“I have something to say about our stay at Lamar Dixon during the flood. I have heard people talking crap about the way they were treated, not being fed, and other hateful, vicious LIES. I, personally, had only one complaint and that was the army cots. The only reason my complaint is about that is due to my back injuries from numerous rear-end collisions, so a cot with a metal rod jabbing you in the back was not comfortable. Other than that, under the circumstances, our stay for a week-and-a-half was incredible. I met some amazing people, made new family, and new friends. The volunteers, the Red Cross, our military, our sheriff deputies, everyday civilians, people from out of state, local restaurants (too many to remember them all), Ninja Snowballs (came 2 days in a row and GAVE away free snowballs for 5+ hours each day), doctors, nurses, and pharmacists 24/7 for medical needs and emergencies. Vern's BBQ and Catering was there the entire time feeding us lunch and supper, on top of all the other companies who came and cooked for us. We had anywhere from 6 to 8 meals a day available to us plus snacks in between. So, if you are one of the people complaining about not being fed, you should be ashamed of yourselves for lying. If you didn't eat, it's not because there wasn't any food, it's because you were either 1) Too lazy to go stand in line to get it or 2) Too picky about what was being served. If you went hungry even one day there, it's your own fault. There was enough food there for us plus another shelter. People with pets had a place for their 4-legged family members and they were well taken care of. Tia Torres from "Pit Bulls and Parolees" came by with a hotel connection offering pet owners and their pets a place to go. Mr. Chad Blouin from LSU Sports came practically every day to check on everyone. He brought rechargeable chargers, Bibles, and even took peoples' clothes to wash and dry. All of these people gave their time, their own money, and some even more. From the first day we were there, the bathrooms were practically spotless, even though A to Z Janitorial was down about 3/4 of their staff due to them being flooded themselves. So, if you were hungry, bored, miserable, or anything else negative, it's probably no one's fault but your own. I have a whole new group of family and friends. You and you alone missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime, where you could've taken a bad situation and turned it into a positive, inspirational, learning experience, but instead some chose to complain about anything and everything. As my dad (R.I.P.) used to say, "You'd complain if they hung you with a new rope". A big thank you to Lamar Dixon, Mr. Don Hysell, Mr. Martin McConnell, Mr. Kyle Rogers, Ms. Vickie, Mr. Bernie Capone, Navy Veteran and Red Cross volunteer Norman Soren, all Red Cross volunteers, all civilian volunteers, all our Military men and women, deputies and officers, first responders, Mr. Kevin Johnson and crew from A to Z Janitorial, Mr. Vern, Ms. Debbie, and crew from Vern's BBQ and catering, Ninja Snowballs, all other restaurants, catering companies, and individuals who provided food and donations, and the Cajun Navy without whom many of us would not be here. There are many more whose names I never knew and if I forgot anyone or left anyone out, please forgive me. Much love and thanks to you all for a job well done under such trying and demanding circumstances. God bless you all.”

“My son and I were in town to attend a wedding. We stopped in for dinner Friday night and grabbed a large po' boy and a salad to share. The food and friendly service were so great we had to stop in Saturday for lunch before the wedding! We live in San Antonio, Tx, but will definitely be back when we pass through New Iberia to visit family! That bread pudding looked good and the serving is large! “This is probably one of the few daiquiri stands that you can walk up and order here in town. Most of the others are strictly drive through only. There's a wide variety of the drinks and their ways adding new drinks. About a year back they starting selling 2 girls and cheesecake. I just have to say omg! It's delicious. The staff is friendly.”

“Road stop dining that can't be missed on the way to New Iberia. The gentleman who served up the food and was servicing the window was quick and cooks up a mean barbecue. Huge portion. The turkey necks were peeling off the bone and glistening in a fantastic, sweet and just barely spicy, brown sauce that was also drizzled over a bed of rice; the dinner roll on the side was perfectly soft, easy to peel and share; the sausage pea soup was so good, there were tears coming down my travel pals face (?️), this being the same person who initially figured that she wasn't hungry until I opened up the dinner plate. More please!”

