“Visiting this restaurant for the 1st time during their 1 year anniversary was a nice combination. Their free sampler plate (Mac-n-cheese, cauliflower wings, meatless meatloaf, jackfruit barbecue and chicken fried shrooms) was a perfect way to try their awesome menu. Everything was flavorful with a nice texture. Also, I enjoyed their delicious berry smoothie sweetened with dates. Topping everything off with their desserts, Moscato cakes (plain and Blueberry) and sweet potato pie, was a must.“

“Our first time in an Ethiopian restaurant, so much so that we asked for cutlery so we could eat, without knowing that by tradition, we eat with our hands. Excellent service, even more excellent seasoning, we will definitely return and the prices are more than fair for an excellent product.Parking: Parking is shared, since the restaurant is located in a small shopping center.“

“Tipsy Burro has really good Tex-Mex food, but it is not a place to stop for quick bite to eat.First, the complaints about service: We visited Tipsy Burro on a Friday night at around 5pm because we had a 6pm appointment less than a mile away. Seems like a reasonable ask, to order food and eat within about an hour. But it was not to be, as we had to rush our way out of Tipsy Burro. Our 12 year-old ordered an appetizer and meal at the same time. The appetizer arrived in good time. After 10 minutes, my wife and I ordered our meals. But I did I have to go up to the bar to request a waiter after about 10 minutes because no one came to check on us. My wife and kid's platters arrived at the same time (a decent time after our appetizer arrived). My meal still took another 10 minutes to arrive after that (basically, my kid was done eating before my food arrived). The staff apologized for the delay in my food, which I appreciated, but I only ordered a salad, so I didn't understand the hold up. We asked for the bill when food arrived, and we did receive it in timely fashion. Unfortunately, my wife had to flag down someone on the staff to pay our bill because after several minutes, no one came to check on us. She literally stood in the middle of the dining floor trying to get someone's attention for several minutes before someone took her credit card. This might not have been a major issue for us if we didn't have something scheduled up the road. But we did and we tried to make it clear and it didn't seem to matter. All that being said, let's get to second: the praise about the food! Holy moly is this place tasty. Our 12 year-old is a very slow eater. But their rice & bean tacos were so tasty that they finished eating before my food arrived. We have never seen that before. Technically our kid ordered a guacamole taco, but there was no guacamole on it. We didn't get charged extra, so no harm, no foul. I ordered a spinach salad and I chose the soy crumbles as the protein. The salad was wonderful! Spinach was fresh. Orange slices were peeled perfectly with no pith or bitterness. The bacon pieces were a great surprise, as they were unexpected by me and also cooked ideally (not too crispy). The avocado ranch dressing I got on the side was really tasty and wonderful for dipping crumbles into. I cannot say enough good things about this salad! My wife loved her meal as well, although I can't remember what she got because I was so focused on my delicious plate in front of me. I know she had something with refried beans while our kid's tacos came with black beans. Both of them were happy with their bean choices. As far as atmosphere is considered, the restaurant and bar are decorated pretty kitschy. Such an eclectic collection of posters and antique signage and Simpsons toys. All three of us couldn't stop looking at all the unique sights. One of our favorite things was watching the TV at the bar - they were playing old 1970's episodes of the Gong Show. The only downside was what was on our table - a lack of napkins (which were eventually delivered to us as a roll of paper towels, but only after us asking) and silverware (which were disappointedly delivered as plasticware when our food arrived). The food was amazing and felt authentic and we will be back to this place, even with our challenging service experience. That's how good the meal was.Vegetarian options: They didn't seem to have a kid's menu, but our 12 year-old pescatarian found plenty on the menu to choose from.Parking: The parking lot is huge and is only for Tipsy Burro - you shouldn't have any issues parking.Kid-friendliness: They didn't seem to have a kid's menu, but our 12 year-old pescatarian found plenty on the menu to choose from.“

“A Gastronomic Odyssey at Velvet Taco: Where Time Stands Still and Tacos Take FlightStepping into Velvet Taco is akin to entering a parallel universe where the traditional taco time continuum is warped into a deliciously unrecognizable dimension. Upon my grand entrance, the herald of culinary adventures, a spirited lady, proclaimed it was "Taco Time" in my honor, causing a ripple of anticipation that could be felt through the fabric of the universe. Or maybe that was just my stomach growling. My foray into their menu was no less than a heroic saga, embarking on a quest with the chicken and waffles taco as my steed and the brisket hamburger taco as my lance. These aren't your abuela's tacos; these are tacos that have seen the edge of the universe and laughed. The chicken and waffle taco was a juxtaposition of flavors so profound, it made me ponder the very nature of breakfast. Meanwhile, the brisket hamburger taco was a paradox wrapped in a flour tortilla, challenging my preconceived notions of what a taco — nay, what food itself — could be.Velvet Taco’s menu is so unique, I'm half-convinced it was conceived in a fever dream by a chef who, in a stroke of genius, decided to throw culinary convention to the wind. It’s like they're serving up dishes from a parallel universe where the taco is the pinnacle of innovation. There was a moment of existential crisis mid-bite into the brisket hamburger taco where I questioned everything. Should I have gone with a "normal" taco? But then, what is "normal" in a world that offers such transcendent taco experiences? The audacity of Velvet Taco to challenge my taste buds in such a manner was both outrageous and exhilarating. In conclusion, Velvet Taco is not just a restaurant; it's a mind-altering journey through the outer realms of flavor and texture. It’s where you go to challenge the very essence of your gastronomic soul, and perhaps, find yourself in the process. If you're tired of mundane eating experiences and yearn for something truly unique, Velvet Taco is your culinary Shangri-La. Five stars for the tacos that dared to dream, and another five for making me believe in magic again.“

“Candidly I was hungry when I bought this pizza. We had spent the whole day at Carowinds and we were hungry. Having said that this pizza was a perfect fix for what we needed and wanted.I love the restaurant itself thought the sign was not lit and we struggled with finding it in the corner of the little complex it sits in. Inside it’s as you would expect from an independently owned pizza joint. Lots of character and a bar. Wolfman and werewolf movie posters adorn this place and it’s awesome. The menu is great extensive with 15+ pizza pie selections and other choices. We went with the 16” Big Bad Wolf (8 slices) and the as perfect for us. The ingredients were plentiful, super fresh, and crunchy. Crust was perfect as well, not too soft and not too crispy (I like a slice I can fold).Maybe it was due to the amount of ingredients but my only critique would be on the sauce. Maybe it was good, maybe it wasn’t I couldn’t tell cause I couldn’t taste it.At the End of the Day, The staff was super friendly and personable. Offering us water as we waited and asking what they could do to help afterwards. They had some TVs over the bar that helped with the wait. The place was a cool and friendly vibe and the pizza was fresh and what I would want from a local pizza shop. I could see myself being a regular if I lived in Charlotte.“
