“Cannot go to bed tonight without writing this review first. Sat at the bar and service was impeccable. Bartender/waitstaff really knew the menu well. Ordered the trout, beet salad, and gnocchi all of which were flavorful and texturally perfect. For dessert, ordered the upside down carrot cake and pavlova. Ate every last bite even though we were already full. We will be coming back and bringing friends!“

“I can't remember my waiter but he was fantastic! I met Gordon (GM) who I told I had been there 3 times in the last handful of weeks and he showed us a lovely time. Eventually he introduced me to Jim Lutfy who let our party of 7 sample 4 desserts. Once again the pork chop and grits were amazing.“
“We came here for our anniversary and had a good experience. I loved the staycation cocktail, the calamari and the the sea scallops were the best I’ve ever had. Sadly the lamb appetizer was over cooked and the prime rib was chewy. Not great. It was also served with burnt hummus. Our waitress was good to me but seemed irritated with us that the steak wasn’t great. We won’t be rushing back any time soon. But we love Detroit and trying new restaurants.“
“Exceptional, one of my favorite places in the world.Already on the outside there is a 'wow effect'...but what about the inside? This place not only immerses us in a sumptuous era but also brings a special atmosphere. The service is exceptional. The prices are absolutely fair, and it's great.“
“My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and we were both absolutely blown away. Every course was incredible. The presentation was beautiful. Staff was attentive, helpful, and very friendly. This was an incredible elevated dining experience that will be remembered for a long time.“
“Oh.M.Gee....this place is amazing!! Really loved my dinner last night!! What did we have? BREAD & BUTTER 8 house sourdough, seasonal butter We started with the bread and butter. Their homemade sourdough bread was filled with all kinds of yummy grains and rivaled anything I had in Europe. It was served with cherry-jam butter, which was ok in my mind--I would have been perfectly happy with salted butter. TWICE COOKED EGG* 14 werp farms' greens, brussels sprout, salty cheese, warm shallot vinaigrette The egg atop this salad was really interesting...they took a poached egg and dipped it and fried it. The Brussels sprouts in this salad were super flavorful. I really enjoyed it. The rest of what we had was not on the website for me to grab descriptions and cost. We also had mushroom spring rolls, which were so flavorful! The tiny mushrooms in the spring rolls (not fried, my favorite kind!) were accompanied by many other fresh vegetables and had a delicious dipping sauce. We also had some broccolini and the pork chop. That pork chop was also super flavorful accompanied by collard greens, grits and cornbread. All of this food was so filling I had to take most of the pork chop dish home for today. The service was outstanding. My water glass never went below the halfway mark, and we never had need to pour wine from the bottle because Megan, our waitress, was ON IT!! While the interior of this place is loud, I didn't find myself shouting to be heard. The whole place is painted chartreuse, just like the name. We wrapped all of this up with 2 tastes of chartreuse...the green one was more herbaceous, leaning toward savory, and the yellow chartreuse was sweet. I liked the yellow best and my boyfriend preferred the green. I will highly recommend and plan to come back sometime. Yum-o!! Overall, I'd highly recommend“
“We had a great dinner experience. The many other reviews recommending the soft pretzel w/ beer cheese sauce are right on; it is one of the best pretzels ever. The burger with fries, and chicken wrap were good as well. The service was very friendly and speedy. We will definitely revisit!“
“My husband and I have dinner at Lumen at least every 4 to 5 weeks. Love the manager Rose and her staff Claire and Riley, to name a few. If we have a different wait staff taking care of us, these wonderful ladies will come over to our table to say hi.“
“This place was great. Probably the best meal I've had in a long time-service and food quality wise. Came to celebrate a birthday during a weeknight. Not too busy. A nice modern ambiance that still has some old styles to it including artwork. Open kitchen concept where you can see the prep work for your meal. Our table had the prime rib burgers and steak and frites. The burger was one of the best tasting burgers I have had in a long time and the steak was so tender!! Service was great, and although Olin has pricier items the portion sizes you get match the value. I would highly recommend this spot for date nights, double dates, post work drinks, and smaller celebrations!“
