“Mustafa's Place offers a delightful and unique dining experience in Spencer, NC. Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior (formerly a gas station!), the friendly staff and delicious Turkish-American cuisine will have you wanting to return for more. The atmosphere at Mustafa's Place is undeniably casual. But what it lacks in formality, it makes up for in warmth. The mosaic-topped tables add a touch of charm, and the friendly conversation with the staff made us feel right at home.We opted for the lamb and chicken kebap platters, and both were excellent. The marinated meat was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying rice, Turkish salad, and even the fries were all fresh and flavorful. The portions were incredibly generous. We also tried the stuffed grape leaves and baklava, and both were delicious additions to our meal. The two men working at the restaurant, who I believe included Mustafa himself, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They took the time to chat with us about their home country and made us feel like valued guests.Overall, Mustafa's Place is a hidden gem in Spencer. It offers delicious and authentic Turkish cuisine in a casual and welcoming atmosphere. The generous portions and friendly service make it a great value.”

“My husband is not a BBQ fan, and I love BBQ, so finding a place where we can both be happy is difficult. He ate here for the first time this past week and was raving about it being his new favorite place to eat. He had the brisket. The burnt ends, mac and cheese, and broccoli salad were all soooo good!!! We live in Statesville but will happily make the drive.”

“Me and my family stopped by for a earlier lunch. The smells ourside made your mouth water. As we entered the restaurant to dine the young lady behind the counter welcomed us in and was knowledgeable of the delicious entrees and specials. As we read the menu, I had a hard time determining what I wanted. So we chose to get a little bit of everything (the special is Ox tails and gravy over rice) so you know I had to get those. We also chose fried and barbecued chicken, mac n cheese, fried okra, collard greens and yams. My God!! Everything was superb! Hot, fresh, full of flavor and the service and atmosphere was like comforting (like being a your grandmother's or favorite family members house like a family reunion). All I can say Lexington has a jewel and if you haven't tried this place you are missing out big time!! As we were leaving the manager/owner asked how was everything? Delicious!!! I'll be back for the baked spaghetti...”

“Just a little restaurant in downtown Lexington, but it has some of the most authentic food you will ever eat. This is the real deal, folks. This is where many Hispanics go to eat, which is what I look for in a restaurant. If a specific ethnic group appreciates the food from their heritage, that's what I want!It has a condensed, popular menu on the wall and a more broad and detailed menu on the counter.I have not eaten anything here that I did not like. Granted, I have not been through the complete menu but I'm working on it.It's just real authentic food. It's filling and just... awesome! Give it a try and let me know what you think. I bet you'll love it too.Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant entrance is at ground level, so, easy accessibility for wheelchairs.”

“Unbelievably great food that is worthy of eating here daily! Staff and owners are very attentive. We were greeted immediately with our drink request. The food was served quickly and was piping hot.I’ve eaten here 4 times and will return many more….PS. The sides are to die for. Make sure you get the sweet potatoes and mac n cheese and fried okra and green beans and… Oh…. Just try them all!Vegetarian options: So many sides to chose from!Parking: Side and back lot parking is preferable. Street parking is difficult for all of Lexington.Kid-friendliness: Menu items are well liked by children. Atmosphere is fun and friendly. Owners love children!”
“Today, I had the pleasure of meeting up with a dear friend, and together, we decided to visit the Children's Vineyards for a delightful brunch and a fun girls' day out. We savored the trifecta brunch alongside diverse wine tastings. Later, we basked in the ambiance of live music on the terrace while indulging in more wine tastings. With great conversations, lovely music, and perfect weather, our day couldn't have been any better. The vineyards provided an unforgettable experience, and I'm already looking forward to returning for more enjoyment.”

“Funky little place in downtown Lexington. You place your order at counter, pay, then find a seat. A little slow but only because they are preparing the food in front of you as it's ordered.Food was great. Custom made to your order.Decor was interesting and well done. I would love to have a place like this in my home town”

“My only regret is I have lived in Lexington for almost a year and this is my first time here. I had the bacon egg and cheese waffle sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Can’t wait to come back and try more things.”

