“Merle’s is a hidden gem in Wilkesboro. The atmosphere is cool and the drinks are delicious. Kyle is an excellent mixologist and prepared the drinks perfectly. I had three drinks: Out of Office, Not from around here and the Merle’s Brûlée. My brother in law had asked for a mojito and Kyle picked the mint from their garden. I recommend you try them all. Will definitely go back when we are back in the area.”

“My best friend and I went to Talia’s today for lunch and a coffee and we were blown away! The house salad with chicken was so well prepared and was without a doubt the best we have ever had! The presentation was amazing and we could tell it had been prepared with care and love. We have found our favorite place for coffee and food- Talia’s is amazing!”

“After hearing only utmost praise for The Spice is Right, I decided on ordering lunch from them today. I arrived shortly before peak hours and ordered the Chicken Fajita Wrap. I had to wait a little longer than I initially expected, but that completely passed my mind after I was given a FULL REFUND for what the chef called "overcooked chicken." I must disagree though, the dish was fantastic. I'll definitely be returning in order to pay them back.”

“Perfect place to take a delicious rest after greenways. We really enjoyed the hip atmosphere here and tasty bubble teas! My favorite flavor is taro which is not overly sweet but enough sweetness and flavor. This place makes your weekend afternoon extra special while exploring downtown Wilkesboro.Kid-friendliness: Open areas near the historic museum have a lot to do with sweet treats and fun”

“My family has a place in the mountains about 45 mins from here, but this is where we exit the highway. I try to stop at Santa Lucia every opportunity I can to pick-up food on the way out there! One of the best, hole in the wall, Mexican spots I've found in N.C. You know it's good when most of the staff/patrons are speaking Spanish. I usually get a chorizo burrito (big portion, lots of meat), plus sides of queso and guacamole - both are excellent and their chips are perfection!! Having said that, I've never had anything I didn't like from here. It's unassuming and in what appears to be a converted gas station ... exactly what you want for no frills Mexican food. If you're going on a Friday evening, I suggest calling ahead. They get really busy and wait times can exceed an hour if you have a big order.”

“So I was on the way to a concert and happened to stop by this spot and I was not disappointed. The people there were super nice and friendly. Because of the show that I was going to there was a lot of people already there so they have to kind of make do and we ended up having to sit outside. But they have heaters outside so keep that in mind. Also which is really cool, they give you blankets if you're not okay with the heaters. So you can send under a heater and then have a blanket on your legs and you can be totally comfortable even if it is a little bit chilly out. Of course it's walled in by the plastic walls that restaurants put up to say that they are indoors and outdoors, but on the right type of night you can really feel the breeze so I thought that the heating lamps and the blankets were a good addition and that's a plus to them. Everybody was super nice, the lady came by who was managing and talked to us for a while. Not just a regular high and buy, actually has some real conversation. I really really liked that. It gave a humanistic feeling to us that we weren't just a table but we were people. The waitress came over and talked to us and she gave us the rundown of the whiskey's and Bourbons. What I loved about this was the fact that she asked what we normally go for and prefer and she tried to match up what we prefer to the specific alcohol on the list. So the fact that you listened to me and then came back and asked my opinion on it, it let me know that you really cared enough about your company to learn about what they serve and you care enough about the customers to learn about what I like. The presentation was great, I have no complaints about the presentation of it, I only got a drink but there was a flight on the table as well and everything was laid out to where you knew exactly what you were drinking. I got a sandwich, steak, and it was really really good. The bread was a little crispy but that crunch definitely added to the meal itself! I wouldn't do plan on going back to this spot when I'm in the area!”

“Your local, "hole in the wall" restaurant. I would go out of my way to eat here. Home made Mexican style bakery. I believe they are actually el Salvadorean but great food, none the less. The pork carnitas tacos were perfect. Soft and moist in the middle and crunchy on the edges. The pupusas are perfect. If you don't like their pupusas, you don't like pupusas. Priced reasonable and speed of food was good. Get your authentic, high-quality food here.”

Y'all it was delicious. My friend was able to get a gluten-free snack as well. Thanks again for helping make a special occasion that much nicer!”

“Cool spot that was a bit overrun with Merlefest visitors, but they seemed very competent at regulating the crowd. They say you'll "never leave hungry", and that was a fact.Vegetarian options: Several options on the menu.Dietary restrictions: Owner has celiac and therfore offers plenty of gluten-free options. I have an u usual allergy, and so went to the connected health food store/smoothie shoo and got an amazing smoothie to fill me up. Because both are owned by the same family, you can bring.one places food to the other with no issue.”

(We got the Mozzarella sticks, loaded tater tots. Not pictured is the Aussie burger and Wings. The drink is the Wonky Wombat.) All was soo yummy. The cake is from an outside company. Highly suggest going here to Eat. Gather. Play”

“This was our first time. We have had a lot of recommendations to come here but just took the drive out. We had spent the day hiking so we worked up an appetite and wanted to try several different things. We got the fried mushrooms and loaded french fries as appetizers and they were both excellent. I had the Big Jack Fried Platter and it was very good, although I would've liked more oysters. My wife and oldest daughter had grilled chicken and said it was very good. Both of them had huge pieces of chicken. My youngest daughter had a grilled chicken salad and she loved it as well. They also enjoyed their sides of homemade chips and the ranch dressing was great. Our server was very kind and kept us happy. The atmosphere is decent, it definitely feels like a hometown kind of place. We loved the booths we sat at because they reminded us of 50's themed tables and seats. Our waitress even recommended a popular dish for when we come back, so we will definitely have to come back and try the steam pot. Oh yeah I almost forgot, they bring out hush puppies with butter and they were some of the best I've ever had.Parking: Not many parking places and the parking spots are right next to the road so you have to be careful backing out.”
“In town for a family reunion and graduation party. Vernon's cake was outstanding, the rolls made the bbq, and the service could not have been better. We always try to buy local and Vernon's is a great local business that we highly recommend.”

“Even though I have lived out of state for more than 10 years, I am a native of Wilkes. 6th & Main has always been the classiest place in town for fine dining and atmosphere. So when my daughter’s boyfriend reached out for help with proposing to my daughter on Valentines Day, I immediately knew this would be the perfect location to pop the big question! It was semi last minute planning so I contacted the restaurant to see if they could squeeze them in for Valentine’s Day dinner and the proposal! Heather, the owner got back with me immediately and helped me plan out every detail. She offered to have them come in an hour before the restaurant opened so they could be alone in their very special moment! We also had flowers delivered to the restaurant beforehand and Heather once again, stepped up to make sure they were delivered on time and brought out to my daughter at just the right time.?Even though I couldn’t be there, Heather kept me in the loop in real time which meant the world to me! She sent me pictures and even helped my (very nervous) future son in law, pull off the big surprise! My daughter called afterwards to tell me she was of course engaged and how beautifully everything had gone! (Mission accomplished!) She also couldn’t believe how accommodating and kind Heather had been to them. Sadly, this kind of service and people are becoming harder to come by so I share with others when I find wonderful people and services. Their meal + service were excellent! 10 out of 10 across the board! Thank you Heather and the 6th & Main staff for helping us pull off a very special event for our daughter and son in law to be.”
