“Welcome to Phil's - where the drinks flow like gossip at a PTA meeting and the flavors dance on your palate like a drunken ballerina. Let's talk about the real star of the show: the Bloody Marys. These aren't just drinks; they're like Picasso paintings for your taste buds, leaving you wondering if you should sip it or hang it in a museum. Now, onto the grub. Brace yourself because Phil's burger is about to give your taste buds a thrill ride they'll never forget. It's the reigning champ in town, although I'd suggest swapping that Ciabatta bun for something softer - unless you enjoy feeling like you're wrestling with your lunch. But it's not just about the burger - Phil's has comfort food down to a science. The ham and cheese plate is like a warm hug from Grandma, if Grandma was a culinary wizard. And let's not forget the specials - the slow-cooked beef barbacoa tostadas were a flavor explosion that left us begging for more like Oliver Twist in a foodie twist. And let's give a round of applause to the waitresses who bust their buns to make sure you leave with a smile. Their charm and hustle don't go unnoticed, and as a bonus, you get some animal crackers at the end - because who says adults can't indulge in a little nostalgia with their dessert? Phil's isn't just a restaurant; it's a gastronomic adventure filled with flavor, friendly faces, and a sprinkle of whimsy.“
“I have been visiting Saugatuck a couple times year and trying new restaurants along the way. I will say that the Grill Room Restaurant at the Clearbrook Golf Club provides a member's only experience. The restaurant is open to the public and is off the touristy beaten path of downtown Saugatuck. Mind you, its a rainy night in March, definitely not peak tourist time. So, The Grill Room may be busy too during the summer. I sat in a private, warmly lit booth overlooking beautifully lit terrain outside. The design of what looks to be a historical building, has several corners/wings of tables, one with a huge fireplace. Other tables /booths face the golf course or outside terrain. Anyone who visits Saugatuck plans on eating at their favorite spots and finding new restaurants to explore. So, its highly possible that one may enter a restaurant having indulged on great food the night before. This would be me. The interesting thing about the Grill Room restaurant is that it has snacks, light eats/dishes, homemade personal pizza, burgers, and nice size portioned entrees ( I would find out). I started with a glass of Da Luca Prosecco, which was a perfect with a hint raspberry sweetness. I was contemplating Steak Diane, meatloaf, or pizza. My server, Serena, helped me decide. My mom always told me never to get meatloaf at a restaurant because you never know what's in it or what it will taste like. This advice proved to be correct in most venues. However, my decision to get meatloaf at the Grill Room Restaurant proved to be the right one. Before getting the meatloaf, I ordered a salad that came with the entree. I opted for the house made Ceasar dressing. The salad was a sizable portion of fresh, crisp greens, carrots, and onions and the Ceasar dressing was delicious. The meatloaf was a generous portion as well along with brown gravy, homemade mashed potatoes, and pan friend spinach, broccoli, and onions. The meatloaf was a blend of beef and pork with the typical spices used in meatloaf. The mash potatoes and pan-fried veggies were cooked perfectly. The meatloaf, veggies, and mashed potatoes (especially with the gravy) were delicious. I felt guilty not eating everything on my plate, an unspoken rule of my Italian mom. For dessert, I had a cup of decaf and a "petite" portion of espresso creme brulee. The coffee was fine. The espresso creme brulee was, indeed, petite. It was just enough and tasty. I asked Serena how the chef was able to carmelize the sugar on top in such a small ramekin. An answer she did not have. I highly recommend the Grill House Restaurant at the Clearbrook Golf Club in Saugatuck MI. If you find yourself in the Grill House, request Serena. She was patiently present to my sharing experiences of being a server in a member's only club in downtown Chicago on top of the Prudential Building, which closed years ago.“
“We were here in 2021 & couldn’t wait to go back. Unfortunately when we did, it didn’t live up to our expectations. The service was great, but the food was average. I was really excited to see the Grouper Reuben back on the menu, but there was more batter than fish on it. The first time I got it, it was amazing, but I was really disappointed this time. Also, the Island Grouper platter was laughable - the fish was so small. On the plus side, the fish tacos, jalapeño poppers, & chicken egg rolls were good!“
“We have visited several area restaurants, this by far was the best service experience we have had. We ate at the bar and this bartender here was just fantastic! And the cream of Squash soup ..i could eat it everyday, just awesome. Nice people!“
“Great leap day at Wiks Park. Listened along to trivia while enjoying pizza and a drink. Thanks for having us.Happy pop-up winterParking: Summer can be hard. Look up Saugatuck city in Google to find more parking. Availability one weekday afternoons better.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes!“
“Food was delicious. I love my custom made mushroom, Swiss burger they make for me. Have been going to The Butler since 1979 every summer and spring. The waitstaff is accommodating and friendly. The Butler has always been my go-to restaurant in Saugatuck! They always make me feel at home.“
“Great little place in Saugatuck! I've been here a few times. The food and drinks have been pretty good every time I have eaten there. Nice bar vibe. Can be a bit loud at times. I've had a bit of wait during peak times in the summer; but it's a nice spot to meet friends, grab a drink, eat some decent food, and enjoy the town!“
“Coral Gables is so much fun.We went as a small group of 8 to Saturday comedy club night everyone had a great time.We would defiantly revisit Coral GablesVegetarian options: All Vegetarians eat. Differently and accept different foods on their Vegetarian list So it is clearly up to that person to ask question about the food and order accordingly.“
“First time here, and the food was delicious. The chicken came out quickly, so quickly, I was concerned it would be dry from sitting around. Instead, it was juicy, succulent, and perfectly seasoned (not too salty). Shared sides of grits, greens, coleslaw, and delicious pickles. Mac and cheese was good, but not $18 good. I prefer my grits a bit finer and creamer, but still ended up scraping the bowl! View of the river was lovely and am sure would be wonderful to sit outside on a warmer day. Would love to make this place part of a regular dining rotation, but thought it was a bit pricey even by today's standard.“
