“Walking into this charming little restaurant/bookshop, I was immediately a fan of the vibe of the establishment. The specialty coffee drinks were delicious. I got an iced sweet spice latte. I was even more pleasantly surprised when my food arrived. Grilled chicken panini with collards on the side. Everything was really tasty and I will definitely come back here next time I'm in the area.“
“I'm a little shocked by the negative reviews I'm seeing. I've been going to elevation burger for a decade and have never had a bad meal. The service isn't as fast as some other burger places but the food is fresh and the milkshakes are great.“
“One of my favorite restaurants in Washington! The price was reasonable and the portion was huge, so we ordered one and shared it between us, but we still had some leftover. It's great for brunch, and you can enjoy huge cinnamon rolls on the weekends! There are also homemade pop tarts, so there are a variety of fun things to try ?❤️“
“Eclectic mixture of offerings.Ukrainian borscht is true to what I remember from childhood. Halibut with coconut sauce is brilliant. Steak medallions complement a very Ukranian potato and are of highest quality. The owner, Olena is amazing and sweet.“
“Some of the best food that we had while we were in DC. This place has a fantastic ambiance, with great music playing in the restaurant via the speakers. The service is fantastic and always helpful on every request that you may need. And then there’s the food — the meatloaf was some of the best meatloaf I’ve ever had and I loved it. The other options were super tasty, like the buffalo cauliflower, and the baked Brie. All in all, I would suggest coming here for any sort of dinner plans while in DC!Vegetarian options: Several options that are listed either vegetarian or vegan.Dietary restrictions: Several different plates with different dietary needs listed, like vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.Parking: There is very little paid street parking near the place. I would suggest metro or walking/etc.Kid-friendliness: I wouldn’t necessarily bank on bringing your children here, it’s not really a place for them.“
“My husband made a reservation for my birthday dinner and the food, service and atmosphere was exceptional. Our server Francisco was top notched and very professional in detailing the menu and offering suggestions on drinks and food. A must go to when in DC, you won’t be disappointed.“
“I've eaten at The Union 3 times and they remain consistent with their food & service. The Asian Union and Pibil Chicken are full of flavor without being overwhelming. The employees are kind & caring with a home feel touch.I recommend for a simple night out or a quick bite to go.“
“Phenomenal experience and meal parking was actually very easy. We did have a later spot at 9:15 but they were able to take us earlier. The wine selection and drinks were great. Food was top-notch and everything was absolutely perfect. No complaints. I’m gluten-free and they had great options for me.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free“
“Wow, this place is great. It's not quite Michelin quality food, but I'm rating it five stars because it's better in a low-country way. It manages to achieve "soul food" status, in my opinion. As someone who grew up in Memphis, TN, and dearly misses the quality of cooking down south, this is higher praise (IMO) than a Michelin star. Our waitress (a short-haired brunette with glasses and the cutest red earrings, but whose name we couldn't recall) was amazing. Every question she asked seemed precisely word crafted to be the friendliest version of the question, while being timely and before we even thought to ask it of ourselves. We eat a lot of three star Michelin restaurants, but I don't recall ever having been served by a more thoughtful server. The food was splendid. Apologies for the bad pictures - they were something of an afterthought after we'd been diving in. The brisket and bone marrow Mac and Cheese was a favorite of everyone, but there was also something uniquely favored by each in our party of the entrées.Fine dining at reasonable prices, with service quality that can't be beat, Pennyroyal Station may well have proven itself my new favorite restaurant.“
“Such a romantic restaurant! Perfect for date night. My boyfriend & I had dinner here the Monday after valentine's day as a belated valentine's dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant still had its valentine's decor in the bar entrance. So lovely! We made reservations for seats in the outdoor patio under the grapevines due to the reviews from other guests. Each table has a fire pit. And that was the major selling point for me to pick this restaurant. Great ambience for dinner. The restaurants provide blankets upon request. The seat warmers weren't working, but I still requested to sit on one rather than sit directly on the cold steel of the patio chairs. The fire did a good job of keeping me warm as it was a chilly February night.Since it was a Monday evening, there weren't many guests which was great. Nice & quiet for a romantic dinner. The service was excellent. Our waiter recommended a Greek wine which both my boyfriend & I really enjoyed. The cuisine is Greek Mediterranean. The dishes were unique, creative, & had great presentation. Everything was delicious from start to finish. It's family style so all dishes from appetizers to entrees to dessert are shared. We enjoyed the experience & left full but not overly stuffed, which is always a plus. The citrus salad & housemade focaccio bread were particular delectable.Highly recommend!! We'll be back for sure.“
