“I had Ethiopian cuisine on my bucket list for real long time, but since I couldn't find much time to visit any Ethiopian restaurant in New York city, I decided to go ahead with the one in Washington DC!Initially, I was a bit hesitant to order the meat dishes since my last adventure with African cuisine wasn't a great one. Glad that Ethiopians have a good amount of vegetables in their diet which helped me make a safe and easy choice to go with!I went ahead with their traditional veggie platter, which consisted of 2 vegetables, 2 lentil dishes and a salad served over Injera( basically the Ethiopian version of dosa: An Indian dish and a much softer one instead of crispy). The vegetables served were cluster beans along with cabbage and potato. The cluster beans felt right out of my home kitchen whereas the potato was undercooked in the cabbage one! The two lentil dishes served out of which one was the spicy one and the other not spicy. I loved both of them. Honestly, I never thought it would be so close to traditional Indian cuisine as a result I also let the server know the same. The server was pretty friendly and was happy to guide me through their menu while providing quick service. The restaurant though feels like a homely vibe with close seating and the ambiance being that of a family home.Overall, an amazing experience for me with interesting thing being it felt like having a home cooked meal rather than eating at a restaurant!“
“Amzing place with a long history that definitely gets five stars in every category. We were served by Johny who went out of his way to please us. Food was amazing and high quality. We made reservations and were seated at the table real quick. Place definitely didnt dissapoint and I highly recomend it.“
“Tashawn made my friend and I’s experience 10Xs better than it already was. He was attentive, charming, and funny! Not only were the lemon ricotta pancakes and truffle fries amazing, the overall experience was as well! Def recommend The Pembroke for brunch ???“
“I thought that for the price, the food and service were very good. I appreciated that they were able to accommodate a walk-in for weekend brunch. The hostess was very polite and the servers were very attentive. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms which were very nice compared to a lot of restaurants in DC. For a restaurant I had not heard of prior to visiting, I was pleasantly surprised!“
“I was devastated when I showed up for my reservation today when I realized my reservation was actually for tomorrow, but I left feeling QUITE the opposite. The hostess (I did not catch her name) told us she could squeeze us in as long as we didn’t stay past a certain time (which was so generous and more than enough time to begin with). We ordered our drinks, and when the drinks came, the (manager? bartender? i’m not sure) brought them out and even included a drink he said he created the recipe for yesterday and wanted our thoughts on it! all of the drinks were amazing. the hostess came to our table and told us she even moved reservations around so we didnt have to feel rushed (wish we didn’t to begin with)! it was just so sweet. our food was just as good, if not better. our server (anthony) was so kind.i had high expectations of the food going into dinner but the service was just as great!“
“Have stopped in twice, both times for the Happy Hour in the first floor bar area. The drinks have been excellent and the bartenders attentive. The food options for the HH are varied and each dish was satisfying and unique. Highlights are the soup dumplings, pork belly, and khachapuri breads (cannot go wrong with any of the varieties). I haven’t tried for a standard dinner but the tastings I’ve had and service make this a great spot. Street parking only if you’re driving, but the neighborhood is solid and you shouldn’t have too much issue.“
“Absolutely outstanding. Cannot recommend The Little Grand highly enough. Their pizza is the best in the DC area and their service and atmosphere are incredible as well. Straightforward and thoughtful menu and the staff are more than happy to help you determine the best options for your taste, just ask. Cocktails are awesome and the wine list is focused and always interesting. Definitely check it out.Parking: Always parking available on the side streets.Kid-friendliness: Great with kids. Very welcoming atmosphere for families, especially early in the evening.“
“Went here on a first date and it was a fun spot! It took a little while to get a table and the service was a tad on the slower side but they were super busy and it was a Friday night so it made sense! We both ordered margaritas on the rocks and they were delicious and a good size/strength, not too sweet. The app we got was chips and guac and it was a great size for the price. We also both ordered 3 tacos from the options listed, both of our favorites was the Al pastor. Only complaint here was that the plate was this like rock slab so as the tacos dripped there was not edge to catch it and our waiter took a bit to get us extra napkins. I believe they were recently featured in a Washington post article or something like that so they might've been super busy because of that! Also as an aside, we had to try one of the tacos with ants in it because that's a unique experience and they were much larger ants than expected! Not my taste and weirded me out a bit but cool that they have the option!“