This place is the place to be if you enjoy good music and down home people! The owner a welcomed me with open arms as if I've been coming here for years. Great environment, very cozy. “This place has some amazing food! The prices are really good and the quality is a lot better than most Mexican restaurants. For the most part, the service is excellent. We have had one or two times that the service was lacking, but the food outweighs those few times.”

“Beautiful day to sit by the bayou and enjoy some good Cajun food. I tried the seafood platter to try a little everything... Shrimp, frog leg, fried oyster and catfish. Shrimp was excellent and the rest was good. My wife enjoyed her Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. We went for an early dinner (4:30pm) and Nora was working alone till night crew arrived. Despite being very busy she did a marvelous job juggling between bartending, taking and delivering orders and bussing tables.”

“I have been going to Snowball Factory almost every day religiously for a week. (My Gym hates it but) Their snowballs are TOP TEIR. I have tried every snowball place in New Iberia but Snowball Factory takes #1 by FAR. 20/10 would absolutely recommend. Staff is amazing, always smiling and just handling business. All these other negative comments are probably people who were rude to the staff first. I highly recommend!!!”

“If you are looking for a sweet, delightful treat, I would like to nominate Kim’s “Honey Apples”! I have been to Kim’s 3 days in a row this week, including yesterday! I’m not sure how Kim’s does it, but I pray that they don’t ever stop doing it! Kim’s “Honey Apples” are one of the best things that has ever happened to my mind, body, soul and mouth, all at the time! I have been eating Kim’s “Honey Apples” since I was a little girl and since they were in their 1st location that was just a little further down from where they are located now! I’m 37 years old now! Even after living in Houston, Texas from 2008-2022, there is nothing that compares to Kim’s “Honey Apples”! The “Honey Apples” are served hot, sweet and crunchy on the outside and has a fresh, I do believe green apple slice on the inside! I’m not sure how Kim’s does it but they could be Fried “Honey Apples”! One order of Hot “Honey Apples” comes with 8 apples slices for under $5.00! I still can not believe that a restaurant can make apples taste so heavenly, for such an outstanding value! Thank you Kim’s Chinese Restaurant! I give your “Honey Apples” 15 out of 10 stars! Oh, don’t take my word for it, go try Kim’s Fried, Hot, “Honey Apples” or Hot, Fried, “Honey Apples” out for yourself! You’re welcome!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟”

“This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat out at. The staff is very nice. Their constantly checking in on you to see if you need anything. The buffet has a wide variety of options to choose from. They do get crawfiah when its in season. One of the downsides is the buffet had been the same food options for the pass several years. It could use a change up.”

“This is a family diner type of place that offers your regular “home cooking” meals, delicious burgers & also local favorites, such as corn shrimp chowder, which is my personal favorite. Shrimp poboy, onion rings, shrimp baskets… everything is really good. Service however is spotty. Our orders were missing fries and onion rings. I saw one of the cooks eating while handling people’s meals. On the positive note, staff were polite and laid back, even though not very efficient. There are not too many sit down places in the area that offer local flavors and despite the issues, we think this is the best sit down restaurant in the area.”

“This location is my local store and favorite. The employees are always polite and courteous. The customer service is great. As a whole the staff is great. I was a very frequent customer here and Ms. Caitlyn and Mr. Jay as well as a few others even go as far as to ask how my day is and make my experience even that much more pleasurable. The food is always hot and delicious. They are quick and convenient and always make sure to give me plenty of bbq sauce 🥰 On the very rare occasion something isn’t right with my order they are always more than happy to fix it. I genuinely give this restaurant a 10/10 anyway! ☺️”

“Ate some lunch here with some co-workers. Service was good and friendly throughout the entire visit. The chips and salsa are always my first impression of a Mexican restaurant and they were not bad at all. Got lunch fajitas which were I would say above average and flavor was good. All in all a solid Mexican restaurant.”
