Had a quick drink at the bar and was lead up stairs to a nice corner table. Our server upstairs was prompt and friendly. Always on top of our drinks orders. We had the meatballs and mussels to start and they were delicious. For entrees we had the shrimp and scallops risotto and the scallops over parpadelle. I felt the scallops over parpadelle was a little underseasoned but it was still very fresh tasting and well cooked. I took it home added some parm cheese and loved it as a midnight snack! My only complaint would be Opentable said it had free valet parking and we drove around looking for it and couldn't find it. We found a spot nearby and forgot to ask about it while we were there. If they did have it, it wasnt obvious. If they didnt, they should correct open table. We will definitely go back!”

I needed to organize a nice dinner for 15 people for my son's birthday. The whole process was absolutely flawless - from initial contact with Igor who took care of all the planning and setup. When we arrived to the restaurant everything was ready and we were treated with utmost attention. The dinner was served family style and we had a chance to pick our menu selections to be shared. The portions were very generous, beautifully decorated and served, service was impeccable. The food was absolutely amazing! Everyone was beyond satisfied and happy. “We recently stayed in Newton for a mini vacation from Canada (visiting Boston). Every night of our stay we ate at this restaurant. I know, not overly adventurous but when the food is this good and the atmosphere is right, why bother looking? You won’t find better! We tried: - Pan seared chicken: AMAZING. - Fish and chips: when you live on the east coast it’s hard to get good fish and chips but these hit the mark! - Filet Mignon: Full of flavour and tender. - Steak Tips: Again, tender and full of flavour. - Risotto: Wonderfully strong mushroom flavour but yet offset with a field of flavours. - Scallops: Seared to perfection. - Short-rib Meatballs: Meat and cheese combo to die for. - Calamari: Another difficult one to get right and find fresh! This was one of my favourite with the dip and hot peppers. - Sirloin: Cooked to perfection, flavour was a hit and a good portion size, well worth the money. THE HOUSE SALAD: All I can say, EMAIL ME THE RECIPE FOR THE DRESSING!! This was the best item for me on the menu. Fresh, simple and full of flavour. I got it with every meal. So to recap: 10/10”

“Great food and service. Bierra tacos were great- we drank the au-jus straight as it had nice cinnamon overtones. Guacamole was perfect with the chips light and fluffy. The 3 tacos- were the traditional small one: the pastor had small amounts of pineapple - very traditional; steak (carne asada) was cooked perfectly as little strips and the carnitas has tons of flavor. The trea-leche was a hit with it's nice flavora. The margherita was flavorful and well balanced. The service was amazing- they gave us special hot sauce, not on the menu, when we asked for habanero sauce (they didn't have). Will go again- need to taste everything on the menu!”

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at Pressed is lively, upbeat, clean, comfortable and modern. There is a lot of seating (counters and tables) inside and a lovely outdoor area for the good weather.

Location:
The location is great because it's on a main street with everything from clothing, to sporting goods, home design, food markets and more. You could spend a whole day in this neighborhood.

Pro-tip: It's a great menu, so I recommend taking your time to see all they have to offer - including their ready-made food and beverages. I also recommend ordering a few different plates, baked goods, etc., so you can get a real feel for it.

Overall Impression:
I've been to almost every restaurant around Newton, and I believe Pressed Cafe is the best all-around casual dining in Newton for food, atmosphere and service.”

“We got our wedding cutting cake here and it was absolutely amazing! We had many kosher guests who loved the cake, plus it was dairy and nut free for our many guests who had dietary restrictions. The wedding cake tasting was super fun, they set up a little bistro table in the store for us and had many options to try. Karen could not have been nicer during the whole process and they were very accommodating of allergies. Would highly recommend!”

The staff are really friendly and make the food quite quickly, reminds me of the service we used to get in the past.

The food was of good quality and how I remember it. It does tend to be on the expensive side for these meals, but was still pretty good and tasted well. The sushi was fresh, with good rice to fish ratio and presented well. The udon had a good broth that went well with the noodles, and had some toppings and sides that were crisp and tasty.”

When I was told how many, I was flabbergasted. They were so generous and very easy to work with. The day of my event a friend of mine picked up the personal cakes, and we gave them out to the tennis players. I some how got 4 of them. They were delicious!