“Upon entering the hostess was very kind and patient (my dinner date was at the bar drinking) and waited while we got settled up and sat at our table. The server was knowledgeable on the food and offered great recommendations. We had the wedge salad, ribeye and the lamb shank. All were incredible and I highly recommend. Already looking forward to going back!“
“Loved drinks at the Silver Lyan. This is a cocktail bar for people who want to explore new ingredients. You may not know exactly what everything is, but the knowledgeable servers helped guide me in the right direction. To add to the excellent cocktails, they have some delicious small plates. We ordered the wagyu hot dog and hamachi tartare. I didn't know what to expect from the wagyu hot dog, but I was absolutely blown away. Toss any memories of eating a hot dog out the window. We did a 7pm reservation here and followed it up with an 8pm reservation at Cafe Riggs. This is the perfect amount of time to explore the cocktail menu and get a few small plates before starting dinner. The only downside of the bar is that cell phone service isn't ideal - since you are in an old bank vault - but it isn't too big, so you should be able to find your friend/date.“
“Food was good, we arrived early after an event at Kennedy Center and seated right away. While somewhat reasonable prices on menu, the actual food and serving size seemed a bit pricey, and with the new 4% fee on top of everything it ended up being not so great value.“
“Cute neighborhood haunt. The upstairs was pretty cozy. Seating left something to be desired but the windows and the fireplace were certainly a nice touch.Coffee was great, staff was nice and attentive.Outside would probably be lovely in the spring and fall. They do have a heated section on the side for outdoor seating where you can bring your dogs.Parking on the streets can be hit or miss so I do feel like if you're looking for the perfect "DC" coffee spot to write or read this could be it.“
“Good place to visit with family or friends. Good food and decent price. My favorite is avocado, toast with smoked salmon. This place located in good area around this place. You can find a bunch of different things like movies, escape room, other food places and shopping stores.“
“Perhaps it was slightly overhyped, but I did enjoy my overall dining experience. Cute interior with hanging florals. My party sat upstairs, where there was a bar nestled away in the corner. Although the downstairs seemed slightly crowded, there were more room upstairs. I ordered the a macchiato and pasta bolognese. Loved the macchiato! Perfect milk to espresso ratio. The pasta bolognese had the perfect texture. The sauce was not too overpowering or salty (which is an issue I typically have with this dish). It comes with a raw egg on top, which adds a hint of creaminess to the whole dish. Service was timely and standard. Almost had me worried when I got the wrong order, but my actual dish came out soon after. Cute place to hang out with your gurls.“
“I've been coming here for years with my friends for birthdays and just hangout. I like the ambiance, the food, and the staff. Melissa is our go to waitress, absolutely love her patience, kindness, attention, and professionalism. It's really nice that they revise their menu a little to match the season!“
“The menu and wine list has changed since our last time dining at BlackSalt. Actually had to return a bottle of French wine that was undrinkable/bitter.Fortunately, the wine server suggested a much better California wine that went well with the entrees. The food was great, as we expected.“
“They have a top rating for a reason. 5-star food, service, and atmosphere. The biscuit appetizer with pimento cheese is amazing. The wagyu steak was even better - the salt seasoning was on point. I put salt on everything but no need to here because it's so flavorful (and cooked to perfection). I don't even need to try the ice cream to review it. Its handmade, and they have so many flavors, including marshmallow. Wish I could've indulged. Instead, I got one of the five dessert alcoholic flights. Again, amazing.Service - from everyone but specifically my waiter Mika - was phenomenal. Loved everyone here. And atmosphere is so intimate and warm.If I had to critique, I'd say don't sit next to the door. Super cold and windy in this corridor area. And, sharpen the steak knives. ?.“
“This restaurant is a treasure in one of the best 5 star boutique hotels in Washington DC. Customer service is #1 priority for everyone associated with this hotel and restaurant. They make you feel like the most important guest there, remembering your name and every detail of your order. There was never a moment where we were looking for someone for a water refill or anything else.“