“Great visit on a recent trip. My wife and I visited three other local breweries and really enjoyed our stop here. The beer was very good! The fried calamari and grits was incredible! Our bartender was very friendly and inviting. Enjoyed our conversation during our stay. Will definitely come back again.“
“This will forever be my favorite spot in Detroit to splurge. Every time I go here I am amazed at the Chef's Choice preset menu. The cocktail and wine program is 12/10. Highly recommended.Vegetarian options: They ask about dietary restrictions when they greet you and all vegan and vegetarian dishes are clearly marked on the menuDietary restrictions: They ask about dietary restrictions when they greet you and all vegan and vegetarian dishes are clearly marked on the menuParking: Street parking only. Can get busy around 7pm“
“Last time I went, i was seated upstairs by the window and it was COLD!!!!. This time, I insisted on first floor. I recommend the same for everyone because first floor has so much better atmosphere than the upper floors. I am paying big hunk of what I pay for atmosphere. Brunch food was.... OK. I mean nothing screamed out UNTIL i got to the prime rib. It was one of the better prime ribs I ever had. 5 star plus for PR and 3 for the rest of the food, therefore 4 stars for food. With that said, I was satisfied and would return again. The food is only a part of overall dining experience. We have plenty of cookie cutter or ever worse chain restaurants. Therefore, I think it is important to patronize gem of restaurants like this.“
“Amazing customer service, food, entertainment and overall experience. I have yet to purchase something that I didn't enjoy. Not too many places have live entertainment anymore either so this is definitely a treasure.Parking: Ample parking in the back.“
“Great food, friendly staff and the perfect place to see a show! Very intimate setting and we love the history as well!Service would have been a 5 but we got the one server that seemed to go not want to be there and go MIA often. The bartender and hostess plus all other servers were 5 stars!“
“Tyler is a stellar bartender, extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was an absolute delight. The soft shell crab tacos are a great way to start your dining experience, don't forget a flight of their in house crafted beer or guest tap ciders. Perfect dinner date atmosphere. This is a Detroit must try!“
“Aptly named, Standby is still the best restaurant + cocktail bar in Detroit. Whenever I'm downtown, I'm hard pressed to choose to go elsewhere because I just honestly would prefer to be here. The cocktails are consistently spectacular, and the rotating food menu is always enticing and delicious. I also consistently receive exceptional service. Top this off with an immaculate vibe, and you've got the makings of, well, a standby. I've come with family to celebrate birthdays, with friends to toast to a promotion, with my husband for an intimate date night, and solo when I just wanted to treat myself. Because of the seasonal menu rotations, there is always something new and interesting to sip or bite. A constant cocktail on the menu that I highly recommend is called the Snake in the Grass. But the best cocktail I had here was called the Black Beretta and was made with clementine sherbet and black sesame - outstanding! I also love that they have a rotating "break-even bottle" - where you can get a taste of typically pricey pours of whiskey, tequila, etc. for just as much money as it costs for them to break even on the bottle.“
“Fantastic dinner experience. Lively, yet cozy atmosphere. Cocktails were incredible, especially if you enjoy trying new combinations of flavors (one drink even came with complimentary artwork). The brussels sprouts were worth crying over they were so good. The service was also fantastic.“
“I was on the fence about this place because of the motel it's connected to, but the food turned out to be really good.Only thing I would change is the coffee ( wasn't that good ) and the size of the coffee cup, other than that it's a 4 star.“
“Cute little relaxed environment; busy but people eat and leave. Staff was amazing and very knowledgeable of menu; avo toast was just ok, the bread was tough; the chicken was phenomenal! The baecation drink I really enjoyed(see menu for ingredients)“
