“I recently received a gift card to this restaurant so this past weekend I decided to take my mother for dinner there. It is a nice restaurant, good sized, and you may sit either in the dining room or at the bar. The menu has something for everybody on it with steaks, sandwiches, seafood and salads available. I had the steak tips. They were delicious and cooked exactly the way that I specified. On the menu it says they are served with fries but my server let me switch out the fries for mashed potatoes instead. I also had the coleslaw that they serve with the steak tips. It is made with kale and is very delicious. My mother had a sandwich and she enjoyed it as well. The atmosphere here is very nice and if you are lucky and can get a table near the windows you will get a great view of the beautiful Boston skyline. From the service to the food to the beverages we really enjoyed our dinners.“

“I'll admit it -- we are those people. The ones who weren't going to go out on Valentine's Day until we decided we were. And it turns out we weren't the only ones. The place is frequented by regulars for sure with a bar on one side and a slightly more formal sit down dining room on the other. When we arrived we waited for about 10 minutes and were seated at a high top near the bar area. During this time another couple got frustrated with the single waitress to be seen after she dropped off some food to them. This couple was not empathetic at all and then expressed that to the waitress in a condescending tone on what was probably one of the busiest nights there. The same woman was our waitress and it was clear she was running around from dining room to bar room without a single moment to catch her breath. She did great! Obviously the kitchen was swamped too but we knew to adjust our expectations accordingly for timing. Food was delicious, incredible value. Calamari was a generous portion and could definitely be a small family appetizer on its own. My husband commented that you will not find a steak for less than $35 in the area and I think this one was $25 or so? Truffle fries were excellent. I got the bolognese and it was comforting and a big portion. We'll definitely come back on a less busy night but overall it was a good experience!“

“My fiancé and I moved to Weymouth a few months ago and one of the first places we went to eat was Johnny Kono's. At first, we were thrown off by how few tables there were, but once we settled in and the food started coming, it has become one of our favorite places to eat. The El Chapo wings are some of the best we've ever had, great spice and flavor with a some acidity to tie it all together. The burgers are incredible, even the Louis lunch burger, which although very simple, always is delicious. They really live up to their claim of being a "Five Star Dive Bar." “Who knew the best matcha was actually from a local gem above a market in the South Shore? I'm so sad I didn't discover this place until now, close to when it will bid its farewell, but I am happy that I was able to try a few items. The strawberry matcha latte ($5.75) is a seasonal drink inspired by a cafe in Providence, RI, which I have been meaning to try, so I was very excited to get it. The drink was smooth and not sugary (as is preferred), and the strawberry was fresh. I also tried the banana bread ($3.50), which was surprisingly my first time in general. It was very moist and sweet (hopefully only from the bananas and no added sugar), with a slightly crunchy, almost nutty/salty crust.The place was pretty lively on a weekday morning, but the line and preparation of orders were quick. I feel like the items could be a tad cheaper (also, for some reason it is cheaper to order online?), but, nevertheless, I would return (and might have even been a regular had I known about this place sooner).If any of the staff reads this review, any chance the bread pudding or lobster Benedict could make a comeback before the final day? I got it with a side of zucchini and summer squash - which were cooked perfectly; neither mushy nor undercooked - and melt-in-your-mouth buttery mashed potatoes. When the bill came, we couldn't believe how low the total was. Incredible value, for sure. All of this and terrific service, to boot! Margie was such a great server - she took excellent care of us. “We finally returned to The Snug since before COVID restrictions. We loved the Irish music and oldies bands. We arrived before the music this evening and were lucky to be seated immediately. It is usually crowded and noisy. Our server was personable and got our drinks and food quickly. The Snug is, as the name suggests, a snug Irish pub filled with Irish memorabilia. The Smithwicks had a plump foamy head and is lighter than Guinness. My SO's sangria had a hint of peach schnapps flavor. The Greek salad was more than enough for two. The fried haddock sandwich was so big I thought it was the fish dinner. The fish was flaky with a crunchy exterior and the roll was soft and delicious. I had it served with vegetables; the carrots and green beans were tasty but the broccoli was cold. The appetizing chicken salad sandwich was a bit different; shredded chicken and craisins were on a hot dog bun and the mayo was on the side. We will return to The Snug soon to enjoy the music, food and drinks.“