“I live in the neighborhood and once in a while when I want to just have a super chill, super yummy, super special experience I rack my brain to think of where to go? So many options but I always come back here. Like a warm, wholesome spongy Injera with a comfy lounge and an outdoor area to just relax and be. ❤️“
“This is a total K-Street lobbyist bar with nice drinks at insane prices. The room is dark and swanky with great artwork of politicians from both sides of the aisle, upscale bar snacks come with your table, and you’ll pay $35 for an ounce of Woodford - but you may spot a member of Congress, too. This is a spot frequented by corporate accounts and special-interest types, but it’s a cool, old-school DC room and perfectly executed.“
“Rooftop dance parties with DC's hottest DJs and our famous Bell Shot Challenge are just the beginning. Come see for yourself what a true DC party experience looks like!SALAZAR is a playground for the night owl and a place where the night is always young and the fun never stops.Located on the bustling 14th Street corridor, SALAZAR offers an oasis for those who love tequila and tacos. The large space features four bars, including two on the rooftop, one on the main floor under the iconic DRINK TEQUILA DAILY neon grass wall and one in the large basement, where the DJ holds court and dancing on the banquettes is not only encouraged but expected. You haven't had a DC party experience unless you've thrown an ice shot at our giant rooftop bell and there's no judgement if you need to do a second or third to win the challenge. There is never a cover and we have DJs on weekend nights, all day on Saturday for our day parties and on holidays.Large groups are always welcome here, with a variety of private and semi-private spaces available for groups. They don't believe in room fees and the booking process is as stressful as possible.Whether it's for daily happy hour, bottomless margaritas at brunch, Taco Tuesday, late night Thursday specials or on the dance floor, they hope to raise a glass with you soon.“
“My wife and I had dinner on our anniversary and the food and service was outstanding. The menu is full of outstanding options and the atmosphere and vibe is great for date night or dinner with friends. Definitely one of the best restaurants in DC!“
“When you think of a speakeasy… this place looks like what comes to mind. Down a flight of stairs leading to oversized doors you find yourself stepping back in time and greeted by a skilled bartender sporting a handlebar mustache. Great for an after dinner drink or to just hang out with friends.“
“If I could give this place 100/5 I would. Went for a drink, stayed for 3 hours. Luke is the best bartender both in the drinks he makes but also helping find the right cocktail for your mood. Even gave us a few small samples of the drinks on tap to try beforehand.GET THE RHUBARB SODA it might change your life. Most of the people at the bar with us were locals and regulars. Very cute decor as well.Small spot so limited seating. If you want to go for dinner recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.If I lived here I’d have my name engraved on a stool.“
“Great drinks, attentive and fun bartenders in a cool, laid back atmosphere. After experiencing a night of disappointing and overpriced cocktails, this place made all right with the world. I ordered a Paper Plane and it was fantastic. Love this place.“
“The staff is amazing, I want to big up Donovan, he is an amazing waiter, bartender and salesman. I would love to see a “day party” aspect of JP’s upstairs if at all possible. We usually come every Saturday after our Volo games and would love to listen to music and possibly dance after our Volo games, just a thought. Thank You!“
“Vagabond is seriously one of the best places I’ve had dinner so far. My best friend and I came in for dinner and seriously enjoyed the beautiful decor, the food, and the attentive service. We started with the warm, fresh pita and dip trio. I had the Happy Hour Hawaiian Chicken Sliders, and they tasted so fresh and delicious. My friend and I were repeatedly saying, “This is everything”. It was amazing and we will be back“
“A great surprise! First time tasting Ethiopian cuisine, we really liked the flavors even if some were a little spicy for us... a cuisine that deserves to be known. The service was very long at the beginning before someone came to see us but the waitress was very nice and we were then quickly served. We recommend this address!“
“Me and a friend consistently debate whether or not Jane Jane has the best cocktails in DC. They constantly impress and I love coming back.I love the seasonal rotating drinks and the atmosphere is welcoming and accepting. The only downside is that I wish they would lower the music slightly so I don’t have to yell the entire time.“
“9/10Got the chicken sandwich (comes with fries) and a blueberry lemonadeChicken sandwich was nice an crispy, I took off the cheese bc I'm lactose, I would just say it needs a sauce (I added mayo at home)The fries I didn't really care for bc I hate seasoned fries but they weren't badThe blueberry lemonade was great ?Seems like a cool, lil cozy spot that may be a little unknown (that's a great thing for the locals ?) and it's black owned !!!“