“The Charlevoix continues to impress. The food choices are inspired and fun - try everything! Some things I never would have thought to try have been incredible (carrot tostadas have no business being this good). They also serve the best Ole Fashioned in town, and have Sea Quench on tap.Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options, including the tostadas and the smoked tofu sandwich (don't skip this, it's insanely good).Parking: Parking lot is right across the street at the intersection corner.“
“It’s a guy for security there. Ponytail with glasses, caramel skin! I was violated , lions lost and a guy who I was giving a fist pump too lifted my shirt up and this security overheard me and was ready to kick him out! All my friends were gone and this guy made me feel so safe and protected he was ready to GOOOOO! I’m forever grateful for him and told him it wasn’t necessary I won’t be back! But by all means he’s a gem! Thank you sir!“
“So this rating is for the desserts only. My Wife and I were at the DIA not that long ago and stopped at Kresge Court for a quick snack. The crème brûlée was phenomenal. As were the donut bites. It's a fun place to stop and rest for a bit while you're exploring the DIA“
“The food was fantastic, I had one of my favorite burgers ever, the service was great, and they are an inclusive restaurant according to the sign in the bathroom which I like. We had one of the nicest waiters I’ve ever had, he was very kind and relatable. Will go again if I am ever in town!Vegetarian options: I think there were a few vegetarian options but I can’t quite remember.Kid-friendliness: It’s loud but if your kid doesn’t mind that it’s fine.“
“Parking here sucks but the coffee and pastries are very good. There are tons of vegan options for drinks and a good amount for food. There's a small sitting area in the back, and the line can end up filling the seating area. If you want to sit and chill, I'd go to another red hook location. All of the other ones have more seating. This one, though, has the best vibes tbh. Make sure you get whatever food you order warmed up it makes it 10 times better.Dietary restrictions: They have all the vegan milk options and vegan quick bites“
“Some dishes are hit and miss. Didn't like the Ravioli or Smelt but loved the 2 piece Cod and Turkey Dinner. Hard to beat the value as they give you a ton of food, and cooked fresh. Been going a lot the last 6 months, and the service is on point.“
“Barcade remains an absolute blast, especially when I'm hanging out with my 30-something-year-old son and his friends. There's an abundance of entertaining games for everyone, ensuring a lively atmosphere throughout. For beer enthusiasts, it's akin to stumbling upon a hoppy paradise; the bar selection is simply outstanding. While they do offer food, our primary focus was on indulging in games, drinks, and, of course, catching the college basketball finals on TV. Don't forget to have your ID handy as everyone gets carded – a testament to their commitment to a safe and enjoyable environment.I wholeheartedly endorse this venue, particularly for those aged 25 to 35 who will revel in the diverse array of games on offer. From pinball to high-speed driving simulators to classic Ms. Pac-Man, there's something here to satisfy every gaming taste bud and keep the fun going all night long.“
“Listen guys! I’m speaking to my Detroit natives and my tourists.. this place is the place to BE! Yesterday I visited this establishment and I had ‘what I thought’ was the best experience but after returning for seconds the VERY NEXT DAY… I’d have to say that each time I visit the experience gets better and better. I absolutely love this place. Not only because it’s black owned but because they stand on straight business. The food was exceptional And you can tell that they take pride in providing quality service. I order the pasta 10/10, the sweet & spicy shrimp 10/10 & the chicken sandwich 10/10.. no exaggeration.. yeah so check them out“
“Spent family Thanksgiving here with a terrific view of the parade. Our time will go down as the most memorable Thanksgiving ever with our families. The staff was exceptionally warm and attentive, from the door guy, hostesses, and waitress. I have to especially give personal recognition to Sara (purplish highlights) our server who was not only warm, kind, sweet, engaging and caring throughout our 4hrs. She was also quick, attentive, accommodating, and surprisingly for as busy as it was, she was there anytime my family needed something. The experience was so amazing that I’m not sure if I’ll do it next year as the “bar” was set so high that I’m not sure if it’s achievable again, as in a great compliment . Thank you Union Assembly staff for your exceptional service on a holiday, I do appreciate it knowing work was early and dealing with parade route traffic/blockages and yet you all still provided warmth and hospitality.“
