly.“
“It was our first time visiting here, while traveling through Indiana. And it was quite enjoyable. Milkshakes are 2 bucks on Mondays and who could pass that deal up? I had the chocolate peanut butter and it was so good. My husband had the mint chip which he really enjoyed as well. The burgers are big and the fries are delicious! Also, the Irish nachos are my fave! Hospitality was on point! Such lovely people working there. And it's a fun, 60's type atmosphere. Try it! You won't be disappointed.“
“Very good food, but what made our visit so special was Michael. He is so helpful and happy. His happiness is so contagious. We had just come in on a redeye flight. We were all (6 of us), tired and weary of traveling. His infectious happiness really lifted us up. He is a real asset to your store. I see why he has been chosen as employee of the month before. He was MORE than happy to get us anything we needed. eg. To go containers, forks, tarter sauce, napkins and so on. Kudos to management for giving this friendly guy the opportunity to shine. “This small place off calumet, or old 49, depending on how you remember Valpo, is a gem. It’s really small, so make reservations. The size also means it gets a little loud when it fills up, which it will. The menu is limited, changes weekly, and is delicious. I had a tasty salad and my wife kicked off with a soup she really liked (I can’t remember what she had). Then the main course came. I should point out that they have a butcher shop where you can Wagyu steak by the ounce, but it was $24 an ounce. Unless I could actually speak to the Wagyu cow and discuss Japanese Bovine American relations, it was just too steep for that evening. I did get the non-Wagyu filet, and it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were good too. My bride got the Mahi Mahi, not usually a fish person, and she loved it. We will be going back. I should mention that the service was great. There is Joi Di Vie amongst the staff and it makes The Bait Shop a fun place to go.“

“Marina Shores has really stepped up their game and it shows ESPECIALLY in the food!! The hubby and I LOVE their specialty sushi by Chef AJ - above is their weekly special "HOLY CRAB roll" and the other (our absolute favorite) is the Dragon Roll. I haven't been able to try Chef Angela's food yet but my husband and his family ate at Chef Angela's prior restaurant and RAVED about her cooking! I look forward to trying her dishes!!!Overall, its just a great spot to enjoy yourself and indulge in a fun, sophisticated environment. Great people always around and the staff is always great! It's exactly how I remember as a kid, food wise that is... the atmosphere used to be more 50s nostalgia with juke boxes vending in each booth! Regarding the food, we all ordered your typical round of burgers and shared a side of Irish nachos, which are loaded cheese fries, topped with your choice we have bacon and green onion and smother it under ranch.I drink a cherry coke, that they put a cherry syrup in. Grandma got a green river, that reminds me of a lime ice popsicle in the plastic sleeve...“
“As far as Schoop's goes, this is one of the best locations I've visited. Seemed much cleaner than some of there other locations. The burgers were good as always, and our shakes and malts were even better. They were busy so our initial waitress said she'd be right over. She was running around so another waitress offered to help us, she was very nice and friendly. Would definitely visit this location again!“

“Just got out of the hospital and didn't feel like cooking. My husband decided that we would give Taphouse a try. Boy am I glad we decided to try this little gem. The service was fast, friendly, and the food was phenomenal!!!We had the prime rib dinner that came with a salad and baked potato. Everything was just awesome! I got there to pick up an order, and before I even walked in, my car door swung back and hit me in my face so I walked in the door with a huge cut. “We went for Valentine's Day. We do go at other times as well. My husband and I love the food. Items we enjoy are regular sliders, the fish sliders, when they have them the sloppy joe sliders, fish nibblers, their fries, mozzarella sticks and when they have the shrimp nibblers and clam strips. I am not a fan of their desserts especially since they switched from the chocolate covered cheesecake to the strawberry swirl cheesecake. The strawberry to me is not as good as the chocolate covered was. They do have decent shakes, however me personally would love them to be thicker. Lastly I think they are faster service wise if you order through the app or in store. The drive thru is too slow for my preference. But, I believe most people would enjoy a visit. Good deals and depending on what you order you can easily feed a family of 4.“

On 7/5 I went to get some Ice cream in the middle of heavy rain and doing so my truck was getting soaked. The lady at the window was really nice and handed me some napkins without even asking to wipe the water from my truck. I’ve been a lot of places all over the country in my life and not once have I been given something to keep my vehicle dry in the rain. “Great location with great service & sales specials. This location has been offering the same special for months which is awesome! They offer 3 mystery items for $5!! I ALWAYS get good mystery items such as a blizzard, sundae & s shake! It's all frozen but so what? Just sit it out to defrost and/or put in microwave for 11 seconds on high. It softens it all up just enough!! Friendly service too!“
“Try the ribs! This is a great place to stop when you're looking for something good without being too fancy. My personal favorites have to be the ribs, followed by the steak tacos as a very close second. On my last trip through, there was about a ten minute wait for the ribs but they were tender, moist, delicious, and were given to me hot enough that they were still hot when I got them home.The tacos are also a surprising highlight, and the burgers are worth trying as well, being a better option than McDonald's. I'll be perfectly honest with you here, the menu has its highs and lows, but this is like many other restaurants. They have Gyros on the menu but I thought it was somewhat lacking and I wouldn't recommend it.For dessert I highly recommend the rice pudding flavor popsicles they have, though they frequently sell out of them, they are absolutely delicious.“

The only down side is they don’t have deep fryers so they have a limited menu but I love stopping by in the summer for ice cream. They have a few picnic tables to sit on outside and it’s a really nice area.“
