“Stopped for lunch on our way home from New Orleans to Dallas, and this will be our permanent stop now --> the food was so good, great value, and really nice people! Take out only, so we took it for a picnic in our car. The lot's a bit rough with a closed gas station and hotel as neighbors, but it felt kinda like the neighborhood I grew up in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯We tried one of everything. Get me 2 boudin rolls w pepperjack every day for the rest of my life (easy on the seasoned salt topping, personally.) The burger was great but a bit messy. The chicken wings were great but you could just get the boudin. Bring a cooler to take links home with you, cuz you'll be dreaming about them for days.Vegetarian options: Nothing is vegetarian except the fries *maybe“

“The food was amazing! I highly recommend the meatball stew and all of their meals of the day. The service was impeccable, just what you'd expect in South Louisiana, service with love and full attention. The atmosphere, well let's just say I felt like I was taken back to family gatherings at my grandparents home, sitting around tables, enjoying conversation and fellowship with all the folks in there!“

“We were traveling through and stopped in. OMG! The food was SO DELICIOUS! This is my very first time having a boudin, they had several different varieties. We had the jalapeno pepper cream cheese stuffed fried boudin. 5 stars. The BBQ sauce on the pork sausage po boy was outstanding and all the staff was so patient with me ordering and asking questions.“

Back In Time Sandwich Shop • $
123 W Landry St, Opelousas

“I'd always meant to stop at the little local place on the square, near the Bowie Oak. I'm so glad I finally did. It's tiny and charming, and has the most friendly and helpful owner, Ms. Wanda! Back in Time sort of combines an antique and collectible shop with a cafe! It's cozy and easy to like. It's a great place to stop at if you are passing through as it's right on US Highway 190 West right on the south side of the courthouse square. The menu is something to explore. It has a wide variety of soups, salads, and wraps all of which have interesting names. Some are named after local historic figures, others have names associated with famous persons or movie stars. All of them are tasty and vary from the light to the fully filling. The salad offerings also go from the small to the whole meal variety. This is one of those great little home town places that one just has to experience to understand. You'll find yourself stopping there next time you pass through.“

“They were so generous with delicious fresh crawfish. The seasoning was excellent. We took a big bag to go and sat at the park, enjoying a beautiful day with fresh crawfish, corn and potatoes. They even gave me some extra local spice to take back home. Thanks for a delightful lunch stop!“