“A great midtown location convenient to downtown venues as well as Fisher Theatre, etc...Started with the seasonal mule, cucumber. A crisp open with floral finish makes this an excellent summer choice. Next, a Mozz Pizza. Thin crust artesian style, think Neopolitanish. Then the Pulled Beef sandwich with fries. Preparation was traditional with just the right amount of pickles, but could have used a bit more bbq sauce. The sandwich paired well with the Bees Knees draft. A slightly hoppy open with a hint of berry sweetness. A Bell's Oberon feel with berry in place of citrus. Finally, Chris was an attentive server that was kind and courteous. A recommended spot with a great ambiance and adequate menu.“
“Have come here a few times since moving to Detroit. It's in a very old mostly abandoned industrial part of the city along the Detroit River, made better by nice new development nearby, adjoining a portion of the beautiful Detroit River Walk, and on a strip near the Atwater Grill with other businesses. Very nostalgic looking business whose interior including bathrooms have certainly seen better days, but made comfortable by the nice wait staff and VERY HOSPITABLE owner who is most always available and a pleasure to chat with. Generally speaking the food here is very good. I'd call this a must visit little foray into old Detroit, where you can get a nice meal and drinks well off the beaten path. I like it.“
“Tuesdays are $1.50 coney island hotdogs. I ordered but the toppings of chilli mustard diced onion was REALLY what I paid for. Today I spoke to one of the delightful (and Gorgeous!) waitresses and told her I hoped to have EXTRA not OVER the top onions and mustard and what I got were THE BEST CONEYS!!! I paid a small UPCHARGE but boy was it worth every penny! Way to go Antonio's Coney Island STILL with the best Coney AROUND“
“Though the outside is unassuming, the food here is absolutely delicious. You would never know that you could find some of the best American food in metro Detroit in a strip mall in Eastpointe. The spicy cheese curds are a must, and this place is known for having great wings. They also grill a mean burger. The bartender was super friendly, even offering us free candy while we waited for our order. We will definitely be back!“
“The Chicken Greek Salad was fresh and crisp! Very Generous with the Feta cheese and the Chicken Breast was seasoned and grilled to Perfection! I enjoyed the Garbanzo beans and the freshly cut Cucumbers! Their prices are very reasonable compared to EVERY OTHER OPTION…including McDonald’s these days with the Skyrocketing Inflation RateThe server was attentive and friendly! The server asked if I would mind waiting while she brewed a fresh pot of coffee for me.The restrooms were immaculate and pleasant to use! I dine out often and the amount of effort and care that the operators are rendering is impressive!Keep up the great service“
“Stumbled upon this place while working in the area. Stopped in and gave it a try. Besides the spring roll and the pork skewer, I wasn't really sure what I got. All I can say is it was all very delicious. They gave me a serving of the soup for free. I think I was a ginger soup and that was super tasty. The dish that came with rice kind of had a resemblance of chili or a stew, but it was really good. I believe it had Chicken in it. I would go back there again.“
“Always a great time! If you’re sitting at tables Brittany is one of the best! Alexis and James behind the bar are outstanding as well! Food is always good, drinks are great, service is top tier. Doesn’t get much better than a night at Johnnys!“
“Good, though for us was not up to the reputation. Best part was ambiance - lovely. Our server was super nice. Cocktails were a hit. Main food was good. Slightly small portions than expected. Dessert was a definite disappointment. Avoid the pineapple cake. Like really avoid it.“
“Jumps is an excellent restraunt, and I highly recommend breakfast and lunch. I would recommend dinner as well, but unfortunately, they are not open. The rumor is that they will start dinners again in the near future. The Cheff Chet is exceptional and makes some very unique and amazing meals. Not your everyday bacon and eggs.“
