“As unbelievable as this may sound, not a single state has an official sandwich. And after eating the unofficial state sandwich of Indiana I think I know why. First things first though, according my extensive internet research, the official unofficial state sandwich of Indiana is the Pork Tenderloin. And if you are only going to eat one, which was the plan, then it should be eaten at the Aristocrat Pub & Restaurant. It comes on a bun (mine was oddly from Toronto) that covers a maximum of 33% of the loin, with lettuce, tomato, and three dill pickle coins and a loin eater's choice of ketchup, mayo and/or mustard (I chose mayo). For some it might be advisable to share. Washed down by a draft Ayinger Lager: Excellent!!! So good in fact I'm thinking I'll share another with Mrs. AAR if the opportunity arises. Oh, yeah, the reason why this great country lacks even one official state sandwich¹ may be the same reason this country can't provide adequate health care . . . politics. In Indiana's case House Bill 1143 has languished since 2023 possibly due to pushback from the Polish sausage and fried brain sandwich lobby. ¹ According to Wikipedia the "Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese," is the only official state sandwich. It was made "official" by the New Jersey governor on May 25, 2023, though this might just be due to the Taylor Swift's impending visiting to MetLife Stadium. Either way it has not been been approved by the state legislature.“

I did notice that the noise level was up making it hard to talk in a normal manner.Sometimes this is just the way it goes. Definitely worth a visit. I will give them a second chance.“

“Connor's is a cultural experience and a rite of passage for Broad Ripple Village patrons! Really cold beer, not to mention PBR on tap, and quick, refreshing drinks, the back alley location and back open air deck have seen many of luminaries come and go! (Rumor is that a young Rookie Colts Punter from West Virginia might have been over-served here before his famous Canal dive! But I wasn't there, at least That time!). Typical bar food is surprisingly good and served late, so it serves well to offset excess alcohol consumed early in the evening. Many a brain cell has been willing pruned at Connor's. Probably as authentic a BRV legacy as the Alley Cat! Definitely incredible people watching as typical nights wear out to early morning! Special call out for holiday break home trips and college visits back home!“

With only $3.50 apiece beers! Can't beat that, not at all. I had fish & chips, 2 beers, & even w/ Indianapolis's 9% restaurant sales tax & tip, I only spent $20 total, & I was full!! Barton's Pub Bar & Grill • $
7930 S Emerson Ave, Indianapolis

“I was visiting a friend at St. Francis hospital and drove by Barton's with a "Now Open" sign. I hadn't had lunch, so I pulled in to check out a new pub.The bar felt like a fun neighborhood bar with everyone knowing each other. Today at lunch, the crowd was mostly older, 55+, with younger patrons entering ( around 2:00 p.m.) as we dined. As you enter, you walk directly in front of the bar. A half-wall separates the bar from the 2 - and 4-top tables plus high-tops. The game area is in the back of the bar with pool tables, dart boards, and a jukebox with all tall-top tables or standing bar ledges in the back. The menu offers the standard pub options with a nice selection of appetizers, burgers, tenderloins, sandwiches, salads, and dinner options. Today's lunch special was a chicken fettuccine ($10.99) or shrimp Fettuccine ($1 upcharge for shrimp) served with garlic toast. The Shrimp and Broccoli Fettuccine was a large serving and very tasty, but I had to take most of it home. The bartender/server could not have been nicer, super efficient, and made me feel very welcome. She covered the entire restaurant and didn't miss a beat.I definitely would stop back in when I'm in the area. It's fun to be in a neighborhood bar where friends hang out together.“

“We had a good time out at Robbys Pub last night. Live music started around 8pm. Great band. 1 pool table and several dart machines. we waited our turn and shot some pool. Bartender on side with pool table was not friendly, she passed us up several times as we were trying to get her attention to order drinks. It would have been okay had she not did it everytime, she avoids making eye contact so she can pretend she didn't see or hear you saying ma'am, and then threw our beers away while we were playing pool right in front of her. We will give it another chance, maybe she was just having a bad day! Never know what's going on in people's lives, but when serving public a smile would go a loooonnngg way, we did not order food this trip and they do have food specials that look really good and great prices.“
