“Service is improving, bathrooms are cleaner (still not using it other than to wash my hands) impressed with how people have been following CDC guidelines during the Covid-19 pandemic. The food is consistently excellent, great Central American food. Service still a little slow but it's part of the experience I guess lol their churrasco is great, awesome grilled smoky flavor.“

“Good and tasty Salvadoran food, majority of food is ready on a steam table for quick service. There is so much good food that you'll be undecided on what you want to eat. I like that it gives you the feeling of being in El Salvador being served by women who are cooking their hearts out. Thank you for the Latin soul food.“

“Food is good steak nay be seasoned with cumin. Papusas are better than most places I try I wasn't disappointed. Now the sauce us a big thing for me most places water it down, however here the sauce is real good. The cabbage has jalapeño so it add flavor nice touch in my opinion. Rice is OK. The Vegetables were cooked how I like. Definitely worth a try.“

“Came on a Friday night for a quick dinner. The restaurant didn't look like much from the outside but inside it was popping and pretty spacious with two dining rooms. The ambiance is your neighborhood mom-and-pop shop, no fancy decor, very down to earth, but everything felt well-maintained and clean. The restaurant was quite busy but the servers were very attentive and came to take our order as soon as we sat down. We had horchata ($4) and tamarindo ($3.5) for drinks. Both were very good and reasonably priced. The complementary salsa was amazing, with amazing flavor and a great kick. We shared El Tipico and Lomo Saltado as our mains. The portions were generous for two hungry people. Their combo platters are great for people looking to try a bit of everything. My favorite from El Tipico platter was the Pupusas Revueltas, so cheesy and paired well with the slaw. The tamale and enchilada were delicious and generously filled. The chicken filling was slightly dry so will try a different option next time. The Lomo Saltado was also great. It came with crunchy fries, well-marinated meat, and a flavorful, gingery sauce. The food took a bit long to come out (~40 mins), which is completely understandable for a mom-and-pop restaurant. My friend and I were running for a show afterward so had to rush our meal. Would recommend budgeting some extra time:)“

“Have been in and out of that Exxon many times, and never even considered eating here. I was hungry and grabbed a chicken quesadilla to go. It was one of the best quesadillas I've ever had, have since been back and gotten the steak and some other things. The cheese pulls are ridiculous. Hidden Gem!“

“I blindly put the orange sauce all over my taco papusas and now my mouth is screaming.I came here craving tamales and also ordered the steak taco papusas. The tamales were alright. But I was looking for more of a SoCal Mexican tamale and these were not it. They're small sweet corn tamales with Salvadoran sour cream on the side and they do make for a good appetizer. But definitely not a savory meal and that's okay. The taco papusas were molten hot and delicious. I'm stuffed. The first one I had I poured the green salsa and lime over, but I couldn't pick it up, so I dug in with a fork. It was great. The second one however... Without tasting the orange sauce, I dumped it all over and took a bite. It's not an intense flavor, but boy oh boy does it burn. I almost wasted my horchata trying to cool my mouth off to eat. 10/10 would burn again. The cashier definitely didn't speak English well. And I don't speak Spanish well. Possibly in the future, I'll order online to make it less confusing for everyone involved. Regardless we managed to get my order in which was clearly displayed on the screen. It worked out. It did not help that I kept changing my mind on items halfway through.I'm definitely ordering from here again when I'm done feeling like a stuffed balloon.“

“I truly enjoy this place. I come here often to get the same dish. I grab their 3 carne asada tacos. It’s one of my favorite spots to pick up tacos. Very authentic. I have had their paposas (not sure if I spelled it correctly) and they are great also. The service is kind and friendly. It seems like a family own business.“

“Tried Maria's yesterday after reading about it on the Support MOCO restaurant FB page. They didn't steer me wrong. Lovely little cafe with delicious food. I had the chicken fajitas- they were fresh and delicious with rice, beans, tortillas, and their homemade guacamole. I was in heaven. Will definitely be coming back. A lot.“

“My friend and I ate here last week, and I can't stop thinking about it. The Yuca con Chicharron was the best I've ever had. The yuca was cooked to perfection and the pork has an amazing flavor & texture. I also had a delicious papusa. Lastly the Horchata was the perfect blend of flavor & sweetness. The staff was very friendly & accommodating, the restaurant has a great vibe and I can't wait to return.“

“This place quickly became one of our family's go to eateries when they first opened. I've had a different meal each time we've gone here and every dish was delicious. We have gone probably ten times so far. Atmosphere is great and even better now after the remodel. The service is sometimes slow, but the staff are always friendly and helpful. The drinks are a little pricey too. I just paid ten bucks for a shot of Jack Daniel's on Friday. Most other places that would be between 6-8 bucks. Highly recommended Acapulco though.“

“I almost didn’t want to write this because this truck has become my BEST kept secret lol but I can’t deny them a worthy review. The food is SO DAMN GOOD!!!!!!! Fresh, quality, seasoned ingredients, GENEROUS HEFTY PORTIONS, & literally EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS!!! I’ve gotten their steak taco bowl, chicken taco bowl, carne asada tacos, pupusas, steak quesadillas, burritos, made to order and everything was loaded with meat, fresh veggies, delicious condiments and sides. Even their sour cream is perfect & I don’t even like sour cream that much.I love it here!!!!!!!!! Side note: they are so hardworking and sweet, they’ve even been open during inclement weather, which I have thanked them for profusely. I will keep supporting this business ever chance I get as I could eat here everyday happily.“