“Tom’s Watch Bar is one of my favorite spots to go in the National Harbor! Shout out to our wonderful waiter Cam!!! Thank you for your amazing customer service and for making our experience at Tom’s wonderful! Highly recommend going to Tom’s you will always feel welcome and the food and drinks are delicious ? ?“
“One of the top Detroit Style pizzas in DC. I chose the Mexican Town pizza, and it was really delicious, full of different tastes and tajin spice. The bartender, Adam, was super friendly and fun to talk to. I totally suggest going there for a drink, yummy pizza, and a great conversation with Adam.“
“All of our appetizers and our two pizzas was a real food experience. The creations and presentation were outstanding. We had a large variety and each dish was amazing . The pistachio baklava cheesecake was over the top. Staff very friendly too❤️“
“Excellent beer in a basement that serves a great selection of Belgian and monk-ist beers. Beers are affordable ($8-15), especially because most of them are higher in abv. I didn't have a chance to try the food, but I'd come back to try mussels! Their menu looked intriguing. Service was a typical bar but their seating was very cool chapel pews. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. Bartender was efficient and seemed to have quite a few regulars at the bar. Overall a quiet place to have conversations! I'll be back.“
“The ingredients are top-notch, but if you like or are accustomed to picking up a slice of pizza with your hand, prepare to be disappointed and challenged here because the pies here are consistently limp amd soggy. I live across the street and the few times I have ordered takeout pizza from this place, I go home and finish cooking it in my own oven. It's pretty damn tasty afterwards too.“
“Yes! I love the concept. I love how it’s a hand made patty and the burger was cooked perfectly. In addition, you have an option to add items to your burger if you do the build your burger option. You can also choose their preselected choices which look really good. I chose to add sautéed onions, bacon, and Italian sausage. I will say although the Italian sausage was good, I wouldn’t add it again; it didn’t hurt the burger overall. You choose your seasoning (I chose basic), sauce (house bbq), lettuce and tomato. I also ordered the seasoned fries (garlic parmesan). I was curious so I asked for the spicy ranch. It was pretty good.“
“This is great for a quick lunch or dinner. There is good variety and great flavors. We were a party of 5 and all ordered different variations. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. This is elevated grilled cheese for adults but lets the kids order something simple. Win win.“
“Stayed at a hotel nearby and found the Hive Bar as we walked the neighborhood. We were looking for something fast and tasty and the pizza did not disappoint!! They were trying out a new menu (for the Super Bowl) so we snacked on popcorn chicken and tatters as well. Tatters are a favorite!!“The” Old Fashioned cocktail was amazing!! Our bartender was an expert and made this delicious drink delicious every time! The bar is accessible, with a bar and tables on the first floor, and an elevator to the rooftop bar. The pizza/food is delivered from &Pizza which is attached to the hotel.Street parking was easy on the weekend.“
“I've always wanted to try this bar ever since it opened. We came on a Saturday around 9:45/10pm (it closes at 11) and it was very lively! The bar itself is small so it may be hard to get the bartender's attention but when you do, they are very efficient and helpful. There's plenty of seating in the Bryant Street Market food hall, so you can take your drinks away from this boisterous end of the market if you want to have a quiet conversation. We only tried 2 drinks, the mezcal and regular tequila margaritas, on this visit. The menu looks intriguing and I'd want to come back to try a few of their more complex cocktails. The food bites looked good when others ordered them, but they did seem small so you might want to order more if you're hungry or check out other places in the market. They have a happy hour as well, so I'll have to make a return visit to check that out!“
“ChurchKey offers an extensive selection of craft beers, making it a haven for beer enthusiasts. The ambiance is trendy yet relaxed, with dim lighting and a comfortable atmosphere perfect for socializing. The menu features a diverse range of beer styles from local breweries and around the world, ensuring there's something for every palate. The knowledgeable staff are eager to guide patrons through the beer selection, offering recommendations based on taste preferences. Overall, ChurchKey provides a memorable experience for beer lovers seeking quality brews in a lively setting.“
“We went upstairs to the covered and heated rooftop bar. There were tons of board games to choose from so we decided on trivial pursuit. The beer selection here is phenomenal and I tried my first Lagunitas hoppy refresher, a non alcoholic zero calorie sparkling water with the flavor of refreshing hops! It was the flavor of beer without the calories or the alcohol, brilliant! Our bartender was super fast and very friendly. A great spot to check out if you're in the neighborhood.“
“Incredible dive bar, very impressive beer list, free popcorn?? Very attentive and efficient service, bartender was 100% aware of what was up. Great ambience/vibes. Couldn't ask for more. 10/10 spot, would recommend to anyone for a quality beer an unpretentious night out. “
