“First time here, and the food was delicious. The chicken came out quickly, so quickly, I was concerned it would be dry from sitting around. Instead, it was juicy, succulent, and perfectly seasoned (not too salty). Shared sides of grits, greens, coleslaw, and delicious pickles. Mac and cheese was good, but not $18 good. I prefer my grits a bit finer and creamer, but still ended up scraping the bowl! View of the river was lovely and am sure would be wonderful to sit outside on a warmer day. Would love to make this place part of a regular dining rotation, but thought it was a bit pricey even by today's standard.“

“The vegan options are amazing! Came here two days in a row of that tells you anything. ? We got the cheesy vegan breadsticks (I recommend asking for light in the cheese), the giant pretzel with a side of vegan ranch. And for our pizza we got the vegan pepperoni and sausage, plus banana peppers and spinach. Divine! And the best part is the very fun and friendly staff. Highly recommend.“

New Holland Spirits - Saugatuck Tasting Room Distilleries • $$$

“Fun little spot for great drinks. Super nice bartender, Brie, who remembered our names and made great conversation. She even helped us decide where to go to dinner ( Lady Bird was a great call for vegetarians). The Dragon’s Milk Old Fashioned was delish. Brie was very knowledgeable and talked to us a lot about the drinks. Biggest complaint- there needs to be some food! I can’t sit and drink cocktails on an empty stomach! We would have stayed longer if there had been anything to eat besides potato chips. I know food is not the focus- but when you have people in their 40s who want to enjoy some drinks, we can’t do that for very long without food. Some basics like pretzels with mustard or hummus or tortilla chips or nuts would have been welcome. Also, on a nice day, the ambiance is a little lacking- moving seating towards the front might be a little more inviting. We did sit at the bar which was great.“

“Welcome to Phil's - where the drinks flow like gossip at a PTA meeting and the flavors dance on your palate like a drunken ballerina. Let's talk about the real star of the show: the Bloody Marys. These aren't just drinks; they're like Picasso paintings for your taste buds, leaving you wondering if you should sip it or hang it in a museum. Now, onto the grub. Brace yourself because Phil's burger is about to give your taste buds a thrill ride they'll never forget. It's the reigning champ in town, although I'd suggest swapping that Ciabatta bun for something softer - unless you enjoy feeling like you're wrestling with your lunch. But it's not just about the burger - Phil's has comfort food down to a science. The ham and cheese plate is like a warm hug from Grandma, if Grandma was a culinary wizard. And let's not forget the specials - the slow-cooked beef barbacoa tostadas were a flavor explosion that left us begging for more like Oliver Twist in a foodie twist. And let's give a round of applause to the waitresses who bust their buns to make sure you leave with a smile. Their charm and hustle don't go unnoticed, and as a bonus, you get some animal crackers at the end - because who says adults can't indulge in a little nostalgia with their dessert? Phil's isn't just a restaurant; it's a gastronomic adventure filled with flavor, friendly faces, and a sprinkle of whimsy.“

“The atmosphere is amazing. The staff is so friendly and the owner / chef is incredibly attentive. The chef puts a lot of thought and effort into her menu and it’s always spot on delicious. The kitchen is TINY so don’t expect an “off menu” here. Check the menu before you come. The pastries are the best in SW Michigan. The cocktails are perfect.Try to sit outside if you can—the outdoor space is so relaxing and pretty. The inside is cute, but a bit tight. If there’s any constructive feedback; it’s a bit hard to know which door I’m supposed to go in / where I’m supposed to go. It can feel like you’re walking into a staff area.Overall you have to stop here if you’re in the area. It’s definitely something special.“

I ordered the cheese bread and the pepperoni pizza. WOW such great food oh, and my husband got the Italian roast beef sandwich which was just as amazing! “Great little place in Saugatuck! I've been here a few times. The food and drinks have been pretty good every time I have eaten there. Nice bar vibe. Can be a bit loud at times. I've had a bit of wait during peak times in the summer; but it's a nice spot to meet friends, grab a drink, eat some decent food, and enjoy the town!“