“I have been twice and I believe that I have ordered the Panang Curry both times. Admittingly, I can't remember exactly what I tried my first visit, but I remember it being fantastic, which matches up with my most recent visit. The Panang Curry base has an extremely balanced base, being rich with a hint of spice. Personally, I don't like the bell peppers it comes with, so I meticulously fish them out but it's other contents include green pea pods, pineapple chunks, broccoli, and more that I currently cannot recall. I sampled the springs rolls, but in all honesty they tasted like they are, being bland lettuce and carrots wrapped in rice paper. Despite this very dispassionate appetizer, I must recommend anyone visit based on the dish I tried alone. The restaurant also features a semi-common theme amongst Thai places where you can order things as they are or with increased spices for more heat. My only other negative would be that it appeared that only one hostess/waitress was available. Therefore, it took a while to get a check and pay when all was enjoyed and done. I understand that not everyone wants to work in the service industry in this economy, so it is barely even a negative mark. The interior is a unique wooden accented space with booths, tables, and small swivel chair, two person tables.”

“Walked into the building and it smelled so heavenly I swear my mouth was watering. Got Boil A which had crab legs, shrimp, sausage, hard boiled egg, corn, and potatoes. Blueberry lemonade to drink. Everything was fresh and delicious. Ate my full and still had some to go. Smelled so good in my car I had to eat again when I got home. Loved it. P.s. when I was eating, a man came in and said he had the best sandwich he ever had from there the night before. Apparently it was salmon. I think I might try that next.”

“Awesome and authentic NC BBQ. Friendly staff and fast service. You can go in for take out or they come out to cars. If you are just passing through Lexington it is an easy exit off the highway and back on your trip. Delicious and worth it.”

“For small towns, Salisbury and Spencer are truly fortunate to have so many great, locally owned choices for dinner! For me, Pinocchio's is at the top of that list. This review is the sum of dozens of visits (we live in Salisbury). As background, I've lived all over the country, from FL to CA to VA, and I love good food! I've been to Italy many times, but I was on an aircraft carrier at the time, so I don't think that counts. The setting is an older building. Not a hole in the wall, more of a small, intimate and (to me) surprisingly cool setting. I would suggest reservations. The interior is a bit older. I think beauty sometimes requires imperfections, but I'm sure that's just me. Personally, I love the interior.Pinocchio's strives to use local ingredients as much as possible in new and interesting ways. Favorites stay on the menu while weekly specials showcase the chef's ingenuity and skill. Plating and presentation are always spot-on, as are the portions. Service is great without being intrusive. And the food never disappoints. I'm partial to the salmon, and would recommend it regardless of garnish-of-the-day. Desserts are always a delight. As to the wine selection, it looks impressive, but honestly I always get Prosecco, so I will let others critique the wine list. Two thumbs up!”

“Our family just tried this place for the first time and was not disappointed. The food we ordered was so good and the customer service was great. They did inform us the Google has an outdated menu and pricing. They're working to try to correct this. I took photos of their current menu and pricing as of the date of this review. We will definitely be back.”

“First timer to Speedys. We got chopped plate, red slaw, potato salad (puddin'), fries, salad. Must be 2#'s of bbq on the plate. Double portions of sides. Certainly enough for 2 people. Bbq very flavorful but on the dry side. Dip was good but I like mine more thin rather than thick. Red slaw was 10 out of 10. Potato salad puddin was perfect consistency but was missing something. Crinkle fries were excellent especially after adding some seasoned salt that was on the table. Add one star to the review just for having Heinz ketchup. 10 times better than any food service supply brand. Salad was iceberg lettuce, fresh chopped tomatoes, cheddar cheese and pickle relish or chopped pickles with Ken's Golden Italian. Another good brand instead of food service dreck. Service was telepathic. The ladies knew what I wanted before I did. Fresh, hot, hush puppies too. I was starvin' and could not have had better or faster food. We will be back soon.”

“The goose and monkey brew house is a great spot to hang in Lexington! They offer beers, wines, cocktails and soft drinks. I had a margarita today which was pretty good. I do not like beer but the wondering pig has become one of your favorite pints to get, I love the bitterness of it. They also have the DELICIOUS restaurant pour folk provisions inside which makes it ten times better!!! Friendly staff, various seating options including outside. Various events, specials and cocktails offered throughout the week. My family and friends and I love to go to Wednesday night bingo , it is such a good time. I’m so glad Lexington has places like the goose and monkey.”
