“Our family recently made reservations at Jakes for both Easter and Mother's Day. The owner called and confirmed our resevations both times. This was an effort to go above and beyond with regard to customer service. The food was delectable. “This was my first visit to this Saginaw restaurant. Though busy, the wait time was relatively short. The host was kind, the waitress was friendly, as well as the rest of the staff my dining partner and I encountered. The music was too loud for conversation though not unpleasant, and the overall decor created a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. The rolls with the cinnamon butter were delightful and our deep fried pickle appetizer was excellent. There was an issue with my chosen entrée, however. Not only were the beef tips swimming in a greasy, separating sauce, there was also an odd taste to the dish. Initially I contributed it to the potatoes and had my partner try them; however, through a quick elimination process by both of us, it was clear the strange taste was with the brown sauce. Remarkably, at the end of our tasting, the manager had approached to ask about our meals and her timing could not have been more perfect. I shared my concerns about the sauce and she was genuinely concerned, suggesting a viable solution to which I readily agreed: a cream gravy on the side and the beef tips presented without the brown sauce. Woo-hoo! Issue resolved. Or so I thought. She took the plate away yet shortly returned to tell me the “chef” had insisted the sauce was freshly made that morning and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I had already dismissed the issue concluding that my palette simply didn’t agree with the sauce. It happens. In fact, I can’t recall ever sending a dish back to the kitchen. It was clear, however, that I had must have angered the cook as the manager’s return visit to our table and her strong comments served no other purpose except to convey his frustration with my opinion. When my modified entrée arrived, my misgivings were confirmed. Oddly there was corn and sautéed onions mixed into my strangely presented mashed potatoes though I had not ordered any corn with my initial meal. Nor were there any onions present in my potatoes before. The flavor and presentation of the beef tips was clearly off. I was extremely put off by this yet kept silent when asked, and politely requested a box for my “leftovers.” Instinctively it felt like the equivalent of an angered, overly sensitive employee spitting in your food, and there was no way I was going to eat this dish. Both the manager and our waitress were overly apologetic about the “issue” and interrupted our conversation several times to say so. Each time I assured them it was not a big deal at all. In the end it proved to be an unpleasant, unnecessarily overblown dining experience, and I don’t see myself returning or recommending this restaurant to others. It’s sad, really, as I did enjoy the majority of my visit and would have liked to try their other menu items. My trust level, however, is broken with this particular kitchen staff. The lack of professionalism in our society, especially when it comes to food, simply cannot be ignored. My dining partner, however, thoroughly enjoyed his meal. It is one of his family’s favorite dining spots. As I was there by his generous invitation and would never appear rude, it was ridiculous that he felt the need to apologize to me for what was obviously a negative consequence of an egotistical, overreacting cook. Most will enjoy this restaurant; however, be wary of sending anything disagreeable back to the kitchen.”

“My previous experience at Applebee's on Tittabawasses in Saginaw, wasn’t pleasant, as I encountered poor customer service and received unsatisfactory food. I reached out to the restaurant corporate to make them aware of the issue, not seeking any compensation. However, Applebee's did send me a gift card as an apology. Today, while handling some business on State Street, I decided to give Applebee's another chance. I sat at the bar and ordered the same dish, chicken Alfredo. To my surprise, it was delicious and my server, Jo Etta, provided exceptional customer service. This experience has restored my faith in Applebee's.

“This place was wonderful! It was my first time going to a hibachi restaurant and I was very excited. They did not disappoint! Every single person I encountered was pleasant. They aim to please, that is apparent. It was so refreshing to get good quality food and service with a little entertainment here and there. We also left with enough food to be mistaken for take out while walking out. So many leftovers! Easily my favorite restaurant now. Also, there were 5 patrons with birthdays while we were there. They come out banging on drums for each and every one. I’m sensitive to loud noises so the whole experience definitely took some getting used to. But overall it was an immersive experience that I enjoyed. They did what they do very well in all areas of the restaurant. The hostess and servers were efficient, polite, and it really was the best service I’ve seen in a long time.”

“Went there for team lunch with co-workers. I am usually not a huge fan of Mexican restaurants, but I was along for the ride. I am glad I went. Food was fresh and cooked well (why I generally dislike Mexican restaurants), staff was friendly, and had no problems working with our large table or my dietary allergy. “Stopped in today for lunch. I ordered the Green Curry with chicken and an iced Thai coffee. The service was was quick and friendly. The coffee was rich and refreshing. The Green Curry was excellent. The vegetables were crisp, fresh and the flavor was spot on. I ordered it “hot” and although quite good, I think it was more “American” hot than traditional hot. Next time I’ll get it extra hot. Lol Still a small, quiet and relaxing place to go like it was during the Jade Garden days. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend.”

The wings were so good I didn’t even get a picture—they disappeared that fast! 🍗🔥 The beer list was solid, with several local taps and even a DC prohibition-style lager brewed crafted just for them. Great food, great drinks, and a spot worth coming back to and checking out if you have been!”

“We have been eating at Coty’s for at least 20 years. We would buy a pizza for take out every other week. Unfortunately, that is ending today. I noticed that I have been paying a service fee of .37 cents which is rolled into the tax which started on 1/1/2025. We understand prices go up, but if you do take out you have to pay the service fee. Well that’s the price of having a business. Don’t charge me extra for using your take out option. So do I have to pay the service fee if I have left overs and need a box? Or do I need to bring my own container?”

The only thing that I want to mention as I felt it confused those of us in the lobby space is there was only one person doing everything, seating, taking orders, ringing up checks. There really should have been maybe someone at the counter. Otherwise, another great meal from the Hunan in Saginaw!”

Every conversation you partake in, you will mention the yummy teriyaki double meat double sauce over white rice meal, and you will not be able to stop. You cannot escape the aromas, textures, and mind boggling tastes of Yummy Japan, and you will not want to. Yummy Japan is your god now.”

“Great Local’s sports bar. Some people could view this as a dive bar but it’s definitely a Local‘s sports bar first impression walking in the front door…My girlfriend looked at me and said it is very bright in here(as in the lights were very bright).The bartender was very cool, on his game and you could tell that the local folks are very friendly. The old man next to us realize we are from out of town, and suggested the Scottish inn as well and told us we would very much enjoy that Tavern. I recommend anybody that was going through town to stop here. We didn’t eat just had a couple drinks and left but we enjoyed ourselves. There’s no shortage of televisions or space if you wanna watch a game..”

“Yesterday was my 3rd visit, I've now had the #3 in several sizes, tasty each time. Very full and filling. The person who suggested I eat here compliments the bread, saying it's his favorite bread. I haven't experienced being shorted on napkins. The layout is convenient and appealing. They play good music here.”
