“First time trying this place and it didn’t disappoint. Our server was spectacular (he was also the bartender). Food was good and came out quick. Moderately priced menu with plenty options to choose from. It’s a small, quaint restaurant and the atmosphere is family oriented. Me and family will most definitely return.“
“Love this place! The food is consistently delicious. Kind of a fast casual style, you order at the counter and pick a table. If it's very busy there might be some pressure from staff to leave your table quickly after you eat, which I don't love, but understand. But you can linger if you sit at the bar, and they have great cocktails!“
“Two of us got the following items: Steamed Dragon Dumplings,Stuffed Peppers , Crabmeat Udon Noodles. All the food items were delicious and the service was very good. We sat at the bar and the place was busy on Saturday as was expected. I ordered shrimp fried rice to go and I found it not to be so flavorful. I added some soy sauce and sesame seed oil to it and it kicked it up to a tastier stage. This is one of the few places that puts bean sprout in their fried rice which was a normal staple years ago among many Chinese restaurants. At the Royal China restaurant where Miss Shirley originally had her place, the fried rice was tastier. I want to mention that when we were seated we were given 2 complimentary pork dumplings and upon our concluding our meal given complimentary beignets. Thanks for the good food and service Miss Shirley.“
“Visiting the quarter and wanted some Chinese, so this was one of the first spots we kept seeing show up online. The best two items were: The crab/crawfish dumplings, fantastic. And, the sautéed green beans. They are crisp and hot, but still tender inside. A bit too much sauce for me, though.Runner ups: The steamed pork buns. Stuffed with a good amount of meat inside, they were super fresh and soft. The basil popcorn chicken. So crispety and crunchy, and served piping hot. Egg rolls were different than traditional ones. Not as much of a cronch on them, but still good. The char siu pork was sadly probably my least favorite item. It needs more char, and less of whatever sauce they're using, they need more of that traditional red sauce (see photos).Service is super friendly, fast, and attentive.“

“I grew up in NYC loving the food in Chinatown, so when a local friend suggested we have lunch at Hong Minh in nearby Harvey, I thought "oh no, suburban Chinese food... blah." I quickly shed my preconceptions once food started arriving at our barebones table in a plain-Jane dining room in this nondescript strip mall. Dang! This is easily up there with the best Chinese food you'll find anywhere in the country. Highlights include BBQ pork, roasted duck, salt & pepper string beans and Singapore mei fun. I asked one of the owners who was taking a break from hacking up roast ducks what part of China they were from and he said "Hong Kong and Taiwan, NOT China." Take that, China and preconceptions!“
“One of my favorite spots on the westbank! Amazing food, excellent customer service, friendly staff and very good prices. I’ve been coming here since they’ve opened and my whole family has been ordering take out from here almost weekly for the last year. As long as the prices and the food are great then I think JAF will be around for a while!!“
“My favorite Pho Bang location in New Orleans. I usually go with the brisket pho (rice noodle soup) but their rice plates are good as well. The com bi suon (porkchop rice plate) and com bo luc lac (shaken beef rice plate) are usually good. However, at today's visit, the com bo luc lac was a miss as it lacked flavor. There are days where it's a miss but there's more so good days than bad.Typical Vietnamese restaurant service. Pho restaurants are usually a quick, eat and go situation. So don't expect to get checked on often. They're quick to come when flagged down, though, as everyone seemed to work together.“
“Strip mall food at its finest! It's a medium sized Vietnamese restaurant that has exceptional food and does a brisk business. Service is efficient. The ambiance is not fancy. But, the food - the food! The crab Rangoon has crab and comes with a delicious mild chili sauce, which is far superior to the sweet and sour sauce most places provide. The big highlight is the grilled shrimp summer rolls. They are filled with fresh cucumber, carrot, vermicelli, and fresh grilled shrimp with a perfectly balanced bit of fresh mint. It comes with a lightly spicy peanut sauce. Might want to ask for extra peanut sauce.“
“Mr. Doson was so wonderful today. I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t have it in me to cook today. It was a supremely rainy day and many places weren’t open. It seemed he was the only staff member today due to the weather. My children love Doson’s. They cheered when the bag was brought into our home. I will definitely be a repeat customer. I’m a fan.“
“After reading about Tan Dinh in the New York Times of all places. It was an article about the hidden gems of New Orleans. I knew that we had to give it a try. So, we headed to Gretna on the Westbank to dine Vietnamese style. Upon arriving, I could tell it was going to be good, there were all the signs of a good Vietnamese restaurant. The pungent smell of fish sauce, long row a table’s pushed together with a large family dining. Good enough for the whole family. As I watched the kids at the big table play air drums with their chop sticks, I looked over the menu items. The menu is vast, but I found it was translated well. We started off with some Shrimp Spring Rolls and Chicken Wings with a sweet chili sauce covering them. Both were exceptional and I probably could have taken a couple dozen of those wings home with me. That would have been a meal to itself. But we were here to try more than just the wings. I ordered a Bun Bowl of shrimp and pork with vegetables and vermicelli noodles. Charla ordered the short ribs. Both were very large and easily shareable between a few people. The food was delicious, and portions were large. If you have never tried Vietnamese food this would be the place to go. The menu is well done in English and Vietnamese and the waitress was very knowledgeable. So come hungry because you get a lot of food. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.“
