“I love Tacos a La Madre, my favorite thing is the shrimp tacos and the og Carne Asada Fries and that’s actually my to go order, we’ve tried the Birria nachos as well and my bf likes them. I tried the birria tacos when they first opened but i didn’t really like them but that might be just me, they tasted plane and the tortilla was floured tortilla not really corn tortilla but I have they to give it another try. The people are nice here but if you try to call to place an order you should just make it online bc sometimes they are really busy and may take a while for them to pick up the phone.“
“This food truck has the best food. We have ordered burrito bowls, pork rib platters, and beef rub platters over the years. Everything and anything we order is seasoned well, tender, and well portioned. We will definitely keep coming back for more of this delicious food.“
“The burritos are great here: fresh ingredients wrapped in a beautiful, almost polished, tortilla.Chilled Jarrito sodas sold here too.I was surprised to find this is a food truck in a quasi-permanent installation near a gas station, but don't let that stop you. And, there is a suitable sit-down space across the street and the Takoma Junction community area including a covered area.One suggestion to the restaurant: add some more sauce options; my personal favorite is chipotle sauce ?“
“Went on a Saturday night and it was great! I had the Guinness Stew and my friend had the sheperd’s pie - both were delicious. We tried their Irish mules (they have whiskey instead of vodka). The drinks were quite tasty. There was live music which was slightly too loud at the beginning but that was mostly due to the speakers. The wait staff was very friendly and nice.“
“I got the carne asada entree and my sister got the chicken fajitas. Flavor was definitely there. Expensive compared to other Mexican places in the area and they do not serve alcohol. Overall food stars, not the best Mexican food I have had but pretty darn good.Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and was able to eat a lot of the items here. Staff was knowledgeable about what had wheat flour. Their homemade corn tortillas have a bit of wheat flour.“
“This is where we need to go! Small business owners who make genuine food from the heart. I had the opportunity to meet the wonderful owner Ruby. She was a gem. And she has a gem that she serves to the community. I appreciated that she gave me a moment to speak while it was slow to share the history of where she came and where her and her team are going. This is a fairly new business, has not been open for more than a year. To everyone in the community far and wide. Whether you're black, Latino, native, blue, orange, or however you identify, it doesn't matter! Come and enjoy this soulful food. She was so welcoming and the warm welcome and how she explained the dishes to me, delivered an experience that I will never forget. I wish her and her team much success ??.Now, into the food -Pupusas (chicken and cheese) -10/10Coleslaw- 9/10 (It's new for me. But I like it. Need to try more.Plantains - 8/10 (Everyone likes plantains different. So I'm sure they'd be a 10/10 if I'd communicated that I like them fried hard.Yuka w/meat and coleslaw- 10/10! Wow! I have never had this dish before but the flavors. The seasoning to perfection.Overall - Maria's is more than pupusas. There's some history, there are always stories, and there is plethora of food. On the weekends, this spot is said to have over 400-600 patrons that come out to enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the service. This business also does catering.(I was not paid for this review. I walked in curiously after being served old food from the sub China shop across the street and had to throw the food away. And Maria's stood out like a bright light into a new dimension. “This hole in the whole is located inside Super Best International market. And, they have the best tacos! I mean wait everything on the menu is absolutely delicious! Everything is freshly made! It's usually just 1 or 2 people working so when you go be patient everything is made to order and you can taste it! I love coming here for something refreshing and delicious“
“The owners are genuinely great people and have ambitious goals for expanding the menu. The chicken and shrimp quesadilla was packed with flavor and very filling. I really enjoyed the chicken empanada and birria tacos. Each were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. They just got a pizza oven so I'm excited to see what type of pizzas they start offering. Highly recommend this spot for great food and great service!“