“Great food for GP, which, for a community of wealth, has a dearth of good eateries. Fish and chips I had were nice and not greasy, fries on point. I'm glad that they had Pacific beer, it's a great beer with low alcohol content.Took awhile for the bartender to come around a couple of times, especially for a slow afternoon, so we didn't get to order as soon as would have liked, although maybe he thought we were just engaged in a conversation and didn't want to interrupt.Atmosphere here was kinda tired when they opened awhile back. Now it's exhausted and could really use something, ANYTHING, to make it inviting. I've seen better decoration in a trailer park. That said, I would rather go there for food and friends than anywhere else in the area.“
“Everything was wonderful! The view of the city & fountain by the windows was beautiful and the food was amazing. Our server Dorian was integral to facilitating one of the best dinners I’ve had on the day of mine & my partners’ anniversary, with a wonderful dessert brought out to celebrate. What a memorable occasion, thank you Dorian!“
“We went for Sunday breakfast & to my surprise, it wasn't as busy as I expected for a Sunday morning. The food was alright- standard, casual American fare, nothing extraordinary. Nonetheless, it was tasty & our waitress Rosa delivered great service. Oh, and despite its unassuming exterior, the interior of the place is quite charming!!“
“We tried Empire 4 years ago for Valentines and it is now a regular spot. The wings are our favorite but every item on the menu has amazing flavor and very satisfying. The shishito peppers, crispy potatoes and Empire Burger along with their chichen sandwich are our regular go tos... The bartenders are always friendly and attentive and make great cocktails.“
“11:30 a.m. on a Tuesday and the parking lot (front & side, at least) are full but the overflow has space. All the look of a 50's style diner, right down to the music which was loud enough to hear but quiet enough to talk (i.e., perfect volume). OK, the ladies aren't wearing poodle skirts but they were a bit sexist. The server greeted me quickly but seemed a bit overwhelmed as she was the only one working the floor at the time. Understandable considering the number of diners to deal with at the time. She was pleasant despite the workload and checked in several times after my meal arrived. All the accouterments one expects at a diner right down to the creamer and jam.Menu is pretty broad, especially where sandwiches are concerned. Fish sandwiches, gyros, burgers, hot dogs (Coney, plain, etc.), melts. A fairly substantial breakfast section and salads & soups round it out well.I went with the Classic burger & fries. The burger is huge & the amount of fries is substantial. I ordered the burger medium but it came medium-well. It wasn't juicy like it should've been but was flavorful still.Next time I'll sit at the counter (missed that on the way in). There's a drive-thru in case you want to "grab and go", too.An FYI: if you pay by plastic, you will pay the credit card charge. I don't mind, but I was unaware.I'd definitely return.Parking: Parking near building is tight, about 12 spaces, but there is overflow.Kid-friendliness: It's a diner, it's friendly to the wee onesWheelchair accessibility: The doors are sensor activated & wide. There's ample room for maneuvering inside, too. Sidewalk around seems a bit narrow (but I'm not in a chair)“
“Absolutely love this location, a hidden gem if ever there were one. 6 outlets, hotel, spa, events center, craft cocktail bar, cigar bar, & restaurant. All outlets can be used by anyone, you don’t have to be a member. The staff is so great and helpful, and the building is GORGEOUS! Definitely recommend!“
“This beautiful corner spot is easily one of my newest favorites in Detroit. The decor is comfortable and vibrant with an amazing menu and plenty of caviar. I suggest the Wagyu shared plate. Classy was sensational, upbeat, friendly and guided us through the menu flawlessly.“
“It's not often I leave a 5/5 review. Although I haven't tried everything on the menu, I had the Slam Dunk sandwich, and it surely didn't disappoint. The roast beef was tender and extremely juicy, not too fatty, and the sautéed onions and havarti cheese added just enough flavor, but not too much to overpower the roast beef and roasted hogie bun. Fries are superb ? well done guys! I'll be back“
“Food is great here. I'm not the biggest chicken eater but I go here just for their wings. Half of the hype is the sauce, it's great! The mood of the restaurant is very mixed. You can sit at tables and chill with your group or sit at the bar and have fun with total strangers. A few tvs will even have the game on if you want to watch. The staff are usually always attentive. The only con is that you will get annoyed by the occasional gnat as with lots of bars.“