“We came here a year ago- review is below. Came back this year for dinner and this place is fabulous!!!! The service (all staff from kitchen to servers to bartenders) amazing and food is some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Salmon risotto was cooked perfectly and the mushroom fettuccine was also delicious. Generous wine pours and Jazz on Friday evening with dinner. You won’t break the bank either with the reasonable prices. Thank you!!!My previous review:Great Happy Hour! Generous wine pours and friendly bartenders. Love the ambiance inside too. We only ordered a beet salad to share which was delicious and will definitely be back for dinner. We saw some of the entrees and can’t wait to try the Paella!“
“Excellent food. We ordered 7 different things, including desserts, and two different cocktails each and every. single. thing was sooo good. Awesome and very friendly service from knowledgeable servers. The restaurant is also adorable. Comfortable and cozy with a nice vibe overall. Definitely a new go-to/favorite in our rotation.“
“Delicious! The portions were very large. I could of had another meal to take home. Everyone around me also got To Go boxes. Everything tasted very fresh. The chickpeas in the hummus were dried which was something I never had before and thought it added a really nice texture. The only thing I didn’t care for was the Pita. It was super thin and tough. I like mine soft and warm.“
“Fantastic find! We shared the burrata, which was very good. My husband had oysters, which he loves and eats frequently. These were fresh and just the right amount of briny. I had the seafood chowder - tasty and spicy without too much heat to enjoy. Sizeable portion - I brought half home. We shared a creme brûlée- terrific. But what set this place apart was the service - attentive, incredibly polite and highly competent, like the level of service you get at a Michelin starred restaurant. We were lucky to get a walk-in table at 5:30. I'd get a reservation. I can see why it's so busy - great place.“
“Commissary has always held a special place in my heart. I've seen it evolve a lot since it's pre pandemic days, and I'm really pleased at how they have marketed themselves, and especially their exceptional service.A few items missed the mark a little -- the fall harvest salad was missing walnuts, and the mahi mahi was a little dry and overcooked. They also seated us awkwardly and unnecessarily close to a group of friends. While they were not loud at all, I felt like I was ease dropping on their entire conversation and they knew it. I felt bad they may have tempered their topics on account of the child we had with us.However, the food was incredibly fresh and the flavor was balanced and satisfying. We had the fish and chips, mahi mahi, and kids wings. Our server even made our kid a custom smoothie. It was incredibly thoughtful and kind.We were able to walk into a moderately busy restaurant without a reservation at around 6pm.While the prices have gone up, their menu is fair and clear, and they even have a military discount. We spent $100+ including tip with no drinks. We are looking forward to our next visit, including early bottomless on a weekday where we are off work and the kiddo is in school! But overall, the food tastes wonderful, and theKid-friendliness: Servers are incredibly kind to children. Great kids menu selection includes items such as dessert and smoothies. Crayons available for the menu activities upon request“
“This was delicious. The mussels are said to be famous here and boy was that true! There was a generous portion in the bowl and it was sauced to perfection. The service was kind even with the room being a little cramped. I loved the Belgian atmosphere, like it was old Brussels! Recommend.“
“This place is the best! Marvin delivers excellent service every time. The drinks are good and food is even better! I was honestly shocked by how fresh and flavorful my meal was the first time I went. I could not recommend this place more as a friendly casual place to grab a bite to eat and a drink. Can’t wait to come back!“
“Highly recommend this place. It was like walking into a fantasy set. I let them know through open table that it was my husband and I anniversary. After 11 years of marriage we wanted to go to some place. Nice. They had us in this nice little booth ahead of chandelier. Look like it was something out of beauty and the beast with the faux book shows. Also, the different areas made you look like you're walking through a castle with the fountains and the giant floral arrangements. Food is super flavorful. It is like a classical French cuisine with a different stock reductions. Highly recommend. Also they just don't do classical French. There is parts of gastronomy and everything else highly recommend. The servers are very well versed in everything that is on the menu including the wine list.“