“This new bar in town is worth the hype. Everything on the menu is non-alcoholic, rivaling local wine menus at the largest and more expensive restaurants. They have a TV for those who love sports, and a family atmosphere ready for a friendly conversation. It’s the perfect date night spot, and Filipino owned and led.“
“Super cool spot!!!!!!!! I’ve been coming here since Wilfredo first opened his doors. I’ve come to think of it as a home away from home. The food is exactly what the doctor ordered after a long days work. Karaoke Tuesdays has completely brought me out of my shell. It’s definitely become a hidden gem for the Brightwood community. I highly recommend stopping in and checking it out.“
“NOT TODDLER FRIENDLY. Vibes are off.Is this a fancy upscale restaurant where you experience a quiet atmosphere, enjoy a duck confit quesadilla (it was ok) and have to make a reservation (they turned away 3 parties when we were sitting at the bar and there were open table.. clearly a mismanaged house or kitchen.OR is this a place to pop in for a pint and a burger after playing tennis or kicking a soccer ball around the park next door? The restaurant is not sure. Neither were we.We guessed it was a pop in place. I wish they had just said “no kids at the bar” or something instead of letting me and my husband and our two kids sit down.No crayons or stickers or anything for kids, though there were Elmo’s around the place and it was decorated with some cool vintage toys.At one point the manager or someone told *me* that my kids (2 and 4) need to “stay in their seats”And that my toddler curiously walking up to another kid at another table was “not appropriate” (there was another toddler also walking around… )Oh and he told me this lol when my *husband* was walking around the restaurant with my kids. Always blame the moms! #patriarchyWill not be going back.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly“
“My servers name was Andrew, and he was Fabulous!! His personality mixed with attentiveness and knowledge of spirits, makes him a top notch asset to this restaurant.....Food, drinks, and ambiance made this experience unforgettable. This along with the 5 star service I received from Andrew will definitely make me a repeat guest. And it doesnr hurt that he's handsome!“
“Service was amazing when I went. I arrived literally at 10PM when their kitchen closed and my bartender still let me sneak an order of dumplings in. It was so worth it! My first time here and glad I found it. Cute cocktail bar with speakeasy-ish vibes with reasonable prices. Will def be back!“
“Cant wait to come back with warmer weather. Food seemed pricey at first but between what you get and quality, it was on point and now want to try lots more on the menu. Atmosphere was chill and vibrant. Took care of me and my friend at the bar. Loved it.“
“Bar food, friendly, and community. I hadn't heard of this place until a week ago. Make this your bar. Great food, decent prices for DC, yeah I get DC prices, and a soul. Go, have a Wherever I go, He Goes. Get vegan Mac, I ain't vegan - pause, think I just asked you to get vegan mac - and the short rib burger. Enjoy.Vegetarian options: I am a hunter and meat eater, vegan mac and cheese. Vegan bowl is fine, mac and cheese is truth. Also, I date a vegetarian, forgive me, nachos no meat, veggies nachos unreal.Kid-friendliness: I walked in with Mom and son here. Definitely kid friendly, you might have one random yelling about a ballgame but entirely family friendly.“
“This charming boutique LGBT bar in Washington DC truly stands out. The servers greeted us warmly, and the atmosphere buzzed with delight. The seating area was exquisite, complemented by a lovely bar. During the Valentine's season, the decor was tastefully adorned, enhancing the experience. The cocktails were expertly crafted, boasting a unique and potent flavor profile that set them apart. I wholeheartedly suggest giving them a try; the drinks are truly exceptional. Alongside a selection of chips, nuts, and a delightful cheeseboard, they offer a range of food options that align perfectly with the bar's boutique theme. The prices were fair, reflecting the high quality and generous quantities of the drinks. We visited this gem twice during our brief stay in DC, and it was a delightful experience each time.“
“I was impressed to say the least with the food. It was amazing!!!! You have to go try it out. The music was on point and the atmosphere feels kind of like a club in Miami. The music is loud just so you know. I thoroughly enjoyed it myself though. I wouldn’t have changed anything.“
“I went there because no other restaurants around there had open seating and I didn't have reservations. I should have come here first because the food was great. The hostess set us up for a table for five right away, which suprised me because it was crowded. Our waitress was right on top of things and our food came quickly. I had the chicken parm sandwich and I loved it. The other in my group had burgers of different varieties. Everyone thought the food was delicious. The bar was good too. I'd definitely come back.“