“eunice, with all respect to your review but no where in the area red-snapper cost $13.99 a red snapper wont cost you less than $30 in any type of restaurant from low end to high end. living cost are going up every day. prices are difficult to maintain always the same. i’m a customer that have been visiting from a longtime and have seen the prices changes but the quality and quantity of my food will never change. if you want to maintain the quality of the of a good product you pay for it.Food is definitely good BUT the prices you see on the menu ARE NOT what they charge you.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$Food is definitely good BUT the prices you see on the menu ARE NOT what they charge you.I ordered a fried fish and they asked me if I wanted tilapia or red snapper, I said snapper. The menu showed 13.99 for tilapia, so I figured the snapper would be around that price, they charged me $25 for that plate. Not even in a fancy restaurant they charge that much for fried fish.Pupusas are 2.75, they are good.Tacos are 3.75, also good. The lady who cooks and serves is nice and it would’ve been a great experience if it wasn’t for the overcharge. If you show a price on the menu commit to it, or just adjust the prices. Easy.“

“If you want authentic homemade Mexican food, this a great place to go. Small little shop that offers a variety of different Mexican dishes. Personally my favorite dish to order is the gordita campechan. Comes with pork and steak. Pack full of flavor and with the hot sauce make it a 10/10. The tacos and pupusas are good as well but my MVP is the Gordita. Will definitely be back“

“This is not a Restaurant, if you look for the place there is a house that apparently sells beer, on one side you will see a white food truck and this is where you have to order the variety of dishes they offer. The price-quality-flavor are very good and they are very worth enjoying either right there on some tables that they have which would be uncomfortable in cold weather because it is outdoors, so it is better to order to go.“

“I've been a loyal customer of Las Placitas for over two decades! I've followed them from their old location to their new location here in Navy Yard. Their food never disappoints and it's a place you can come to whine down. Don Jose is the face of the restaurant and he's one of the main reasons I always come back! I couldn't recommend this place enough“

“A very tasty Salvadoran restaurant in Mt Pleasant! I was really blown away by the flavors of the pupusas, although the plates were a little lackluster. The steak could have been slightly more tender, for instance. This was a very tasty place and I would encourage you to eat this food--but most likely do take out. We had a very unpleasant experience in the restaurant when an argument erupted between the workers and some Mt Pleasant locals who appeared to be panhandling inside the restaurant. It was not handled quickly or quietly, which made the experience quite unpleasant for all.“

“This place is a hidden gem. Inexpensive, authentic, and delicious Latin American food. The pupusas and tacos are great. There are other things on the menu but I’ve never tried them, because once you’ve tried the pupusas and tacos it’s hard to order anything else.“

“We got another diamond in the rough here, friends! These folks know how to cook. Looks like the building might be a former gas station or old quickie mart, but inside you'll find friendly people and tasty food! The Platos (platters) are a good deal: a choice of meat, that comes with rice, bean dip, fresh salad, and a few soft tacos. Everything just tastes fresh! I had the Plato with Bistec Encebollado and it was delicious! That meat was super juicy. Washed it all down with some of the best homemade Horchata that I've ever had, seriously. Go check it out!“

“I knew the food was going to be delicious once we walked in and saw a bunch of locals just hanging out drinking beers. The vibes were great. The pupusas were delicious, chicharrón con yuca was not dry at all and full of flavor. The music was also great. Our server was handling everything on her own from the front to waiting the tables and this was the best service we had while visiting DC. We can’t wait to come back!“

“Local and authentic Pupusería. $6 for 2. Fresh and made to order, lots of options but I went with just bean and cheese and cheese. Service was friendly and fast. The restaurant is small on the inside but there's a pretty large outdoor covered patio. Definitely recommend and would be interested in their other offerings.“

“IF YOU ARE A FAN OF DELICIOUS FLAVOR, GO HERE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!Angel's Restaurant is a very unsuspecting place, so go in knowing that there's not much to look at while you eat. BUT!!! The food MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR THAT!! I went in craving tacos and I wasn't disappointed at all! They have "putacos" which is a glorious marriage of a pupusa and a taco, and they are heavenly!!!! I also ordered their chicken tacos and I was in love with them too!! Our waitress was also very nice and kindly explained the menu to us, which helped a lot! I can't wait to go back!!“

“*CHEF'S KISS* Cozy and utilitarian ambiance, with a cute tiny bar, very friendly and attentive service. But THE FOOD though! I just stopped in because it was near my barber and I knew that I could satisfy my "2 meal hunger" for relatively cheap. Frankly and honestly, this was the best Honduran food I've ever tasted. I don't say that lightly, I have eaten A LOT of good Salvadoran and Honduran food since I moved to the area in 2007. I've even had homemade pupusas from mothers of my students on a regular basis. I'm normally not a fan of refried beans on my Tostadas or in fajitas, but they used just the right amount, & they were damn good. For once I feel they actually contributed to the taste of the Baleada and Catracha instead of taking away. The food was so good I have finally dedicated the names of these dishes to memory. in the past they never made a big impact flavor- wise, just kind of good, simple Central American home cooking classics. Everything here was absolutely cooked to perfection and the chef knows exactly what balance of ingredients and fillings are exceptionally delicious in texture and complimentary flavors . STANDOUTS: The Catracha & the Baleada: Baleada -- roughly translated - a Honduran (person). Here the tostada is a double fried corn tortilla with refried beans, and crumbled farmers cheese. I have never had a fried corn tostada so decadently crispy-fried. I literally said " oh my gawd" when I took my first bite. The Baleada was soft and pillowy on the inside and was just the right amount of pan-crisp on the outside. The avocado, beans, cheese, egg, and crema just complemented one another, nothing overwhelmed anything else in flavor or texture. Perfect balance.“

“The food is served cafeteria style. They have a wide array of selections... From chicken to beef to fish. They have pupusas, tortas, etc. The pricing for the food is reasonable. Be on the lookout for deals! The atmosphere was okay. My only gripe was that the music was too loud.“