“The attention to detail is nothing like I've experienced before at a restaurant. The waitress that served us perfectly poured even servings of champagne and water. I dropped my towel accidentally several times and they replaced them before I even asked. The drinks are carefully thought out by the bartender and taste tested before serving so they know they got it right. The dishes are served perfectly and taken away with perfection as well. Everything tasted amazing of course! My favorite dishes were the grape desserts and the fried rice.PS: Also the only waitress working that night was very cute ?“
“Excellent spot for a weekend brunch in DC. Everything from their drinks to their food tasted great. All their staff members were helpful and attentive, which was a huge plus to the experience. There was so much flavor in all the dishes that the only thing we wished we could’ve done was try everything on their menu. It’s a restaurant in DC, so it’s no surprise the prices are a bit steep, but definitely worth checking out if you’re on the National Mall and want quality food to eat. Way better than any of the food trucks you’d find parking in the area. The restaurant also has a lovely atmosphere with lots of natural lighting — which adds to the welcoming vibe. A good place to take your friends out to lunch or a casual place for a date.“
“The entire experience was amazing - it was like front row seats at the theater but even better because of the interactivity. The chefs were talented and fun, the environment was comfortable and intimate, the food was inventive and delicious, the presentation was artistic, and the service was impeccable. Thank you for such a memorable evening!“
“We came to Bresca for restaurant week and sat at the bar. They were a little late in our reservation, but were apologetic, and brought us champagne and a cocktail while we were waiting (complimentary), which was a wonderful gesture! The service at the bar was amazing! It’s obvious that their staff is well trained and cares for their customers. We are excited to go back!Their cheesesteak bite is a must try!“
“We celebrated our Mom’s 80th birthday at Opal (the upstairs private dining room) and had a really special, celebratory and delicious evening - the Opal team really delivered on all the details (decor, cuisines and hospitality) - an absolute special night for our Mom and 22 guests! Thanks you - we’re looking forward to our next visit!“
“Low prices for a Bethesda business. The young Asian lady who takes my order is kind, professional, and always has a smile on her faceThe food is cooked the way I ask, and any questions I have are promptly answered. The pancakes, egg, and meat platter are on point. Along with the honey / ginger hot tea.Good place to go, and I don't eat out oftenKid-friendliness: This is a place you can bring your child(ren) for a quick bite to eatWheelchair accessibility: There's room if you are wheelchair bound“
“Unlike I’ve heard, reservations were easy to get. Staff was very accommodating, free Champagne tasting that night. Appetizers were DeLicious!!! Entrees also Delicious.Only issue we had was the music, it was excellent, just a lil too loud. Needed to be turned down a couple of notches…..“
“Strike up the band and let's celebrate Busboys and Poets. They have it together!!! They over deliver!!! It was my husband's birthday and he felt exactly the way that I needed him to feel on his special day. The bag that was used to deliver the food meant a lot to him because presentation matters greatly. In addition, he cooks exceptionally well himself and has discerning tastebuds. You should have heard the melody that he sang about the deliciousness of this delectable creation!!! He kept talking about how he was so pleased!!!Thanks Busboys and Poets!!! You all have always been one of my favorites!!!“
“My husband and I were guests at Cosmos Club recently for dinner. The staff were amazing and very attentive. The menu had great options and made it hard to pick! We also enjoyed coffee and dessert. We loved the atmosphere, the food, and the people.“
“I love coming here! It’s a cute little spot that has a cozy vibe! I’m a HUGE fan of the arepas — literally they are delicious! Sometimes I have to stop myself from buying several at a time. Their coffee is also really good, with more of the flavors heightened with oat milk. It’s a regular stop for me!“
“Five stars all around simply because our server (general manager) Stew, was far past amazing. Stew managed to get our orders exact despite me continuously interrupting him, made time to talk to us like we were actual friends of his, and went out of his way throughout our entire time served to be sure we were beyond comfortable. He was professional, warm, pleasant, patient, and kind. Our host was also extremely accommodating given we had accidentally booked our reservation for the following day. She instantly stated that we would get it figured out and made sure we felt prioritized despite our mistake. On top of amazing service, our food and drinks were great. Highly recommend the Rose-ini (strawberry mimosa - Stew taught us the cool names for flavored drinks!), the waffles, and the Greek. The atmosphere here is awesome, diverse, and so welcoming that it genuinely makes you feel like family. We had a great brunch and a great time here.“
