“Amazing food and service. We went here for Valentine's Day and experienced one of the top 10 meals of our lives (and I've been to a zillion places to eat, so this really really means a lot). Everything was top-notch with the flavoring, the portions, the tastes, the textures, the service, etc. I got the sake pairing and not only were the pours very liberal, the sakes they chose exquisitely paired with each course (the mushroom sake was especially taste-bud popping). Pictures of our courses are below. The dessert course was a huge lemon ice with lemon meringue pie in the middle - very fun presentation. We left feeling very sated and pleased. We will be taking family and friends here as often as we can. Yes, it is expensive, but it was absolutely worth it for the experience.“
“Quick update: I highly recommend Miyake as a place to stop in for lunch, too! It's a quieter vibe than dinner, so perfect for grabbing a seat at the sushi bar. There are bento box lunch specials and chef's choice sushi and sashimi, or you can order rolls from the lunch menu; I had a wonderful red snapper ceviche roll and of course, their wonderful miso soup!“
“Modern, contemporary spot with nice set up.. food was good but nothing extravagant esp considering the prices.. ended up pay $70 for just myself (for dinner)!Wanted to like the place more but besides the lobster buns appetizer, everything else was average/ good but nothing spectacular, including the ramen.Lobster buns were very good though a bit overwhelming with truffle oil, which I typically enjoy and still did but I think less would help not overpower the other ingredients.“
“Small cozy spot with delicious food. We had the pork belly ramen, highly recommend. Pork was very flavorful, and definitely get the side of spicy sauce if you like spicy. A pretty large portion too for a reasonable price. We'll be going back to try the poke bowls, which are all customizable with a pretty good selection of veggies and toppings.Only downside is if you're allergic/not a fan of seafood there was not a lot of options, tofu or pork only.“
“This place should have a solid 5 stars! Amaaaaazingly fresh fish (even in the winter), great prices, fabulous diversity in sake and Japanese whisky, knowledgeable servers, and brilliant outdoor patio. Shout out to Gabby, server extraordinaire, who goes the extra mile for customer service while being unpretentious and informative. She's been here through two owners and 10 years - this place treats their folks well, it seems! And - ummmm - can we talk about the heated bidet situation in the bathroom?! Love this place for quality, class, and convenience! Highly recommend reservations in peak season, but you won't regret the extra step to cut to the front of the verrrry long line! Keep up the good work, crew!“
“This place is so good. Slaps with flavor and I always leave recommending this place more and more! The chicken katsu sandwich is so delicious and the shishito pepper appetizer has to be one of my favorite snacks! The owners, Hana and Austin are amazing people and the food is always top notch quality!“
“Love this new location. This is my second time at Benkay and it was another great experience. We enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar and watching rolls be made while we enjoyed our delicious seaweed salads and edamame appetizers. While the nigiri and rolls were delicious, the Japanese ice cream sandwich was something new that I absolutely loved. The mochi ice cream was another great option, hot green tea can warm you up on a cold night, and a great selection of bar drinks can accommodate anyone's preferences. I loved that they offer specials completely different from their menu offerings as well. The service was friendly and the restaurant quiet and enjoyable.“
“We had lunch here. Food was great! The scallop small plate was well seasoned and delicious! Sushi was also good. The miso soup tasted a little interesting but good. They are open for dine-in but stated we had to order at the counter than eat at the table without waiter. I saw only one person working and we were only ones there. She was kind enough to come by and take our orders at the table.“
“First timer. Great menu selection. Great variety. The value is definitely there. We will be back for sure.Kid-friendliness: It's a family restaurant for sure. We saw kids of all ages while we were there. They have a great Hibachi area ?“
“Came here because many sushi places barely give you any fish for the price they charge. Tokyo corrects this by giving you large rolls for the price with an actual serving of FISH. Ramen was fantastic too! Wife had a cocktail that was also great and reasonably priced! I’ll continue coming if they continue their ways and don’t get greedy like many others.“
“My review somehow got deleted but these guys deserve the recognition. We popped in for some saké and ended up getting a little amuse bouche. What I loved is that when we came in and asked what kind of saké they had, the hostess did not hesitate to sit us down and show us.“
“This place is an absolute must go to restaurant in Portland. The atmosphere is very cozy, at least in the space and the lighting, but super hip. They play lots of dancey, fun music, which wasn’t deafening or obnoxious but just added to the great vibe. They have lots of great options, all smaller plates which makes it so much fun to share with whoever you’re with. We got the garlic edamame, bacon mochi, the cabbage pancake (I forget the official name, forgive me), and the udon. Every bite was perfect, and the service was awesome. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was super attentive despite being busy. The cocktail menu is also fantastic! Definitely worth trying at *least* one.“