“We have a complicated past with Roscoe's. We live just a block away in Old Town Takoma Park. When they opened we went there a couple of times and it was just plain bad. There were almost no toppings on the pizza and it was all pretty tasteless. So for the last more than a decade we've avoided them - which bummed me out. I love to support our local businesses but there have been, in the past, a few clunkers. And Roscoe's was yet another one. But the other day when I was walking my dog I thought, "Why do I always see people eating both indoors and outdoors there?" So I thought, "Well, let's give them another chance. Maybe they've change in over a decade!!" And have they ever. My husband and I had the Roasted Beet Salad, the Antica Pizza and the Siciliana White PIzza. It was all REALLY good. The Antica was a little greasy so I did some degreasing. The salad was perfect and substantial. The pizzas were really flavorful (with a lot of toppings) and the woodfired pizza was crispy and chewy. Just great. We'll definitely be back since we pretty much live right next door!“
“My husband, myself, and our three sons dined here last night. It was a such a wonderful and unique experience from start to finish. We had the pasta paella, the oxtail croquettas, the pork belly bao, the ceviche for dinner. For dessert we had the jelly like pie, the cafecito, and the chocolate and mango/passion fruit ice creams. The music and atmosphere were so dreamy. The decor was so beautifully interlaced together with tropical plants and midcentury modern furniture and fixtures. We will be back on our next trip to the DC area.“
“We had such an amazing experience! Initially, we planned to dine at Maydan, which has outdoor seating. However, since Medina was closed that day, we unexpectedly had the opportunity to sit inside at Medina and still enjoy Maydan’s menu. The vibe, the food and the service - all impeccable. It was just the two of us so we didn’t get the tawle (food tasting) menu, however the a la carte experience was just as filling if not more.“
“My husband and I were guests at Cosmos Club recently for dinner. The staff were amazing and very attentive. The menu had great options and made it hard to pick! We also enjoyed coffee and dessert. We loved the atmosphere, the food, and the people.“
“My colleague lives in the area and invited me for a drink and I had never heard of the spot. It was chill around happy hour, kinda empty. Classic dive bar. The beer was cold. By the second drink the place started to fill and it seemed like the male/female ratio was very lopsided to the female persuasion and at first I was like “cool”, and then I reeeally took it all in and started to wonder if I was at a gay bar (which is still totally cool). Maybe it was the vendor selling “Dyke” merchandise, or the fact that for once I was able to enjoy a drink without being bothered by strangers or crowded by yuppies. Either way the atmosphere was conducive to minding my own business and having a good time. The outdoor area is great. The upstairs had vendors with various art and wares they made. I have since learned that the event was actually “Dew Drop’s Dyke Party”. I would gladly come to another Tuesday “Dyke Party” if it’s always so chill (albeit not very diverse). The downstairs also had a bar and around 8 there was Christmas-themed live music of the R&B/Soul/Jazz persuasion. This crowd was substantially more eclectic and in my subjective views couldn’t be categorized as homogenous. Free live music in DC is unheard of so I was extremely gracious. My only complaint is that this is a dive in the heart of the dmv that doesn’t serve National Bohemian. But I have since learned that they allow dogs so I won’t hold it against them.“
“The Jewel of India, epitomizes classic and authentic Indian cuisine. Bright on the menu, one can find diversified culinary heritages of India. Not only fine food takes the dining experience here to another level; outstanding warm service does. Attentive and genuinely warm staff place every guest to a special space which can be nothing else than Indian hospitality. Adding on ambience of light and Indian classical music, it is a sumptuous, great experience that lures one back for more. Whether your love of Indian spices is an old affair or you are just coming to these eclectic flavors.“
“I had such a blast at Kick Axe Throwing!! There is so much versatility in the space and a whole range of options of things to do!!There’s giant Jenga, a bunch of board games, giant Connect 4, a bar with a host of fantastic cocktails to choose from plus so so much more. The music was also really on point and had me adding a bunch of songs to my playlist!!Of course, there is the axe throwing… Which I 10/10 would recommend doing. We made a reservation on the same day, and were lucky there were slots available!! Before starting we got a 5-10 min tutorial on safety rules and technique with throwing the axe , which helped A LOT & also made me super comfortable.I liked the energy a lot — there were a good range of birthdays being celebrated, dates happening, friends hanging out… It was an all round great vibe!! I’m looking forward to going back and maybe grabbing some drinks, food, and playing some jumbo Jenga!!!“
“This place is a little hard to find but definitely worth the effort. Great Mexican food and fantastic service. The servings are huge, I think the queso dip could serve 8 people. Margaritas were okay but beers from the giant cooler of beer were cold and refreshing.“