“My husband and I visit last week while we were in DC for our two year anniversary. We decided to celebrate our actual wedding date by going to The Dabney. Our first michelin star restaurant experience set the bar high. From the start, the team was quick to answer our questions and was open to having us bring in a stroller since we had a newborn with us.Our server Ryan was absolutely exceptional and phenomenal. He did all he could to make the night special for us. All of the staff shared personal stories and tidbits of information throughout the night.Everything was meticulously crafted, plated, and presented to us with pride, joy, and love. The tiniest details made the largest impact on creating an overall completeness to each dish.It was breathtaking, palate pleasing, borderline overfilling, and will be a lasting memory and true highlight of our trip.If you are debating visiting this location, do it. Book that reservation. Try something new. Create a memory. And spread the word. A place like this deserves to be experienced.“
“My boyfriend and I dined in to celebrate our two year anniversary. We were blown away with the service, from check in through the moment we left. The host stand was efficient and organized, and even gave us menus that said, “Happy Anniversary!”. We dined with David, who is clearly a seasoned professional. He has fantastic menu knowledge and had a smile on his face the whole time. Complimented by the gorgeous and romantic vibes inside, there was not a better place for us to celebrate. After my first time in, I can say confidently that we will be back to Ris.“
“Finally had a chance to visit and my family and I had a delicious meal and got to catch up with an old friend. So proud of you Jen! Your restaurant/bar has a great atmosphere and great staff! Can't wait to return and try some more of the menu!“
“I had my birthday at Donahue for a private event room. The service was amazing, drinks were great, food tasted good, and we loved having our private room to play music in. Cesar and his team were so accommodating from start to finish and helping me plan. It was such a great evening! Everyone really enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere!! Definitely a must! If you have a event, or just want somewhere to have food, drinks and to chill with good music, Donahue is it!“
“10/10. Went for our anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Beautiful, understated atmosphere. Did the chefs tasting menu and every bite was perfect. Squash soup, tuna tartare, and ocean trout were our favorites. Left stuffed and happy. Easy walk from red line metro too.“
“Came as a large group so we ordered basically half of the menu and every single dish was delicious. The hummus and pita, the fries and aioli, the Venezuelan tequenos, the Greek wings. Also the Siddartha cocktail is one of the most delicious I've ever had! Will definitely be coming back!“
“5 stars for oysters. So gooooooodBoth fresh and baked3 stars for ceasar salad where there were biscuits instead of croutons5 stars for service - server was one of the coolest i ever met3 stars for atmosphere it was sunday night, nobody there, but we were seated in the coldest part near window (no view, there is big empty veranda outside)“
“This is a must visit restaurant & I promise you’ll keep coming back. The entire staff is a vibe with the ambiance to match, but that’s not even the best part. The food is AMAZING with lots of vegetarian options! The best way to describe this cuisine is imagining all international cuisines were prepare with the same love, care, and seasonings of the best cook in your family. Bronze has quickly become a fave in my household!“
“My husband and I agreed that this was the best meal we had in a long time. I started with the baked oysters, my husband had an eggplant parmesan salad, one of our friends had the artichokes a la romana and another the white bean truffle soup as appetizers. I had the mushroom wellington, my husband had the venison, one of our friends had the monkfish and the other the eggplant parmesan salad. We were all very happy with the food. As one of our party said, there are a lot of tasty vegetables in every plate, and he was right. Great food but we were not stuffed. I had the bananas foster bread pudding for dessert, which was fabulous. Also, a shout out to our waiter George, who was superb. We will return!“
“This place is great. Phil did an amazing job taking care of us and running the restaurant at the same time. I was super impressed that the service was prompt, personal, and detailed. We started with the Virginia cheddar croquettes and they were the highlight for me personally. We each ordered the pappardelle and were happy with it. I would definitely come back here for a glass of wine just to enjoy the intimate atmosphere. Great place for a date. I would say that it was on the slightly expensive side for the atmosphere and what you get.“
“I totally recommend this place you can celebrate birthday party’s and other party’s too! The music is lit at night and can dance around please came and join us for an incredible night!Parking: In the morning you have to pay for parking but after 10 don’t pay for parking is free all night.Kid-friendliness: The waitress are friendly to talk with and spend time with them too!“
